The problems in Africa Feisal is multidimensional, curruption, overpopulation, bad leadership, poverty in general, bad trade deals, legislation, failed western aid programs, ethic groups tensions, great debt, weak tax systems and 100 other things. Its real sad, but I feel nothing has changed much since I was child 40 years ago.

Totally agree Dino , in a strange way, they live a way we all should. They live of the land, organic farming, minimal energy consumption, pollution and waste, help each other out, don't sitting in their sofas drinking beer and watching Netflix, hard workers , refuse war. I'm not religious, but their approach to life is attractive to me in many ways, would love a beautiful Amish house and a fast horse ๐.

Well there is free will on this planet, God didn't do anything regarding Israel, Palestine or Saudi. Its all just selfish men in power who seek to rule people and make the fate of their countries. I wish you were right though, God would never agree to the mess we make, pollution, poverty, overpopulation, greed, oppression, killings and war, religious fanaticism and so on. I hope 2021 will be a better year for us all.

@MM22658 On November 29, 1947, the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 181 (also known as the Partition Resolution) that would divide Great Britainโs former Palestinian mandate into Jewish and Arab states in May 1948. Under the resolution, the area of religious significance surrounding Jerusalem would remain under international control administered by the United Nations. The United Nations resolution sparked conflict between Jewish and Arab groups within Palestine. Fighting began with attacks by irregular bands of Palestinian Arabs attached to local units of the Arab Liberation Army composed of volunteers from Palestine and neighboring Arab countries. These groups launched their attacks against Jewish cities, settlements, and armed forces. The Jewish forces were composed of the Haganah, the underground militia of the Jewish community in Palestine, and two small irregular groups, the Irgun, and LEHI. The goal of the Arabs was initially to block the Partition Resolution and to prevent the establishment of the Jewish state. The Jews, on the other hand, hoped to gain control over the territory allotted to them under the Partition Plan.
After Israel declared its independence on May 14, 1948, the fighting intensified with other Arab forces joining the Palestinian Arabs in attacking territory in the former Palestinian mandate. On the eve of May 14, the Arabs launched an air attack on Tel Aviv, which the Israelis resisted. This action was followed by the invasion of the former Palestinian mandate by Arab armies from Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Egypt. Saudi Arabia sent a formation that fought under the Egyptian command. British trained forces from Transjordan eventually intervened in the conflict, but only in areas that had been designated as part of the Arab state under the United Nations Partition Plan and the corpus separatum of Jerusalem. After tense early fighting, Israeli forces, now under joint command, were able to gain the offensive.
Though the United Nations brokered two cease-fires during the conflict, fighting continued into 1949. Israel and the Arab states did not reach any formal armistice agreements until February. Under separate agreements between Israel and the neighboring states of Egypt, Lebanon, Transjordan, and Syria, these bordering nations agreed to formal armistice lines. Israel gained some territory formerly granted to Palestinian Arabs under the United Nations resolution in 1947. Egypt and Jordan retained control over the Gaza Strip and the West Bank respectively. These armistice lines held until 1967.

@wannaxwannerx I'm am shocked to read this, shocked ๐. Calling us idiots. I understand it though with your name, not much water left in the tank. But I say be positive, live and enjoy life, change your name to James Highwater. 99,9 % of all species ever lived on planet earth has died out again. We have a small window to shine our light bright. Gaia or earth will survive anything, plastic and pollution is nothing that can't be transformed in 500 year. Did you notice how fast and incredible nature came back in 2020 when the human world was stopped by the pandemic. Amazing clear skies and water, dolphins swimming in the channels of Venice. Life is constant change, its wild and unpredictable, it can't be tamed. I admit we are a destructive species, but nature will hit back hard like with the virus or worse. We are delusional to think that we are in control here.

