Bricks On Da Beat It's Chelyabinsk dude, median salary is like $400 per month.

Lauri Toerni yes but German laws are really bad for the landlords so they are very picky if they choose a wrong person not paying it would take a lot of time to evict him. In Russia laws are more favorable for the landlords so no one will demand you have a full time job proofs if you want to rent a fking apartment.

Yankis LOL when I was his age I had no problem because I looked extrelemy nerdy and positioned myself as a computer programmer so most landlords were very tolerant with me, they somehow feel if you are a "party guy" or not.
2
Stefan BΓΆtel 95% of Russian apartments for rent are furnished.
2
Colyde those Slavs only remarks targeted primarily at central Asian or Caucasus people who have a bad reputation when it comes to renting, if you are an African American English teacher for example you won't have any problem, not to mention European or white American expat.
2
Douglas Watkins those apts that cost $200 per month would cost him $40k which makes a 6% rental yield, in Moscow it's 4% rental yield so it makes sense to choose rent over buying.
2
Slavs only! Damn it's still widespread, but at least it's not like in Germany where you can't rent anything even if you have a lot of money they want you to be officially employed or something...sounds weird in 2020 when a lot of people freelancing. In Russia all you need is 2-3 months of rent the landlord doesn't care about your fuckin job or something.

harald19811 median salary in Chelyabinsk is about $400 per month, average maybe $500 per month, I guess a very small economy class babushka's apt. is about 50% of median salary , that's valid for any Russian city incl. Moscow, where the rent starts from $500 per month.
2
harald19811 I have no idea why a foreigner would even think about living in Chelyabinsk. It's a big blue collar industrial city with ecological problems , low salaries, poor city infrastructure and gopniks LOL.
2
maidere no because your rent is not usually that secure long term to do a meaningful renovation
2
David Denk I paid $300 per month in Karlovy Vary 2+KK
1
Jake Nicholls that's crazy, maybe it's just democratic states like NY or Cali where you can't evict person in need if he lost his source of income. In Russia they ask for a security deposit if some furniture or equipment is really expensive plus 2 month rent ahead(first and last month of your rent). Some landlords don't like young single males so if you are not nerdy enough the agent might not call you back. Other than that no background check or job questions. You have to pay like half of per month rent to the re agent for their services as well.
1
Jake Nicholls if there a few or no renter protection why the landlords require a background checks and job proofs like in Germany? I have heard that at least NY landlords are very picky and there are some kind of renter protection, so Russian newcomers complaining they have problems even if they are ready to pay for 6 months ahead.

Kelly Bromfield yes 95%of Russian apartment are furnished. Renters usually don't want to invest much in renovation and furniture because they feel their rent is not secure long term. I would have applied some effort if I knew my rent is secure for 5-10 years at least.
1
James Thew it's very uncommon in Russia to buy your own furniture I don't know why maybe because many people don't want any extra hussle with the furniture, unlike Europe most Russian places for rent are fully furnished and both parties usually don't want that extra hustle, landlord still want that old furniture to be preserved because most future renters would prefer bad furniture over empty apt. and most renters are not feeling that rent guaranteed long term to invest in furniture and renovation.
1
GiDD It's very rare a renter wants an empty place in Russia they don't usually want to invest their time and additional money into renovation and buying furniture/other stuff like a fridge/tv/washing machine. They could buy something like a microwave but that's it.

Varric Tethras leeey ti chego morosish vyskochi odin na odin kak muzhchina a ne ochkoshnik ,zaplatim kogda nado budet kak po kaifu zhi est' po bratski
1
kay kay the problem is, a landlord can say you have to get lost within a week even if you pay your rent regularly and what you gonna do , people in Russia usually don't trust their landlord so nobody wants to invest in some renovation and new furniture.

Bon Nann San Francisco?

Man you should move to Moscow or St.P, your subscribers will really appreciate your reactions to a new city. Moscow has everything you should leave Chelyabinsk ASAP! I would recommend Mitino neighborhood, excellent infrastructure, relatively cheap, clean and very safe, no gopniks.

FilFee where do you live in Prague? They offered me a 2K+K in Vinohrady for 18000kc but it was a while ago like 8 years ago.
1
MHTRIfreedom 95% are furnished, Russians usually like it ready to go.
1
MHTRIfreedom I dunno, most Russians think " if you wanna change something seriously you should buy your own apt"., people don't want to invest their time and money seriously improving property they don't own, maybe because they feel their rent is not secure long term(most l.t. rental agreements are for 11 months) , usually it prolonged automatically but you still could be asked to find another place any time by the landlord.
