Of course, what did you expect? It's just like the Chicago Teachers Union in 2019 - they had all summer to hammer out a new contract but what did they do? They waited until two weeks after classes started before striking. That way they could guarantee more media coverage and they could say the city was "holding students hostage", "not caring about education" etc., etc., It's a classic union strategy.
