@photoniccannon2117 this comment is so funny that I’d think you’re a genius troll.
It’s too good .
Excuse me……. Wouldn’t someone diagnosed with a developmental disorder that is present due to a lack of neural pruning during the formative stages of brain development, thus causing a lack of empathy processing ability…..
Think they feel empathy? And since they can’t empathize, they think what they’re experiencing is the same as others? Lmfao.
How on earth would you know how I experience empathy? Doesn’t the very fact that you stated it as though you’re certain prove you don’t even understand the notion, much less experience and process it normatively?
You might think you feel others pain as your own……. Then find yourself constantly tricked or abused or manipulated.
Bc you don’t have the empathy to know when people are lying or don’t like you.
You might think you’re feeling someone else’s pain AS YOUR OWN….
And don’t realize that’s not normative empathy. It is step one of empathy. It’s to be instantaneous and last a millisecond before the processing of empathy takes place and you distinguish between someone else’s suffering and your being absolutely fine. Thanks for admitting you can’t do that.
One thing I’ve noticed with autistics is if SOMEONE ELSE is in crisis or pain or agony, it’s the autistic that ends up needing consoling.
Bc they cannot process empathy. lol.
They literally start to take on others pain as their own, instead of EMPATHIZING and processing the empathy.
I’ll hear autistic talk about the “empathy” they feel for worms and animals and inanimate objects and society at large….
All the while NOT EMPATHIZING that no one in the room asked and they’re usurping the conversation and making everyone uncomfortable.
Autism is not a monolith, of course. Anyone on the spectrum can have a different lives experience and difference physiological issues due to the developmental disorder. But the disorder has to be present for an accurate diagnosis of said disorder to be claimed, yes?
Autistic brains and psychopathic brains both lack the neural pruning necesarry to process empathy normally. A true psychopath won’t feel it at all, but if they’re intelligent can work out cognitive empathy. Makes them masters of the universe, unfortunately.
Autistics might be able to FEEL empathy, but then any of what I’ve mentioned above can occur. They cannot process cognitively the visceral empathy they might be feeling.
I’ve had autistic parents hit me when I’m sick bc they literally FEEL sick when I’m sick.
Abusive autistic parents often flail and lash out and have meltdowns when their kids are crying or hurt or in pain bc they “feel it as their own pain.”
Tons of domestic abuse survivors mention spouses being totally fine and neutral…. U til the spouse is in crisis or sick or sad or injured. THEN the abuser starts flailing and lashing out. Very much a hamster mother eating her young to “protect them.” Very “Lenny” from Of Mice And Men hugging things to death.
Yeah, that’s not empathy lmfao. That’s dangerous.
I’ve had autistic friends ghost me when I have a crisis bc “AAAHHH IT HURT TO MUCH!”
In other words, nothing was happening to them….. something horrible medical or violent or whatever was happening to me… and THEY melt down and cry and start acting like THEYRE in crisis.
Yeah that’s not empathy. Lmfao.
That’s the exact lack of empathy processing that’s a diagnostic criteria for autism.
Now, if you get your brain scan and don’t in fact lack any neural pruning, you might not be autistic at all. It was a misdiagnosis.
Alternatively, it might be too late in life to rest so your brain got somewhat pruned through trauma.
But sorry, autistic brains do not undergo the necessary neural pruning to appropriately process empathy during brain development.
It’s what the diagnosis is referring to.
