One of the better speculations I've heard. Bitcoin, Fentanyl, campus Neo-marxism, SARS CoV-2—all of them strike me as Chinese imports, not just some of them. All of them look like ways of turning Western strengths into weaknesses.

There may be a low chance of biological aliens zooming around. Space travel with wetware accommodations is prohibitively expensive. It would take a small fraction of the resources to send highly advanced droids.

I don't know why, but I wanna smush the two sides of that campus together.

@sanders555 So what? Who ever said self-interest and human decency can't get along? Some of your TAs and know-nothing young friends?

"He's not Jeffrey Epstein." Oh yeah? How about the suppressed scandal over one of his adolescent students where he taught school? It's more than a rumour. The girl has been identified and contacted by journalists. But—surprise, surprise—this being Trudeau, he's arranged to have a formal publication ban on any mention of her name publicly. Oh the lawyers this guy must have. So saying he's not Jeffrey Epstein is at least a little dubious.

Ask yourself if it's right or wrong for a family going through financial troubles to continue paying for fire insurance for the house. The Mars mission is fire insurance for humanity.

I am. And I'm watching you right now. For god's sake put some clothes on.

He's not averse to crunching a data stream into stored data. Not a tiny iota. It's his bread and butter. He doesn't really know how not to do it. It's so close to automatic, so much what he loves and what he is, that he'd probably just about rather die than try to stifle it. I'd guess his whole life is little more than an effort to position and free himself to let it fly. Or he'd go crazy with miserable acute suffering.

You omit to consider that he does not have much support in the legislature behind him. Hopefully, ten months from now on October 26th, his La Libertad Avanza (Liberty Advances) party and allied parties will make major gains.

@onbored9627 What was pro-crypto about my reply? What was anti-bank about my reply? Nothing.

@longviolinfilms You guessed wrong about what surety means.
1
@longviolinfilms The word surety refers to a guarantor, a back-up person who formally promises to make certain that some obligation will be met, if not by the party who pledged to do it in the first place, then by he or she himself/herself. It may also mean the guarantee itself. As a word with those highly specific meanings it's been around for centuries. Using it as a novel and would-be fancy substitute for certainty is illiterate or (charitably) semi-literate and any dictionary which includes that sense is simply one which takes the descriptive stance so far as to dispense with any distinction between literacy and illiteracy. That's their right, just as it's anyone's right to abuse the language. We live in the age of rights. Yous are free to write as yous like.

@longviolinfilms You didn't read my reply. Middle few lines of last paragraph. Just take the L or at please at least drop it.

Yarmulke. Never seen him with it off.

@proudatheist2042 It's plain that something bad happened to education when someone is unaware that people don't divulge answers to personal questions online.

@westcoastkidd17 No, Queens.

Madam, will you please stop waving your arms constantly? Just please. Gestures of the hand and arm are for emphasis, like raising one's voice slightly. Ceaseless arm-waving is thus akin to speaking loudly all the time. Shouting, even. So forget your blasted "media training." Return to what was no doubt your former wont of conducting yourself like a fully civilized human being confident of what she's saying.

The art of peace is the art of deterrence.

Two days ago Argentina announced that GDP grew by 3.9% (after inflation) in the 3rd quarter. This followed GDP contractions in six of the previous eight quarters. Arguably it was the best quarter since 4.3% in 2010 Q2. (Two higher quarters in 2020 were bounce-backs from the initial 19% pandemic-related contraction.)
