  8. NPR knowingly stated a falsehood when they said Twitter "falsely impl[ied] that we are not editorially independent." But no. Twitter merely labelled them "Government-funded Media," which is factually and verifiably accurate— NPR is government-funded. Why would NPR do such a thing? I'll answer that with a question: Why is it that NPR has not shut down its YouTube channel, which YouTube likewise (and quite rightly) labels as publicly-sponsored? (Clue: Musk does not own YouTube.)

  20.  @Innocent_Villain  You assist me in making my point. Yes, corporations have power. (It went without saying when I pointed out that they can be corrupt.) But that is a feature, not a bug, for power must be spread around for freedom to even exist, let alone to thrive. Individuals, civil society and, yes, companies, must all have some power. The danger is great concentration of power, including great concentration of power in the government, something which is immensely helped along by government producing not only the laws but the news. That pairing, as we have seen, is the sine qua non of full-scale repression. Down with government news.

  25.  @tonys32948376  People (they were high schoolers, mostly) died from vaping because they bought and used vape fluid adulterated with Vitamin E oil, and in combination with that were vaping cannabis concentrate. They made things worse by withholding acknowledgment of the cannabis concentrate use from both their parents and doctors. Kids who only vaped the adulterated vape fluid did not fall ill, as I understand it. This was what baffled the doctors, as they knew it had something to do with vaping but couldn't understand why only a minority of those who used this adulterated product were adversely affected. At last the cannabis users fessed up and the puzzle was solved. I suggest you apply for a job at the New York Times. They're looking for people like you.

  27. The subject is way over her head. Corporate media can be corrupt, but what powers do companies have compared to governments? She has to stop and think for a moment: Governments make the laws. If they not only make the laws but the news as well, the people are at great risk. We should not get our news from the government. How would you like it if the government published the books as well? And the movies? Would that be wise?

  34. Yes it is. Censoring libel or other illegal speech is censorship, and so is censoring legitimate opinion. Nothing in the word 'censorship' itself implies that it's bad or unfair. Those things would have to be a matter of context. It's like the word 'discrimination.' To discriminate is simply to notice differences and perhaps act on them. So there's what people call 'fine discrimination,' which is ordinarily a merit, and there's unfair or illegal discrimination.

Yet the interviewer hinted broadly that Musk did something wrong. Consider that in contrast to Old Twitter and the US government, whose requests to pull content they honoured just out of chumminess. Now, that's what I call corrupt.

  41. Yes, Austin did say the US is there to weaken Russia. But that's nothing profound or sinister, it's basic military strategy for dealing with a highly powerful belligerent. Don't just knock them back to the border—they'll just come right back after a little while. It's necessary to drain their war-making ability. It's just straightforward security planning and practically goes without saying. The same goes for Biden wanting Putin's ouster. Of course we all want him gone, but that's not the same thing as a plan for regime change. That is a job for Russia itself, period. Likewise we want Kim Jong-un gone too, but we're certainly not going after him. So Kennedy was bizarrely and sadly way off there, but I do approve of his remarks on the ongoing merger of the state (the Dems, actually) and the plutocrats.

The real criterion for the MSM to attack someone is that they refuse to stick their tongue you-know-where. They can be honest, dishonest, mistaken, whatever.
