  11. The last 3 years has been one long horror show for Turkey, if inflation is like 21 % now and Central Bank is controlled by Erdogan, 2022 will be the same as 2021. You can't fight the whole world of finance, if you have many billions of dollars in debt. More than half of Turkish banking deposits are in foreign currencies, according to central bank data. Turkish banks have in the past lent foreign currencies to the central bank, which it has sold to steady the lira. A sudden rush by Turkish savers and businesses to redeem foreign-currency deposits or move them out of the country could cause the financial system to buckle.
