  4. I was in high school at that time and I followed that election closely. Bush lagged behind Clinton in every head-to-head poll (remember, Perot was gone from the race for most of the summer). Perot siphoned away voters from both parties equally, and Clinton's margin of victory was large enough that Bush would've needed to capture 3/4 of the Perot supporters to overtake Clinton's lead in the popular vote. Wasn't gonna happen.

  10. You might be thinking of Ed King or Paul Cellucci, two former Massachusetts governors who both passed away in the late 2000s/early 2010s. Dukakis is 89 this year. Along with Jimmy Carter, he's one of the earliest-serving U.S. governors still alive today.

  15. @lauraprice5734 it’s not just the monetary cost of the search and rescue effort to consider. Other people (eg- Coast Guard, Navy personnel) risked their lives trying to find the submersible because of this Rush guy’s disregard for safety.

  28. Tyler Kochman the key difference (as I wrote in my original comment) is that Clinton led Bush in every single poll. There was little post-convention bounce for the Republican ticket. Clinton never lost that lead and he won the election fairly handily. Bush had sky-high approval ratings after Desert Storm but as soon as the election got underway, he was trailing in all of the head-to-head polls.

I find it interesting that the media and the Liberals accused Trump of being a classless sore loser yet they were just fine with Abrams’ refusal to admit she lost fair and square. And now the woman is under investigation for fraud! The voters of Georgia were smart enough not to buy into Abrams’ “Vote-for-me-otherwise-you’re-a-racist” platform. Stacey Abrams taking credit for Georgia voting blue is like the rooster taking credit for the sunrise 🐓🌅
