She broke her own promise, how hard is that for you to understand? The same woman who preaches about having affordable housing, who now lives in a luxury apartment which does not offer affordable units. The same woman who preaches about taxing the wealthy to pay for all her programs, whose mother moved out of NY state to Florida because the taxes in Florida were lower.

There are tens of millions of Americans who earn FAR LESS than her, who struggle with their bills, okay? That goes for the 2 million federal workers who weren't getting their paychecks during the shutdown while AOC was happily walking to the bank to deposit her $7500 bi-weekly checks. And DON'T talk to me about how expensive it is to live in DC because there are people living there who earn FAR LESS than what AOC makes. And you accuse ME of being obtuse?

Depending on your state (or province)'s privacy laws, you could be facing charges. They didn’t even explain why she was being let go. They said she wasn't meeting performance standards. They don't have to go into detail. It's called "at-will employment". She can file for unemployment against them and then get on with her life.

  21.  @shifrafreewoman174  many street people are severely mentally ill and you just can't expect them to be able or even willing to check themselves in to a facility that offers help. If you saw a mentally ill person sitting in a building that was burning to the ground and they didn't want to move, wouldn't you help them outside even against their will or would you just let them sit there and burn to death? The alternate is leaving them out on the street and sleeping in tents in subzero weather . At least this way, they'll have a warm bed and three square a day. At least Adams is attempting a real solution to a real problem. The same people who have been screaming "we need to help the homeless!" are now complaining about this.

I don’t even like using the term “homeless” because that lumps these street bums in with decent people who might be living out of cars/vans/trailers but are clean and sober people that hold down jobs. There is an important distinction to be made here - this Neely guy was a BUM and a drug addict who chose to live on the streets, who was unable and/or unwilling to stay at a shelter because he couldn’t abide by the shelter’s prohibitions on drugs, alcohol, smoking and curfews.
