@freespeechenjoyer Chicago has been a sanctuary city for 40 years. I'm a conservative and a Trump supporter, but why didn't Trump arrest previous Chicago mayors (like Lori Lightfoot or Rahm Emanuel) for flouting federal immigration laws?

Wishful thinking Pauline. In such a scenario, Brandon Johnson would have access to the slickest attorneys that money can buy. Even if he were arrested he would be promptly released, and then Homan would have egg on his face. Chicago's sanctuary city law (which is such a crock) would probably provide cover for anything Johnson or Prickster did to interfere with the raids or deportations. I wish I were wrong and I wish were you were right, because I live in Chicago and I can't stand Brandon Johnson, or JB Prickster for that matter. But, I know better than to get my hopes up.

@scottnaylon as mayor, Lori Lightfoot closed off ICE’s access to Chicago’s criminal database system which would’ve made it much easier to identify and arrest illegal immigrants, or at the very least those with criminal histories. No excuses. Trump should’ve charged her with interfering with the enforcement of federal immigration laws and harboring.

@Waltjoh100 even more reason to cut off their federal funding. A sizable chunk of Chicago’s debt is the money they spent on these illegal immigrants that poured into the city.
