  2. As Pres. Zelensky knows no Hindi, it indicated that his remarks were addressed to Indians at home. If he were speaking to Zelensky, he would likely use the only language they both know, namely English. (He might resort to a translator.)

  5.  @priyajoseph7108  Good comments. In fact it is absolutely necessary that someone buys Russian oil. If its exports were totally removed from the world supply, a great shortage would result. Prices would probably rise above $200 a barrel. Recession and high inflation would overwhelm every economy, except perhaps those of top oil producers whose gov'ts passed laws to cap crude prices domestically. Further wars would break out.

Let Modi and India remember this when China makes war on India, or blockades its trade routes. Let them plead for help and be answered: "Both sides must end this conflict."

  9. Did you not hear something that was not said? He said nothing about victims, Russia, or violent behaviours. He doesn't have the morals or the guts to place blame. To me it's useless for him to wring his hands and say "Come on, you guys!" to both parties.

If in time a soft response to Russia emboldens China to invade countries around India, or India itself, Modi may look back and bitterly rue not taking action. It's possible to imagine Modi begging for help and being answered with cold neutrality "Sorry, but remember what you said? Both sides must negotiate to end this war and achieve peace. Give away parts of India if you really want peace" etc.
