I have a hunch she knew it was a police helicopter and targeted it specifically. Check her social media accounts to see if she's been writing anything negative about the police or military, and then we'll know her motives for sure. On a related note, the U.S. needs to ban the sale of those stupid laser pointers and make their possession illegal.

@alyssahamlett just ban them. They serve no purpose. The world managed to survive a couple of thousand years after the birth of Christ without laser pointers, I think we’ll be just fine without them.
