  2. Americans are full of every excuse as to why high-speed rail can't be built. Their elected officials have lulled them into a sense that it's not possible. Don't tell me it's not possible when we've built the Interstate Highway System.

  3. The US needs high-speed rail because air travel has become a JOKE. Stingy service, long security lines, inflated prices, overbooked flights, ubiquitous hidden fees, overcrowded planes and airports operating at capacity with no room to expand. Airlines hold a MONOPOLY over the travel industry in the US and that is why they are able to get away with what they're doing! Build a high-speed rail system and in no time at all those airlines will be bending over backwards to keep their customers happy. Competition Competition Competition . That is what fosters higher quality and lower prices. It holds true in ANY industry.
