I'm surprised she never mentioned the most glaringly obvious difference of all: On the real bezel the numerals and markers are nearly flush with the main surface; on the fake bezel they are set in considerable relief. You could spot it easily in low light by the shadowing which the relief creates.

@imranbecks What if they don't know they bought a fake?

I love hearing your point of view and enjoy the great production values of your videos, but I find the way you wave your hands and arms distracting and it makes you hard to watch. In my view hand and arm gestures are for emphasis, and it doesn't make any sense to emphasize everything. It's like writing with everything in boldface, everything underlined, everything in italics, or everything in ALL CAPS. It's a non-verbal form of shouting.

The lion's share of the tens of trillions of dollars created by the central bank–commercial bank partnership in the past eleven-and-a-half years had gone straight to the world's rich people. Thus the great increase in prices for luxury houses, restaurants, cars, clothes—and watches. Probably whores, too.

Quality, sure--if it really is well-built and doesn't merely look that way. It's not true that steel is steel is steel. To be a great watch every part must be made of a great alloy, the right one for the job the part does, and damn the expense. Other questions include: How will the crystal wear? Will it be noisy and annoy you in quiet rooms? What will happen when it inevitably falls on the floor as you're putting it on or taking it off? When it needs a repair, how is the part to be sourced? (Strong chance, I'm guessing, that a genuine part won't fit.) How well does it keep moisture out? How is the paint on the bezel going to hold out? There must be many more. Great at keeping time doesn't equate to Great Watch, or Casio would be the last word (although I'm not saying you said any different; just wanted to say it). I lean towards a guess, however, that it's very ok for $600. (Except I don't like the Rolex look too much anyway.)

@andreyche193 Right, obviously. But then a disposable $600 isn't what a lot of people are after. Whatevs . De gustibus etc.

The crudely reeded crown was a dead giveaway.

@JenniElle Your thumbnail in the Up Next column reeled me in. It was the look of surprise you wear in it.
