  2. When this conflict started, Ukraine had about 10 functional s300 batteries to cover a country that's 750 miles wide and 500 miles n/s. The range of the S300 is about 100 miles. Without air cover, as soon as you turn on the radar, Russian missiles will blow up the anti-aircraft missile battery. Ukraine probably has no functional defenses left. Don't lose sight of the fact that these were built by the Soviet Union, and Russia knows everything about them including their weaknesses. The NATO supplied systems will require months of training unless NATO personnel staff them, but you still have the problem without air cover they will be sitting ducks. Is NATO ready to send in pilots to engage in dog fights with Russian pilots?
