I rarely comment on something that I have no knowledge or experience with, & if I do, I make it clear that I don’t have any first hand knowledge of the subject.

Just watched a documentary about the homeless, & they interviewed some poor disabled woman from her driver’s door, she had overheard an officer asking people in a tent why the had salt & pepper shakers, they said to season to their food, & he says, “Well, I have a house & that’s why I have shakers.” I was waiting for someone to comment on some of their nails… I was a manicurist, I’m pretty sure they were $1 press-on nails.

I’m guessing bc the 80s introduced us to many useless things that sparkle & have fleeting value. Children of the 80s & 90s know no different, & if they’re middle class, they’re in the highest tax bracket, which makes them angry about those who are dependent upon government. In the 90s I was contracted to drive the blind into the city for their job training. I had a friend who came from a huge family that was by no means wealthy, but she got lucky bc her dad had connections that got her an extremely well paying government job… she actually said to me, “They’re using my money to transport blind people to school?!”. Yeah, we’re supposed to be a civil society, for which the government was intended to work.

Sorry about that jerk, I grew up around quite a few. Was listening to “Skews” last Tuesday, about 3 states that declined children a free meal (even though it’s a federally funded program). As he said, “It’s an investment in, not only in the children’s future, but the nation as a whole.”. He was able to repay way more back in bc of the federally funded education & food that he received as a child. Basically about to be in your situation, even though I was fortunate enough to find a place owner financed & being extremely frugal, a bout with cancer left me with no savings, unable to maintain it, & city encroachment is such that I’m unable to afford to bring it up to code — city wants more than I paid for the place to access services. So to sell, might leave me with enough to find a reliable car. Would have moved elsewhere, years ago, had there been anywhere else I could have lived cheaper — been hearing single woman saying the same for 15 years now.
