I just saw a report last week about fare evaders in Toronto on the TTC. It's not just a problem in New York.

It already is free. The fare evaders just walk right on.

@trentbateman thank you, and I agree with everything you wrote except the part where you blamed Trump. What’s to blame for this part is the Child Tax Credit, which dates all the way back to the Clinton administration.

@Tyheir seriously, do Liberals think that they should have to pay for ANYTHING ? They already demand free healthcare, they already demand free housing and free college education and free child care…and now they want free public transportation on top of all that. And why do I feel like, even if these things could ever be and were ever provided free (at taxpayer expense) people would STILL be complaining about having such a hard time paying their bills and making ends meet.

@KidKingdomHearts what if New York's MTA didn't have a "pay-by-distance system" but still required passengers to use card to LEAVE a station? (as an additional deterrent against fare evasion) This would eliminate your gentrification/"tax on the poor" argument.

Fare evasion not “fair evasion”. Even when the Goddamn word is right there in front of you (in the video title) you STILL can’t spell it right. What does it tell you that a 7th grader in Finland can write English better than you can?