Listen there are plenty articles and documentaries analyzing what has happened the last 30 years and it was bound to end very bad no matter what because of leaders inside Lebanon. The political elite mismanagement and infighting, the religious sects and the division with one fraction having a big private army that everyone is afraid of, the huge curruption, the shady banking system, they refused to do any reforms and change making the electric grit and trash situation horrible. I think they have the highest debt in the world per capita. Every high level and mid-level even low level politician and officials knew about the dangerous cargo for 6-7 years. Reports even say much of it was missing because it is great for making bombs and explosions. When the judge in charge wanted to go after the political elite for the explosion he was kicked out. This is a state that has failed on many levels for 10-20-30 years. I saw an interview with guys from the Bekkaa Valley say there is no one nation, everyone is just fighting for themselves, there are no trust that the government, police, army , justice system will look out for you and treat you fair. They also took in a million Syrians and never gave rights and citizenship to the 200.000 Palestinians. Unfortunately it's a horrible mess and much is their own doing. But yes outside nation has interests in Lebanon like Iran, Syria, France , USA and others, but you could never fully blame them for the incompetence of the Lebanese elite driving the country out over the cliff. The country got big international loans in the past promising doing needed reforms, but they never did. That's why the billions in help do not come this time before clear garanties are gives because of the past.

We need revolution in consciousness, because we are still very primitive in our psychology, that's why technology wouldn't save us. Humanity is short sighted, driven by sex, money, power, fear and anger, pleasure and the easy way. Why should I sell my car, stop flying on holiday, become vegan, give money to projects, when 7 billion other humans don't give a damn. I live in a small country that has a lot of green energy now, we recycle and many other things, but does it matter at all ?. I read Nigeria has passed 200 million people in population, UN say they will hit 400 in 2050 and the population will further explode to 800 million in 2100. All these new people want smartphones, cars, computers, houses, holidays by plane, Netflix every night ๐. So let nature do its thing, I see no world leader or humanity that can turn this around.

@SiriusOrion-ic1qb yes you are totally right, my country was the same but very long ago. In England they had the case in 1936 with King Edward that abdicated:" Edward became king on his father's death. As king, he showed impatience with court protocol, and caused concern among politicians by his apparent disregard for established constitutional conventions. Only months into his reign, a constitutional crisis was caused by his proposal to marry Wallis Simpson, an American who had divorced her first husband and was seeking a divorce from her second. The prime ministers of the United Kingdom and the Dominions opposed the marriage, arguing a divorced woman with two living ex-husbands was politically and socially unacceptable as a prospective queen consort. Additionally, such a marriage would have conflicted with Edward's status as titular head of the Church of England, which, at the time, disapproved of remarriage after divorce if a former spouse was still alive."

Since the National Security Law was imposed, authorities have cracked down on free speech, the free press and free association," said UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss.
"We have seen a systematic erosion of liberty and democracy in Hong Kong."
Observers say the laws have also created a climate of fear stifling free speech.
Numerous pro-democracy news outlets in Hong Kong have shut down over the past few months, including Apple Daily, which was known to be critical of the mainland Chinese leadership.
Numerous staff members from Apple Daily, including its owner Jimmy Lai, were also arrested and charged under the NSL.
"The arrests worsened the feeling of fear prevalent among journalists since the enactment of the national security law," Chris Yeung, a veteran journalist and former chairman of the Hong Kong Journalists' Association, had earlier told the BBC.
"The national security law has caused far more damaging impacts on freedoms and way of life than many people had envisaged one year ago."

