Great video tour of Los Angeles. My favorite is the De Longpre house - so distinctive. I really wish that one had survived!

Alas, she inherited a lot of money from her father, but not his business savvy! The exterior was quite striking and compared favorably with the homes of her Newport neighbors.

I had a chance to visit here in 2022 and it is a spectacular house. Hard to pick a favorite, although I always favor the libraries, and this one is amongst the grandest I have ever seen. But I was also enchanted by the theater, so unexpected and delightful. Thanks as always for a great exploration!

Thank you for another great video. I had a chance to tour it a number of years ago, so the video brought back nice memories. I had forgotten that the wings were built first with the central house added later, certainly not the normal way of doing things!

A really unusual and interesting house. I remember visiting here in 2011, it is well worth the visit if you are in St. Augustine, FL!

All three structures were beautiful, and each distinctive with its own style. Very sorry the Tower was lost for a non-descript skyscraper.

I really like the first bedroom with its fireplace and trim made to look like bamboo, and that wonderful leaded glass window (would love to have see it in color). How sad the house was lost, but this often happens - the loss of a significant building is necessary to get a preservation ordinance passed to preserve other buildings. The sacrificial lamb!!

Quite the home and the epitome of luxury. Too bad it was enjoyed for such a short period of time.

Very interesting video. The house reminds me a bit of Carolands, the house built by George Pullman's daughter Harriet in California. I wonder if the architect of her house was familiar with this building and used it as inspiration??

I thought the butler's pantry was quite wonderful. Nice to see that level of attention given to areas only seen and used by the live-in staff.

Beautiful home and interesting that he selected an architect from London. Also nice that they enjoyed the house for many years, which often seems to be the exception when these large houses are built.
