Obviously you don't live in a large city. People CHOOSE to live in the streets because of a drug addiction problem which ostracizes them from their own families. They won't stay in a shelter because shelters don't allow you to drink or smoke or shoot up. If you tried to approach many of these people they would refuse any type of assistance from you (other than cash) and some would even get violent.

@nigachu8249 thanks, I had tried to post this earlier but as a conservative YT censors the bejeezus out of me

@davo1822 in your first comment, you blamed Republicans for homelessness, then another commenter pointed out that the homeless problem is greatest in cities which are overwhelmingly controlled by Liberal Democrats. Then you deflected and claimed that conservative mayors in small towns “ship” their homeless to large cities. A baseless claim and one that’s absurd on its face. San Francisco spent $18 billion on homelessness and the problem got even worse — the homeless population grew even larger. You can also blame the Leftist groups like the ACLU for making it impossible to have people committed to mental institutions like we used to back in the day. So now these people (most of whom are severely dysfunctional as the result of drug addictions) wind up stuck on the streets.

@davo1822 if homelessness is Republicans’ fault, then how come there are so many homeless people living on the streets in places like Chicago or Detroit or Baltimore ? Those are DEMOCRAT-controlled cities (there’s not a single Republican in the entire Chicago board of Aldermen) so what’s your excuse gonna be now? Yeah that’s what I thought. Now shut up and take your seat back at the kiddies table.

@davo1822 first of all, I agree we shouldn’t be spending one dime on these damn illegal migrants. But you’re not going to tell me there are veterans living on the street. Not ON the street. THAT would be disrespectful to veterans. There are shelters for homeless whether they’re veterans or not.

@davo1822 you need to stop believing what you read in Leftist media. Liberals always say ”The shelters are all full! The shelters are all full!” … this is baloney and we saw that this was baloney when the illegal migrants arrived and lo and behold a bunch of shelters suddenly had space and beds for all these people. This is nothing but a Liberal ploy to badmouth the country and criticize Republican politicians for not doing enough to help these “poor oppressed people”. We also hear Liberals talk about how shelters are “dangerous” or how the staff are “abusive”. You come to Chicago and try to tell me it’s more dangerous to sleep in a shelter than sleeping on the Red Line train as it passes 75th Street at 3am. When you hear the word “homeless, you need to differentiate between people living in cars/vans (who shower at the gym) or couch surfing, versus people who actually sleep on the streets in tents, or on subway cars. Sure, there are veterans who maybe can’t afford their own place and who live in cars/vans or maybe couch surfing with friends temporarily until they get back on their feet. But nobody sleeps in tents on street corners or underneath freeway overpasses unless they are a hard-core drug addict. And many of those people will falsely claim to BE veterans to elicit sympathy to get money from people.

@davo1822 I do not use slurs (why on earth would you make that assumption?) but conservative opinions (not just mine) do in fact get suppressed from these threads and YT has many different algorithms for this. For example if a commenter has had a prior comment get many downvotes from Liberals, subsequent comments might automatically be deleted.

@davo1822 small town mayors do not “ship” their homeless to big cities. That’s such a ludicrous suggestion. Even if it were true, it would be getting blasted all over the headlines.

@davo1822 and I am telling YOU that you need to understand the correct definition of “homeless” and not the broad definition that the Leftist media paints. Not all homeless are sleeping on trains or on park benches. I don’t own a house - I rent. Wouldn’t that make ME homeless too? (under the criteria that you’re holding out?) Would I be considered homeless if I temporarily stayed with friends/relatives?
