I read about turning pain off through mindfulness and meditation and I tried it I literally could turn pain off. Have splitting pressure headache from a change in weather and I can turn the pain off. A bruised leg that throbs with pain. I can turn that off. How it works is when I'm going to sleep. I do deep breathing and use my imagination to visualize my idea of what the nervous system is based on my body shape. I imagine following to path to the source of pain and just turn it off. This is being very mindful of my body and relaxing. This works for mild pain like bruises, headaches, aches and pain from work too hard in yard. I've never had the opportunity for extreme pain like broken bones. I've done with a sun burn. Works best when I'm going to sleep. Harder to do during day to day activities.
