  2. Nationwide, the proportion of NFF (non-fossil-fuel-generated) grid power in the first 11 months of 2022 hit 40%, a major milestone. The renewables portion is now over half of that, about 22%, but it's where all the growth is. The wind and solar component is growing by 20% a year, which means it's doubling about every 45 months. Meanwhile coal's contribution is falling by something like 10% a year. Next milestone: 50% NFF. Give it four years.

  3. ​ @piman4102  Sadly, for anyone with a can't-do attitude, all these renewable energy problems are being addressed. (And they don't have to be absolutely eliminated either. Natural gas, e.g., can always play an energy role as a backup to other ways of generating electricity. No big deal, as long as its importance decreases greatly.) For one thing, the future of storage is looking great. Btw, I share your feeling that nuclear power (both fission and fusion) ought to have a very important place in our energy mix.

  13. What are you, ten? They've turned their populace into docile sheep, through 70 years of brutal oppression and ceaseless propagandizing from cradle to grave. While the West proceeded straight to becoming wealthy after the Second World War, the communists ruled a very poor people with a vicious iron hand, putting an estimated 100,000,000 to death. Educated people were wiped out, so its is nearly impossible to find people in China today whose grandparents weren't illiterate peasants. I do happen to like Chinese people a lot, but who can fail to notice their uniformity of personality? Something terrible has been done to them. Namely, it was murder, oppression, and forced indoctrination. Do you think North Korea is "real amazing", too?

  18. Why not? A major cause of financial crises is poor government oversight of finance and banking. In China, the Communist Party of China goes about regulating those sectors quite busily. But who is watching the government? No one, of course, so deficiencies in oversight are guaranteed, just as they are occasionally in the West. Cheers.

  19.  Andrew C  Reading between the lines, I hear you saying that financial crises in America stem from its corrupt financial system (companies and government oversight boards both), but China's problem is its lack of transparency, as the government has a free hand to involve itself in businesses and the financial markets just as it likes, with no one knowing about it and with no accountability. But if I'm getting you wrong, then your whole comment condemns the US. Can't tell. Overall your tone seems very CPC-friendly, but you have to make a living like anybody else! Cheers.

  26. How can the value of anything plummet 300%? That would mean something was worth ten dollars and now it's not only worth nothing, you owe $20 to someone for it. I don't think that's quite what happened, but whatever the situation was, there's got to be a better way to phrase a description of it. You could just hang on to it and not owe anyone anything, so I think it's fairer to say it fell 100%. Let's say you buy an awful car for $100 and it crumbles a day later. You have to pay $300 to have it hauled away. Its value didn't "plummet 400%".
