Stop calling them tariffs! These are import taxes. Trump just raised your taxes, "bigly."

@ I was addressing Americans. So you mean "Yes, correct!" I'm saying that you and I actually agree.

@Mr.White10-65 The number of people crossing illegally from Canada to the US is something like 1/500th the number at the southern border. Not even a rounding error. Likewise with Fentanyl. Anyway, it's every country's own job to protect its own border. It's what every country on earth does. It's what Canada tries to do itself, to stem the flow of guns, illegal immigrants and drugs coming in from the US. If the US really does have this upside-down, inside-out view of border security, then it should start protecting Canada from the US side. Further questions? Just reply, neighbor.

Yep, the US imports about $100bn of food from Canada and Mexico.

Check Costa Rica. Quite often people who need to disappear go to Costa Rica. But first maybe check the sewage treatment plant. No, that's mean. I'm not gonna say that one.

@darlingdear2687 Good observation. Shows how weird and disorienting this situation is that you even had to point that out!

@darlingdear2687 No sarcasm at all, friend. It's a plain fact that only those 3 countries could make a dent in a major shortfall of Canadian oil. But... they don't have 4.3m barrels/day just lying around. So expect a multi-year wait for it. Also, they'll jack the price way up. They're not going to sell at a normal price to a desperate US. (On top of that, shipping oil 8,200 miles by tanker adds even more to the price, probably about $2 a barrel.)
2
@ [sigh] Some things are way more complicated than they seem when a person knows zero about them. Do some research. US oil cannot replace Canadian oil except via a refinery overhaul lasting a decade and costing hundreds of billions. Find me one expert or oil CEO agreeing with you.
2
Absolutely right.👍 They should be the rule, not the exception. 99% should be like them, but I shudder to think of how low the number actually is.

I remember it was supposed to be cool how Dennis Rodman defiantly announced he'd be "Bad as I Wanna Be". So how many thought it was so cool they made it their life's inspiration? (Or was it meant literally in the first place? Never did read that pos thing.)
1
@mdmoz1777 Actually, goods inflation has remained low all this time. It's food, energy and shelter that went crazy.
1
@darlingdear2687 Venezuela's not the only choice. There's also Iran!😂 Oh, Iraq too.🤣

@Mr.White10-65 What?! It's every country's own job to watch who gets into their country. That's how the world works. The US doesn't go to much trouble protecting Canada from the people who end up sneaking northwards out of its territory now does it? No, it doesn't, because you don't see it as your job (which it isn't), just as in Canada it's not our job to protect the US. Put up a wall and guard it if that's what you want. You don't think Trump just sucker-punched Canada? He did. That's what this is.

@Mr.White10-65 Excuse me for just repeating so many things! I forgot which thread I was in, so I forgot I already said them here.🙄

Who else is thinking about the guy on The Simpsons who disappeared with Springfield's monorail money?
1
Progressive-liberal elites: "Hey, let's clear out all the competent and well-suited men from law enforcement, and replace them with progressive liberals. The result will be Utopia. Nothing could possibly go wrong."
1
Yep, collateral damage. That's what happens with scattershot policies from a scatterbrained politician.
1
@ssmith8592 True but irrelevant to what the OC wrote. Check and you'll find I'm right.

Note that the 4th and final family involved is not allowing the name of their beloved to be released.

@nippasss Perhaps re-read. I was addressing Americans. Suggested edit: "Yes, Americans, this is correct! Your tax on Canadian goods is now 25%. You pay, not Canada. 🍁"

@MsPhenomenalRN When did man become an adjective?
1
I think you have a point but that guy was correct from one angle: The majority of US drivers relying on Canadian oil are in the Midwest (e.g. Illinois), so that's where gas prices will be rising the most. Elsewhere, not as much. (Lots of Canadian oil goes down to Texas, too, but that mainly goes overseas.)
1
Yet the elites call you the problem for objecting to all this. They say it's entirely your fault.
1
The whole story in 25 seconds, with zero errors. Doesn't often get better than that.
1
Don't forget what is sometimes called 'music.' And don't forget mainstream culture generally. I remember it was supposed to be cool how Dennis Rodman said he'd be as "Bad as I Wanna Be". Well, how many took it literally? (Or was it meant literally in the first place? Never did read that pos thing.)

It's all about anti-conservative bias. They have a simple litmus test: Democratic actions good, Republican actions bad. If a Democrat were doing this it would be cast in a much different light. A great example was when Operation Warp Speed was in progress. Trump had started it, so during his tenure it was at least slightly suspect. Once it was Biden's baby, to question it was heresy.
1
I know what works: (1) An anti-crime culture in every community, not one that glorifies crime. (2) Vigorous enforcement of laws, not police ignoring crimes and automatic leniency in the courts. (3) Fathers who stay around to bring up their children, not shirking or even disappearing.
