  2. Pipelines do not have infinite capacity. The reason Nord stream 2 was being built to Germany was Nord Stream 1 was already reaching capacity. During summer, the gas is mostly pumped into storage areas in Europe so it’s available in the winter. An interruption now will show up as a shortage in Europe when it gets cold, even if the flow is resumed

  3. Kazakhstan also has a stake in this decision. All of their natural gas to Europe via the Central Asia pipeline flows through the Russian owned pipelines across Ukraine

  4. The idea in NATO that if Putin was eliminated then all of the problems are solved overlooks the fact that Putin may be the moderate in the Russian government.