@wannaxwannerx I completely agree with you 100 %, but I'm a realist maybe even a great cynic when it comes to the human race. The psychology and evolution of our brains are driven by selfish ego, sex, money, power, greed, them vs us, pleasure and pain etc. Its still a very primitive mindset compared with our technology today. I see zero great world leaders out there, able to do what is needed. Its nation against nation exploiting nature with capitalism. Over a billion people live in deep deep poverty and overpopulation and population growth is running wild. Egypt despite having huge problems with lack of jobs and fresh water hit 100 million people going for 200 million the next 80 years. Nigeria has hit 205 million people and UN predict they will hit 800 million people in 2100. That is utter and complete madness and no power or moral complex will set in to stop it. And thats just two small examples. Its like we have lost connection, respect and harmony with life itself. In 80 years 11 billion people will walk this earth with small or great climate change to deal with. I live in a nice little safe country, we have green power windmills, trash is sorted, no plastic is thrown in the ocean, power saving light bulbs in my apartment, I don't have a car, I use my bike, I have not traveled with plane for years, I eat local and organic food, mostly vegan. I meditate and love sitting in nature. I donate to charity. So I'm in many ways a model citizen for the future, but I have no say or impact on the big slow wheel of humanity turning for the worse. What is really needed to turn this around would be a " horrible" tyrant that put earth, animal and nature first, that stopped any further population growth and recreated a new balance. Or just a super pandemic, that takes out 5-6 billion people so earth can regenerate. Time will tell.

These are wild and interesting times of change and transformation . Just read the other day " Yes, for the "first time in history," the OS says, magnetic north, true north, and grid north are about to align over Britain. Now these three flavors of north are due to align briefly. The OS says the alignment will make landfall at Langton Matravers, Dorset, this month and reach Poole by Christmas. By August 2024, it'll pass through Hebden Bridge and leave the English coast at Berwick-Upon-Tweed in August 2025. This new data will capture the latest magnetic field signals from the geodynamo operating in the Earth's liquid outer core. Interactions between the flow of the molten iron-rich material in this region and the magnetic field generate electrical currents that, in turn, creates new magnetic flux which sustains the field."

Well I think it more complex, there are 81 million people in Germany and there has always been poverty and homelessness. Like in all countries, even the most rich. Homelessness is due to a series of circumstances in life. Divorce, lost job, high rent, illness , mental problems, alcohol and drugs , social problems in general, bad luck, financial problems. It's sad wherever you live if you are homeless, it's a difficult and stressful life.

@MD-yb5kw On November 29, 1947, the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 181 (also known as the Partition Resolution) that would divide Great Britainโs former Palestinian mandate into Jewish and Arab states in May 1948.
The United States did not become directly involved with the armistice negotiations, but hoped that instability in the Middle East would not interfere with the international balance of power between the Soviet Union and the United States.

@GraniteInTheFace making coconut ๐ฅฅ shells to charcoal has probably been done for a 1000 years, it's about finding the best method. I read that In Indonesia, Yayasan Dian Tama, a small community development group based at Pontianak, West Kalimantan, has developed a simple technology for producing coconut-shell charcoal. The technique involves the use of a 200-litre drum as a kiln, and is claimed to be the most effective way of manufacturing coconut-shell charcoal. In weight terms, the efficiency of conversion has been reported to be as high as 25%, which is twice as high as that achieved by traditional methods. Moreover, the production-time per batch is only about 20 hours, which is very quick.
Preparing the drum - (Figure 1)
1. Make a hole with a diameter of 30cm in the middle of the top part of the drum. The small round plate removed is to be used as a cover.
2. Make small holes at the bottom part of the drum to allow the air to enter.
3. Fix a wooden or bamboo handle onto the round plate so that it will not fall in when used as a cover.
The process - (Figure 2)
a) Put some stones under the drum (in order to let in the air), and fill one third of the drum with coconut shells.
b) Put in a little kerosene - just enough to allow the shells to catch fire, and keep the fire burning for five minutes (you will see black smoke coming out of the drum).
c) After five minutes, put the lid on the drum to put out the fire, and wait until white smoke comes out of the drum.
d) Open the lid and let the smoke out.
e) Add more coconut shell to the drum - as much as 10kg - and wait until more black smoke is emitted, which means the coconut shell is burning. Continue to do this until the drum is filled with charcoal.

Love The Expanse series too, scientists has warned us for decades with 1000s UN reports on climate change. It appears that human psychology of sex, money, power, war, ego, division and short term thinking is much to blame. We need a revolution of consciousness if we gonna make it. I just read an article describing the vicious circle where overpopulation contributions to this self destruction. By 2050 we will be 10 billion people and all want food, housing, cars, new smart phones, fly on holiday, air conditioning when it's hot and so on. I also heard a biologists say that if all insects died, humanity would be gone in 5 years, so enjoy it while you can.

