  6.  @capndave9158  I think he's afraid that alien-grade AI will either wipe out humans or, if not that, be put to use to by some party or parties to create an unbearable and unbreakable tyranny. Legit worries. What's your own take?

  7. I'm not here to stand up for poor little defenceless hedge funds. ;) But do short-selling funds really deserve the casino-gambler label? Just like buy-and-holders for the long term, they think a stock is mis-priced and they put their money where their mouth is. The real gamblers are those who put a small amount of money which they can well afford to lose into an option which they have little faith in, hoping for a pay-off somewhat like a punter at a roulette table. Obviously the dislike for short-sellers comes out of the fact that they make money out of a bad turn of events. (Bad in some sense, anyway.) But, again, does that make someone any more the gambler? I expect many might disagree with me, perhaps realizing something I haven't.
