That’s correct. If you slip and fall inside a Target store, you sue Target Corporation, NOT the minimum wage employee who spilled his coffee and didn’t mop it up. Just how much money do you expect to get from an 18 year-old earning minimum wage? Get the point?

@crinklecut3790 whether you like it or not, that’s the way the law works. It’s a principle called “respondiat superior”. If you slip and break your leg on coffee spilled by the Target employee, you have to sue Target, not the 17 year-old cashier at fault. Target is considered responsible for the acts or omissions of its employees. That’s how it works, get it? As far as not being held accountable, how about the employee getting fired?

@damham5689 @crinklecut the reason why cops say “sue me” has nothing is because they don’t want people fighting and resisting arrest. COURTROOMS are the place to argue your case. not while you’re being detained or arrested by police. Police are tired of hearing it. Cops may not have to pay out of their own pocket, but they do get held accountable in other ways. I guess you’ve never heard of Derek Chauvin.
