@bp1359 Both Australia and NZ played major catch-up in their Covid death rates in the past year. In the past 10 months New Zealand has had 2.0x the per-capita deaths that the US has: 725 per million vs. 366. (See Worldometer>Coronavirus>Countries> New Zealand and US pages.) Australia is similar.

@bp1359 Not in Canada. Very high vaccination rate paired with the lowest Covid death rate in North America & Europe save only Norway. I refuse to count Iceland as it's just too tiny to matter. Aus/NZ's problem isn't that they vaccinated, it's that it didn't let the virus circulate at all for two years, meaning the population never built up any immunity. It's what you get when your PM would make a better elementary school principal, or in Australia's case, when your state premiers worship the Chinese model for everything. Rule-happy ant-brains, the lot of them.

@bp1359 Interesting thought. We do have to remember what a disaster the MRNA platform was for 20 years prior to 2021. Conceivably it's still no good, despite its partial, qualified and apparently temporary success against Covid-19. Thanks for your replies.