@janendegwa5462 Its human nature to seek the city, just look at ancient Rome. Its estimated a million people lived there at one point, many in deep poverty. Thats why the rulers use the term Bread & Circus aka food and entertainment for the people so they didn't rebel. Take old London, almost 2 million people in 1801 and that exploded to 5,5 million people in 1890. People seek better opportunities, there is hunger, not enough food for 8 children, bandits, illness and so on. UN estimate almost 70 % of world population live in urban areas in 2050. I would personally love to live in the countryside and have an organic farm, but its really hard and difficult work, so I stay in my big city for now ๐๐ป๐ฆ.

"Lebanese customs officials wrote letters to the courts at least six times from 2014 to 2017, seeking guidance on how to dispose of the highly combustible material, according to public records cited by a Lebanese lawmaker, Salim Aoun.
Solutions proposed by the officials included exporting the 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate, which is used in fertilizer and explosives, or donating it to the Lebanese Army. But the judiciary failed to respond to the letters, the records suggested.
The general manager of Beirut port, Hassan Koraytem, confirmed that in an interview on Wednesday, saying that despite repeated requests from customs and security officials, โnothing happened.โ

Ongoing wars and ethics violence in Africa, North Korea, war Yemen, Muslims in China, Kashmir India, Israel- Palestine, Christian persecution in Middle East, gender violence and murder of women in South America, Haiti, Kurds living in Turkey, refugee camps in Greece. The list goes on and on. Human, politics and poverty ๐

@fernandoroberts3591 agree it only works partly when you combine free marked and low curruption like my country Denmark. We have free schools, universities, free hospitals & doctors, subsidized medicine and apartments, benefits, good infrastructure, freedom of speech, good Internet, low pollution, elections every 2-4 years, low birth rate, low crime and so on. In USA we are called a socialist country along with Sweden and Norway. I will say Scandinavia is the only place where it has worked in its own form. Never a dictator or stupid people or fanatics has run the country.

@HappyBloke81 I agree many interfere in the muslim countries like USA, Russia and the west, but plenty of attacts going on by Muslim themselves. Iran is very involved in Syria and support Hizbollah in Lebanon, Saudi is at war with Yemen where Iran play role too, Turkey is at constant armed conflict with the Kurds for decades, there was Iraqi- Iran war in the 80s, Algeria civil war. Marocco's occupation of West Sahara. Arab spring 10 years ago many died, Egypt revolt. Pakistan- India conflict around Kashmir has been going on very long time and many other things. So there are plenty to pick from. Regarding poverty in UN says that 50% of the Worldโs poorest people live in the Islamic World. Every 1 in 5 Muslims lives in extreme poverty. The Muslim countries hold 70% of the worldโs natural resources that includes, oil, natural gas, gold, copper etc. The Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) has 53 Muslim majority countries as its members out of its total membership of 57 countries. 25 members of OIC from Sub-Sahara Africa are amongst the most poverty stricken countries in the world. Muslims are like 1,4 billion people out of 8 billion and still they make for 50 % of all poor. Its sad, I wish the best for all living beings.

@alexanderography thanks for your insight , super interesting reading , crazy how rules and regulations has got out of hand . But I have say it seems like the myth you are speaking of is a myth itself ๐. Here from the APNews in May 2021 "
In recent years, more people have left California for other states than have moved there, a trend Republicans say is a result of the stateโs high taxes and progressive politics. The average sale price of a single-family home in California hit a record $758,990 in March, a 23.9% increase from a year ago.
California has been steadily losing people to other states for years. From 2010 to 2020, about 6.1 million people left for other states and only 4.9 million arrived from other parts of the country, according to an analysis of census data by the Public Policy Institute of California.
But the influx of international immigrants and births outpacing deaths have always been enough to overcome that loss. That changed in 2020.
In a normal year, California might have between 140,000 and 150,000 people move in from other countries. In 2020, it was just 29,000 people โ a direct impact, state officials say, of the Trump administration halting new visas for much of the year.
Global lockdowns because of the coronavirus prompted a 29% decline in international students coming to California, or about 53,000 people.
Births continued their steady decline, mirroring a national trend. But deaths soared as the coronavirus killed 51,000 people in California last year, accounting for a 19% increase of the stateโs death rate compared to the previous three-year average.
โIf it were not for the pandemic last year, we might be having a very different conversation today,โ said Walter Schwarm, Californiaโs chief demographer.
The deaths were more pronounced in the stateโs most populated cities, including Los Angeles, which saw a 27% increase over its three-year average. Overall, Los Angeles lost nearly 52,000 people, the third straight year of decline that has put its population at just over 3.9 million.

