It's only gonna get worse. Whatever replaces it will shock, sicken, endanger, and terrorize you worse. Soon we'll yearn nostalgically for today, when it hadn't yet totally fallen apart and we still had hopes of retrieving it. Journalism is a telling part of it, but still just a part. Termites have been going at the whole thing, the whole Western civilization edifice, for somewhat longer than 150 years. It's all one big, slow demolition, even though jerry-built additions are constantly being tacked onto the upper and lower floors alike. Rome went rapidly downhill for a long, long time. Imagine falling out of an airplane and not hitting the ground for three hundred, four hundred years. But whereas Rome's most major adversaries were the ragged Germans of the time, the West is up against a far more formidable Half The Whole Rest of the World, but especially two distinct zones of it, which I need not name. So we won't last that long, but it's still going to be a very drawn-out, lightning-fast-yet-slo-mo crash. It'll outlast many or most of us. Glad you're not 25?

@squatch545 "The hundreds murdered by far right". Those are psychos. Out-and-out psychos. Do not conflate them with people who simply hate Democrats, the mainstream media, and their agendas. Trump didn't get 71 millions votes from 71 million psychos and you better get used to that. I doubt most of his voters think very highly of him, and I'm sure not only that extremely few are violent radicals, but also that extremely few have anything but disgust for the violent psychos you refer to. You're going to have to find other ways of looking at them, if you're capable of it. But I worry that your self-esteem is entirely dependent on seeing them as 71 million racist nutcases. If it is, I hold out no hope of your doing any actual learning or thinking on the subject. You'd be in terror of your whole identity and your whole vision of the world crashing down --- for good reason: it would.

@CyberEditing Granted. But they're doing a lot of things right, these people who were until so recently mere management trainees in democracy. Or so I hear. As I understand it, too great respect for the people prevented much Western-style bossiness over the past 15 months. Is this true? A Peterson watcher in Taiwan...I could think of few I'd rather ask.

Warning: they're putting in long years treating you mostly quite well for the purpose of gaining your trust and respect. But it's a Faustian sort of bargain. The time will come when they withdraw their savings and feed you stories you should never believe. Russians I love, but of all things Russian I trust the communications arm of the government of Russia least.

He's a great person but, in fairness, in earlier eras his messages would hardly be needed, nor would they find an audience. Only now are they found controversial --- or salutary or even interesting, for that matter. Formerly they were common knowledge. In other times he would be a clinical psychologist and university professor esteemed in his field and unknown outside of it.
