In Moo Moo, the offending officer even gets to tell his side of the story. The reasons he offered are commonly offered justifications. As Lorist points out, they went a little overboard in painting with a broad brush in the He said She said episode. As an example, while they could've given that Beefer dude genuine motivations, he just turned out to be the pig you thought him to be. And as a final point, a slight reckoning within the show of how characters have spoken of Terry and his physique would've been smart as well. When you address serious topics like that, you have to be careful and avoid being caricaturesque in your depiction of the issue. You end up preaching to the choir, otherwise, which is ineffective. I think Moo Moo didn't do so and He said She said did a little.

Some babies will have such a bleak outlook on life due to the circumstances under which they were conceived and born... it's a tough judgement, because it is decided for the baby that it's unlikely it'll have a reasonably decent life. As for the parents (and other family members): is it reasonable to prevent a baby's existence because it's going to bring a dramatic decrease in quality of their lives? It's a tougher question than it may seem initially, because of all the possible factors involved in again the conception and birth circumstances. I guess the bottomline will be that a blanket statement is never going to cut it and that each and every abortion case has to be assessed individually. One thing is certain for me, though... the current state of affairs in the USA is not good.

  123. Certains foods surely must be categorised as addictive. The conversation with Seamus was very easy to identify with. I show addict behaviours, such as getting stuck in a loop of increasing consumption once I "fall off the wagon" again. During the times I deliberately did not purchase any snack food, especially when recently starting another attempt to kick the habit, I turn the house upside down looking for ANYthing to snack on. I've made nasty creations (like cucumber with mayonnaise) just to... snack on something. I did not enjoy the eating, but at least I was eating and it sated that urge. The addiction manifests itself in the weirdest sensation: it dominates the mind. I can barely think of something else. There are moments of clarity at which I feel quite bad about my behaviour, and I straighten the jaw thinking that I'm really gonna lose weight and get healthy this time around. And then comes that all-consuming urge again and you start sneaking snacks here and there, building up to more and more eating. I'm lucky that I am not morbidly obese, but I am not at all at a healthy weight. James' response to Seamus has made me think I perhaps should look outside for some help. The call with Chrissy was devastating.

I understand the desire to want perpetrators to be punished, the retribution... but I think we should also at the very least ensure that people released from prison do not ever reoffend. In The Netherlands we have " terbeschikkingstelling", whereby a person who was deemed to be something similar to criminally insane must undergo and finish psychiatric treatment. Ideally each convit remains in jail until some arbiter deems them to be fit to return to society. For some people this means lifelong incarceration, for others this means treatment and rehabilitation.

She didn't switch right before her announcement or anything. Over time, being exposed to other views, it could very well be as she says: she was conservative on these issues due to upbringing, but has now changed over the years. It could still be that she won't be the staunchest and fiercest hero for the LGBTQI community, but maybe that's not even what that community needs in the long run. Being moderate om hot-button issues (with a clear bottom-line you will not go below, of course) is probably the most effective way in the long run. Change on those topics is hard (impossible?) to force, people must be slowly nudged.

I did not make it through the video, because I could not fully separate it from human behaviour. It was as though I was looking at footage of war crimes being committed. I always indicate I prefer not to eat animal products, or at least prefer not to eat meat. WhenI first started doing this 7 years ago, I was constantly defending my reasons. As time went on, and because I am surrounded by people whom I'd call reasonable, I no longer needed to defend myself. Rather, they adopted my thinking for themselves. It's a slightly braggy way of showng that social norms are very much an issue if you want to change your dietary habits. I had a somewhat welcoming environment and even I felt like I was being a whiny pain in the ass. I can only imagine what it is like for people in a different context.

  1270. What the hell is the point of privatisation if you then only get monopolies? It's a frequent occurence, it seems, in the US. Telecom providers, utilities and I'm sure plenty more fields appear to just carve up the country and then monopolise those parts. The free market is a good idea, as long as you encourage and facilitate competition. Monopolies are thé sign of an unhealthy market, which in turn is (or should be) the ultimate free market nightmare.

There's a sign signalling there's an upcoming roundabout, too. There's a limit to how much you can take stupid people into account.
