  1. 1) "Trust"? Please, Piers, that's histrionical. Since Roman times the classic question asked in the investigation of a crime is cui bono? (Who benefits?) Here, no one benefits, so I should say that there was no crime. Those edits were all pointless in the sense that they didn't make anyone look wonderful. I should say someone was messing about aimlessly and the wrong version got out. 2) I'm with you, Piers, on Madonna. It's high time this senior citizen (I'm reminded of John Lydon calling Ozzy Osbourne a "senile delinquent") considered giving over the remaining part of her life to behaving decently.

A young man wouldn't qualify to take part either, and for the same reason. As pleasant as it was to gawk at her, she was chosen simply because of her chromosomes and looks, which isn't right.

  14. On the failure of polling, I can see a link to turnout. Despite growth in the voting-age population, several million fewer votes were cast than in 2020, indicating a lack of enthusiasm for either nominee. So I suspect that it was better for polls to target self-professed likely voters than registered voters.
