  1. Most if not all federal employees (with the exception of TSA) are pretty well paid in addition to the benefits they receive, e.g. career tenure in many cases. Obviously some are paid more than others but none of them are destitute. The government will re-open any day now and when it does, all federal employees will receive their back pay in a lump sum. If they don't have some type of savings to fall back on then it means they're living beyond their means. Sorry if I seem unsympathetic but I "survive" on $12/hour at Walmart, if any federal worker would like to trade their situation with mine I'd be more than happy.
