"Why is this?" It's because Japan doesn't have an industry focused on making Japanese people ashamed of being Japanese. For that reason they quite like the country they've built and, unsurprisingly, want to keep it as it is. You know, in this regard it's almost like the wrong country won the Pacific War.

And now what's the point in re-opening them? There's now little difference between people at large and the people formerly confined to asylums.

Then it'll be 97% in 20 years. That isn't a big deal.

My country allows 8 refugees a minute.π

It's the instinct of the totalitarian or tyrant to deceive with words, and it's this which the left wing is impressed by and emulates. They must thoroughly admire the bald-faced dishonesty of the long-winded "Democratic People's Republic of Korea" with its spectacular triple-untruth.

It's the same in Canada and Australia. It's like I've left the country (i.e. emigrated)βonly I haven't. And it's not as though this has occurred gradually over a full lifetime (I'm not old, nor even grey-haired). It's happened in just the past 25 years or so. There's a Chinese-owned and -staffed supermarket near my home. While there not long ago I had a question, but no one understood what I was asking. I resorted to saying "Do you speak English?" to one employee after another. A pair of men I addressed this way just looked gruffly at me at first, then one of them repeated "English" back to me awkwardly, said something to the other man which made him smirk, then turned to me and said "No" with evident sardonic pleasure. The two of them laughed derisively at me. The universal language they spoke in the land which had welcomed them was Intentional Rudeness. (It turned out that no one working there spoke even a little English, in spite of the fact that they had moved to an English-speaking country, and the fact that about 20% of the world's people can converse in English, while a much larger fraction have studied and learnt at least some. China alone has an estimated 300m learners. I would've been better off in a supermarket there.)

It finally dawned on me recently that the part of the world which Russia most resembles in political mindset is Africa.

"They couldn't understand how such a thing was possible." Well, just give them 30 seconds and they'll blame colonialism, for Africa was the most civilized, prosperous and progressive place on earth until the day they made contact with Europeans.

Let's keep in mind that government does perform some legitimate tasks. Among them might be protecting us from dangers about which it knows things it would be imprudent to reveal. What if, for instance, it possesses information suggesting that an enemy is developing the ability to unleash upon us a deadly biological attack, and that Covid-19 was a test run for something far more serious? Energetic questioning and skepticism, fine. Blind distrust, not ok.

As usual, a great essay, and read very well indeed. On other channels 3-minute videos are apt to seem like they're 9 minutes. On this channel it's the other way around.

The problem is that it's not a ban, since men who 'transitioned' before puberty are welcome to compete as women. It is evidence merely that the political power balance between feminists and trans activists is stabilizing. Between them they still wield absurdly outsized influence. They moreover wield it in socially and politically destabilizing and unsalutary ways which this development only reinforces. It is therefore hasty to speak of bubbles bursting and common sense returning.

Well, British women decided around 50 years ago that they don't much care for children. Feminists, sickened and infuriated at seeing women start families with men, convinced them that children interfere with spending a couple of decades after school going through serial partners, and with their highly interesting and rewarding careers. Their campaign went hand in glove with the neo-Marxists' Long March Through the Institutions. It was all in the cards since then.
