  5. The fact of blasphemy laws being in place or not is but one thing about a country. I don't see why it should be the decisive fact. Nor, it seems, did Oakeshott. (I should imagine she left to get far enough away from Tice to forestall the temptation to marry him.) So why focus on it? Have a go at her on other grounds, if there are any.
