The problems in Africa Feisal is multidimensional, curruption, overpopulation, bad leadership, poverty in general, bad trade deals, legislation, failed western aid programs, ethic groups tensions, great debt, weak tax systems and 100 other things. Its real sad, but I feel nothing has changed much since I was child 40 years ago.

Listen there are plenty articles and documentaries analyzing what has happened the last 30 years and it was bound to end very bad no matter what because of leaders inside Lebanon. The political elite mismanagement and infighting, the religious sects and the division with one fraction having a big private army that everyone is afraid of, the huge curruption, the shady banking system, they refused to do any reforms and change making the electric grit and trash situation horrible. I think they have the highest debt in the world per capita. Every high level and mid-level even low level politician and officials knew about the dangerous cargo for 6-7 years. Reports even say much of it was missing because it is great for making bombs and explosions. When the judge in charge wanted to go after the political elite for the explosion he was kicked out. This is a state that has failed on many levels for 10-20-30 years. I saw an interview with guys from the Bekkaa Valley say there is no one nation, everyone is just fighting for themselves, there are no trust that the government, police, army , justice system will look out for you and treat you fair. They also took in a million Syrians and never gave rights and citizenship to the 200.000 Palestinians. Unfortunately it's a horrible mess and much is their own doing. But yes outside nation has interests in Lebanon like Iran, Syria, France , USA and others, but you could never fully blame them for the incompetence of the Lebanese elite driving the country out over the cliff. The country got big international loans in the past promising doing needed reforms, but they never did. That's why the billions in help do not come this time before clear garanties are gives because of the past.

Well I think it more complex, there are 81 million people in Germany and there has always been poverty and homelessness. Like in all countries, even the most rich. Homelessness is due to a series of circumstances in life. Divorce, lost job, high rent, illness , mental problems, alcohol and drugs , social problems in general, bad luck, financial problems. It's sad wherever you live if you are homeless, it's a difficult and stressful life.

ย @janendegwa5462ย Its human nature to seek the city, just look at ancient Rome. Its estimated a million people lived there at one point, many in deep poverty. Thats why the rulers use the term Bread & Circus aka food and entertainment for the people so they didn't rebel. Take old London, almost 2 million people in 1801 and that exploded to 5,5 million people in 1890. People seek better opportunities, there is hunger, not enough food for 8 children, bandits, illness and so on. UN estimate almost 70 % of world population live in urban areas in 2050. I would personally love to live in the countryside and have an organic farm, but its really hard and difficult work, so I stay in my big city for now ๐๐ป๐ฆ.

"Lebanese customs officials wrote letters to the courts at least six times from 2014 to 2017, seeking guidance on how to dispose of the highly combustible material,ย according to public recordsย cited by a Lebanese lawmaker, Salim Aoun.
Solutions proposed by the officials included exporting the 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate, which is used in fertilizer and explosives, or donating it to the Lebanese Army. But the judiciary failed to respond to the letters, the records suggested.
The general manager of Beirut port, Hassan Koraytem, confirmed that in an interview on Wednesday, saying that despite repeated requests from customs and security officials, โnothing happened.โ

ย @nilajakamau7854ย yeah may be true, but I could name 30 other countries and places doing the same. Ongoing wars and ethics violence in Africa, North Korea, war Yemen, Muslims in China, Kashmir India, Israel- Palestine, Christian persecution in Middle East, gender violence and murder of women in South America, Haiti, Kurds living in Turkey, refugee camps in Greece. The list goes on and on. Human, politics and poverty ๐

ย @georgebenson2133ย I agree negative press is a great problem many places, but my problem with Africa is that no other continent has received aid in trillions and trillion of dollars for 60 years and is still stuck in poverty and war many places. Is it 135 billion dollars Africa get each year ?? The 10 poorest countries in the world, according to the UN human development report, are Niger, the Central African Republic, Chad, South Sudan, Burundi, Mali, Eritrea, the Sierra Lioness and Mozambique. If Africa was a well driven, with honest and good governments, happy and thriving populations in the countries, making great progress in education and development I would have no problem. But we all know who is going to continuing to pay for food aid to Africa, who will pay and take refugees from the African war and conflicts, who will pay when 1 billion people in Africa become 2 billion people. If Africa was self-sustained and independent of the West and others, they could do whatever they want. I'm just tired of paying year after year to messed that seems to continue and has no end in sight. That's why I say population is a problem, its a vicious poverty trap. You lift 20 million people out of poverty, but if 50 million new poor babies are born, you are stuck in the same mud. Northernย Africaย exhibits the highestย unemploymentย rates in the world at over 30percent in 2019. It creates frustration, that create conflicts and war. Egyptians president just said its a huge problem that Egyptians population will go from 100 to 200 million people in 30 years. Africa is big and diverse, but it tops many of the wrong statistics unfortunately.

ย @floodingthesea9366ย I read this a few days ago 9. Feb 2021 :
Egypt on Tuesday opened its border crossing with the Israeli-blockaded Gaza Strip, "indefinitely" allowing the coastal strip's people passage to the outside world, a security source said.
Gaza residents crossing the Rafah border point on Tuesday expressed a mixture of relief and bitterness.
"I've been waiting for six months for the crossing to open," university student Ibrahim al-Shanti, 19, told AFP.
"The repeated closures have cost me a semester of my studies. I hope it's really permanent."
Cairo took the step while hosting talks between Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, and Fatah, which runs the Palestinian Authority in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
The rival movements, along with other Palestinian factions, are discussing holding parliamentary and presidential votes later this year, their first in 15 years.

ย @janendegwa5462ย well many take advantage of Africa, many governments are currupt, big loans with big interests, EU trade deals could be better for Africa, bad tax systems and so on. But I don't understand why you can't see population as problem, just read the UN reports. If governments can't provide jobs, schools, hospitals, good infrastructure, security for a large population growing too fast it create more poverty, frustration, conflicts and wars. I have followed the news on Africa for 40 years, exact same problems as when I was child nothing has changed except for wild population growth. Look at Asia like China and Korea, they were very poor too but controlled birth rates and has become financial power houses. Like 30 % of all pollution stems from making concrete and steel for building houses. A billion more people in Africa is a big problem for all. Researches say that earth population would be in balance around 2,5 billion people. I wish the best for all but we are digging our own graves here on many levels, both East, West, North, South.

ย @georgebenson2133ย I agree many bad things happen in Africa, but like the Middle East its always the same tired argument I hear. " We are completely innocent, we have no power or blame in this mess, we will always be victims of the world, therefore we can do whatever we like without any fault". I must disagree, every grown man has power and responsibility over own life. Take action and be honest in the assessment, what is our part of the problem and what can we do about. And its not true Africa don't make weapons. A report titled 'Trends in International Arms Transfers, 2018,' showed a 6.5 per cent decrease in arms imports in Africa over the last decade. This could be attributed to the fact that more local manufacturers are joining the lucrative industry,Africa Factsย reports that at least 11 African nations currently produce some of the weapons used by the military and police.ย These manufacturing and distribution factories can be found inย South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt,ย Ethiopia, Ghana, Sudan and other parts of the continent. So you may attack me, but I think you are wrong. That said I will always love your music George Benson especially the track " Everything must change".
