  3.  @charliec.3518  You sound really sheltered. A masked teenager in a robbery is incredibly unpredictable. And very, very dangerous. Bear in mind that there is a strong chance that such a kid (1) has things to prove to his (or her) peers and himself, like how brave and vicious he can be, (2) is highly conscious that he has little to fear from the justice system if caught, (3) is living a deeply unpleasant and hopeless life and may feel he has nothing to lose, (4) isn't in good mental health, being afflicted with emotional or other disorders, and moreover is temporarily in an abnormal, highly-charged state of mind, (5) is high or drunk, meaning his already-poor judgement is further impaired, (6) thinks that his disguise protects him from the consequences of any violent crime he commits, (7) is doing something to pass gang initiation and has been instructed to injure or kill the store worker. I could go on. A masked teenager coming at you in a robbery has crossed a highly serious line and does not deserve the benefit of the doubt. Young criminals like that fill courtrooms everywhere, and pack hospitals and graveyards with their victims.

  6.  @raiden72  Wasn't it a charity box (rather than "the store clerk's coin purse")? I never see money on a store counter except in a charity box. Larger point concerning your reference to "death": No one died, nor is it reasonable to say the stabbing was an attempted murder. The store owner relented when the robber went limp, then attended to his survival by calling for medical help.

  8.  @MrEVAQ  This only goes to prove there were clueless and masochistic Millennials and GenZ-ers two thousand years ago, too. "Beat me some more" and "rob me some more" are not maxims for a sustainable society or personal life. There's very limited scope for loving your enemy. It should be more like "If a good friend or family member wrongs you, don't freak out too much. Try a bit of understanding and forgiveness and if they're any good at all they will repent and try to atone for what they did. Then you may end up with a better friend or relation, instead of a bitter foe." That's about it, and even that would often be going too far. I recommend against modelling your life on the beliefs of cult members worshipping their leader.
