@terrymckenzie8786 the minimum wage is already $18/hour in San Francisco and there's shoplifting up the wazoo there. So your point is completely bogus.

@terrymckenzie8786 if a place is too expensive to live in, then don't live there. I'll never understand these people that move into Manhattan or SF and then complain about the rents. There are plenty of much cheaper places to live. Crime and poverty are not related. To avoid living in poverty, you need to do two things: 1) keep a clean criminal background and 2) learn a skill. Not necessarily an education (don't go to school for Political Science or Gender Studies) but a skill .

@terrymckenzie8786 there you go. That's the point I was trying to make and I've been saying this all along. Almost all of these people living on the streets are drug addicts. They COULD seek h a bed at a shelter, but shelters have rules (e.g. no smoking, no drugs, no alcohol, curfews, etc.,) which they are unwilling to abide by. This is different from "homeless" people who may be living out of cars, vans, trailers etc., but are otherwise clean and sober people and often hold down jobs. But Leftists love to lump everyone into the same category and claim that the cause behind this is greedy landlords, lack of resources, or "rathism". There is really no excuse to be homeless in America. We are a generous and charitable nation.
