Peterson says certain words his own way. Other Canadians, e.g., never say potential with an oh sound. Aboot, is a myth, btw. I've never heard it, not once in my life. Canadians say either abowt, like Americans but typically a little clipped; or (mainly small-town) abuwt, with a bit of an uhw instead of an ow sound. (You also hear it sometimes in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.) A handful of very rural or Newfoundland-bred Canadians say aboat. But never aboot.

@joeschembrie9450 Suit yourself. What was the other word anyway? Wiki, fwiw, says "In the U.S., aboot [əˈbut], an exaggerated version of the raised pronunciation of about [əˈbʌʊt], is a stereotype of Canadian English.[2]"

It's an interview?

In the discussions I most enjoy, people treat each other as friends who don't (yet) see eye to eye. Next, not-very-friendly battles for dominance integrating formal politeness (e.g. restrained interrupting) and generous respect (e.g. good-faith striving to fully grasp the other's views). Least enjoyable: battles for dominance that are simply uncouth.

@TheDionysianFields Uh, it was pretty uncouth. I've seen them both do better, Destiny somewhat when talking to Ben Shapiro; Peterson especially, at various times. But he doesn't seem much given to it anymore. Something's deprived him of that relaxed, self-forgetting, confident and curious state that breeds it.

It's a formal term with no negative connotation here. Agreeability/disagreeability is one of the so-called Big Five personality scales and disagreeable doesn't necessarily mean a person is 'difficult.' It might, but can just as easily mean 'has a spine.' It really just means they don't tend to go out of their way to agree, please or go along with people. Anyone who debates a lot is 'disagreeable,' including Peterson.
