I’ve worked for the unemployment bureau in my home state. She would’ve been ineligible for unemployment benefits regardless of whether she had resigned or had been fired. Once a claims adjuster saw this video her claim would’ve been denied on the spot. Not sure if she would’ve had any luck appealing her denial with the assistance of an attorney, but that would’ve meant money out of her pocket. Unfortunately though, being ineligible for unemployment benefits means she’s eligible for welfare and EBT — especially if she has children.

@dudemorris7769 you can get EBT regardless of whether you have children, if you earn below a certain dollar amount. Of course if you have children, you are much more likely to qualify for it, and to get more of it.

@garymorris1856 you should all be aware that technically, resigning does not necessarily disqualify one from unemployment benefits. It depends on the circumstances leading up to the separation from the employer. Unemployment is for people who are out of work through no fault of their own. You could resign from a job and qualify for UI benefits if, for example, you resigned due to any type of exigent work conditions which the employer had failed to rectify. Examples might include: sexual harassment, a hostile work environment, or dangerous physical working conditions. Yes, this woman would most likely be disqualified from unemployment because she committed gross misconduct and it is on video. I just want people to understand that quitting per se, is not an automatic disqualifier.

@garymorris1856 first off, I was replying to the THREAD, not you specifically. There were two or three people who I was addressing it to. Secondly, I don’t care if you were president of a school board or president of the United States. Most people know Jack squat about how unemployment works and I would not hesitate to put you in that category, Mr Know-it-All.