The federal report estimates that Californiaโs homeless population was at 161,548 people as of January 2020, prior to the pandemic, a 7% increase from 2019. In Los Angeles County, the number jumped 13% over the same time period, to 66,436 by January of 2020.
On Thursday night, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority hosted its first State of Homelessness event with leaders confirming what Californians have all seen โ homelessness is surging.
โI believe we have 20,000 more on the streets since the last count,โ Andy Bales, president and CEO of the Union Rescue Mission in Skid Row, said Thursday.
This year, LAHSA was forced to cancel its annual homeless count because of the COVID-19 pandemic

Miguel A. Faria's book, Cuba in Revolution (2002), op. cit., pp. 415-416, states the following: "Since Fidel Castro took over the island in 1959, the best figures that we can glean is that between 30,000 to 40,000 people either have been executed en los paredones de fusilamiento (in the firing squad wall) or have died in the hands of their communist jailers. Mr. Faria also estimates: "The best conservative estimate is that between 30,000 to 40,000 Cubans have perished attempting to flee Castro's regime, mostly succumbing in the treacherous waters of the Florida Straits. My figures for death at sea are consistent with Juan Clark's" Cuba: Mito y Realidad.

@georgebenson2133 I agree negative press is a great problem many places, but my problem with Africa is that no other continent has received aid in trillions and trillion of dollars for 60 years and is still stuck in poverty and war many places. Is it 135 billion dollars Africa get each year ?? The 10 poorest countries in the world, according to the UN human development report, are Niger, the Central African Republic, Chad, South Sudan, Burundi, Mali, Eritrea, the Sierra Lioness and Mozambique. If Africa was a well driven, with honest and good governments, happy and thriving populations in the countries, making great progress in education and development I would have no problem. But we all know who is going to continuing to pay for food aid to Africa, who will pay and take refugees from the African war and conflicts, who will pay when 1 billion people in Africa become 2 billion people. If Africa was self-sustained and independent of the West and others, they could do whatever they want. I'm just tired of paying year after year to messed that seems to continue and has no end in sight. That's why I say population is a problem, its a vicious poverty trap. You lift 20 million people out of poverty, but if 50 million new poor babies are born, you are stuck in the same mud. Northern Africa exhibits the highest unemployment rates in the world at over 30percent in 2019. It creates frustration, that create conflicts and war. Egyptians president just said its a huge problem that Egyptians population will go from 100 to 200 million people in 30 years. Africa is big and diverse, but it tops many of the wrong statistics unfortunately.

Jordan is in a difficult spot, they need strong man with iron fist, its the Middle East. They have curruption and huge national debt, some say 20-40% unemployment, millions of Palestinians, unhappy tribal leaders, is one of the driest countries in the world, water scarcity, the pandemic and lock down, USA give 1,5 billion dollars in aid at what cost, 200.000 Syrian refugees, Israel next door. Jordan population 1993 around 4 million people, Jordan 2021 over 10 million people. People are hot, dry and angry, welcome to Jordan.

