  1. @humblecourageous3919 since you’re not familiar with basic economics I’ll explain it to you: rent is determined by supply and demand. The more scarce an item is (in this case, housing) and/or the more people that demand it, the higher the price tends to be. Most landlords are NOT greedy wealthy corporations, many are ordinary schmucks like you or me. In fact, I feel bad for many landlords, since many renters took advantage of the pandemic, to not pay their rent at all, which forced landlords to raise the rent on the rest of us, in order to recoup their losses.

  2.  @mattstone8878  in English, when one is referring to a general group or class of people, it is perfectly acceptable to use either “who” or “that” as the relative clause. It is the same as in Spanish, which uses the relative clauses “quien” and “que” (translating as “who” and “that, respectively). Clearly something about my previous comment must have irritated you, otherwise you wouldn’t be lashing out in such a pathetic attempt to smear my grammar skills. And, I never said I was “smart”, but unlike half the commenters on YouTube, I know the difference between possessive pronouns and subject-verb contractions.

Yes, in fact, I do donate money to reputable charities (I just donated $15 yesterday to the Alzheimer’s Association) but I do NOT give cash to so-called “homeless” bums, as virtually ALL of them are drug addicts looking for cash to fund their drug or alcohol habits, which is enabled by folks like you who think with their hearts rather than their brains. We have food pantries, we have shelters (12,000 in the U.S. alone, and no, they’re NOT all “full”) and anyone needing emergency medical treatment in this country can walk into any Emergency Room without having to pay one penny upfront. Thus, there is no need at all for these bums to be hounding people for cash. NOBODY in this country is starving. This is not North Korea, this is not Eritrea, this is not the Central African Republic.
