  1. The guy from the New Atlas keeps making the point that the victor is going to be the one that shapes the battlefield. Russia is looking five chess moves ahead. They had eight years to think about what they were going to do. The Russian military can be downright brutal when they set their mind to it. Blowing up the Crimean bridge will be the key event that set the stage for what is about to happen.

  5. The big takeaway from the pictures is the metal is bending inward rather than outward. With the high pressure inside the pipeline, a failure would blow outward. This looks very much like shaped charges were used to punch a hole in the pipeline. It also wipes out the crazy conspiracy theories that somehow Russia had put a bomb inside the pipeline.

  9. With covid season ramping up, how is that going to affect this conflict? Having people in Germany huddle together in heating centers to stay warm sounds like an excellent way to transmit covid. How about the Russian army? Do they have adequate resources to deal with battlefield illnesses?
