I'm guessing many people he talks to try to be somehow extra something-or-other—extra intelligent, extra imaginative, sensitive, funny, charming, insightful… something, anything —so as not to feel so ordinary in comparison to him that it's humiliating. They all seem to reach a little cringily. So yeah, this guy went for extra touchy-feely. Or maybe not. Maybe he's just a very typical old German hipster.

@L0CALDRUGMAN Yes, but I think that was just a mistake, as I seem to remember he's had 80m+ for some time. It think this was recent, when he was in Germany for Giga Berlin's opening.

The camera operator like so many people wants attention, recognition, a chance to shine, time in the spotlight, to 'express myself'. Me, me, me, me, me. Even the person who records street and station names for the transit system in my city goes nuts with funny pronunciations and stresses. She wants to be famous or something, even though she only says "Walnut. Walnut Street is next." So she does dumb stuff like "Wal-NUT. Wal-NUT Street is next." How very 2020s.

Of course he doesn't know about Thorium reactors. He doesn't know anything about physics, he's not interested in electricity generation, and he totally doesn't care about the future. He generally knows nothing about anything.
