  1. The big problem that Germany has with turning out lots of military stuff is they don't have any excess energy. BASF is also looking to move production outside of the EU, as many of their products require huge amounts of natural gas.

  5.  @NinaAndCoco  assuming that they mean shifting production of the German tanks, that means tearing out the stamping presses and moving them to the United States. If you do that, they're never going back. Not only do you have the assembly operation, but you have all of the related industries making components. Either they all have to move to the United States also, or now you're talking about having to put parts on ships to cross the Atlanta Ocean. Those ships would be very susceptible to attack if we literally wind up on war footing.

  6. Meanwhile, China has more steelmaking capacity than the entire rest of the world combined. The amount of railroad traffic going from China to Russia (originally traffic to Germany) was up to 40 trains a day. Does NATO/EU really believe they can prevent China from selling steel to Russia? Perhaps Russia could "ban" exports of Chinese steel to Europe!