DavetheSlave I totally agree, geopolitics has done much harm, but there are many layers in it. And there are cases where it has been clearly a bad idea like Venezuela: " After Hugo Chรกvez officially took office in February 1999, several policy changes involving the country's oil industry were made to explicitly tie it to the state under his Bolivarian Revolution. Since then, PDVSA has not demonstrated any capability to bring new oil fields onstream since nationalizing heavy oil projects in the Orinoco Petroleum Belt.
The Chรกvez government used PDVSA resources to fund social programmes, treating it like a "piggybank",and PDVSA staff were required to support Chรกvez. His social policies resulted in overspending that caused shortages in Venezuela and allowed the inflation rate to grow to one of the highest rates in the world. To assuage the oil price decline which began back in June 2014 and continues through to today, President Maduro printed more currency, resulting in inflation as high as 700% of what the inflation rate was in 2014.[The Economic policy of the Nicolรกs Maduro administration did not revive the oil decline, and by 2016, the oil production reached the lowest it had been in 23 years. According to analysts, the economic crisis suffered under President Nicolรกs Maduro would have still occurred with or without Chรกvez"

@asiflulat2597 Hey Asif thanks, Im from Denmark. Well there is both good and bad here of cause, but I just think that we got the basic right. A secular society with critical thinking, free speech and free press, free schools, university, hospitals, social benefits etc. All due to a small population, high taxes, great trust in each other and very low curruption. The bad things are like stress, depression, finding love, worry about getting the corona virus, climate change and the future of the planet. All the normal stuff. The human mind and ego is never truely happy and relaxed for long. I wish you well ๐๐

@coolstuff9453 well they know psychology of human mind, we get sucked in by dopamine rush in the brain. What ever emotions they can trigger will give a reward in brain from happiness, to curiosity, fear, anger and despair. You need healthy interests, strong will, busy life, outdoor hobbies like in nature, meditation, yoga and other normal good body and mind activities to don't get pulled in. And its a group thing, so pressure there too from family and friends so you don't fall of the collective weagon. Sad really

@ghostdancerinthemachine I'm with you all the way, the numbers I have seen is that 2,5 billion people is uptimal for earth. Its just being in harmony and balance with nature, nothing radical about it. And some places its happens natural, like Europe without the migration and refugee numbers, populations was going down. Look at Japan for example is around 125 million people now, has a large old population and low in children, will fall to 85 million in 2100. Thats amazing. China is even better, the 1,4 billion people is natural gonna fall to around 1 billion in 2100. Thats incredible 400 million less there. If only the developed world nations, UN, the pope would break this taboo and create politics about it too. It will hurt everyone if nothing is done or the rich countries will just build huge walls to keep out the masses. But many things can happen, just take 2020, no one in their wildest fantasy could have predicted that year. Will check your book when I have time.

@floodingthesea9366 I read this a few days ago 9. Feb 2021 :
Egypt on Tuesday opened its border crossing with the Israeli-blockaded Gaza Strip, "indefinitely" allowing the coastal strip's people passage to the outside world, a security source said.
Gaza residents crossing the Rafah border point on Tuesday expressed a mixture of relief and bitterness.
"I've been waiting for six months for the crossing to open," university student Ibrahim al-Shanti, 19, told AFP.
"The repeated closures have cost me a semester of my studies. I hope it's really permanent."
Cairo took the step while hosting talks between Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, and Fatah, which runs the Palestinian Authority in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
The rival movements, along with other Palestinian factions, are discussing holding parliamentary and presidential votes later this year, their first in 15 years.

@ThePoushal yeah Swatch is the hero here , between 1970 and 1983, Swiss watch companies decreased from 1,600 to 600 and employment fell from 90,000 to only 28,000 jobs. Smaller workshops and family-run businesses primarily had to file for bankruptcy by the dozens. The recovery of the Swiss watch industry was shouldered in particular by two men: Ernst Thomke and Nicolas G. Hayek. In 1978, Thomke was hired by ASUAG (Allgemeine Schweizerische Uhrenindustrie AG), the second largest watch group after SSIH (Sociรฉtรฉ Suisse pour l'Industrie Horlogรจre), to restructure the production of movements. Thomke decided to simplify the production process and brought all its suppliers together to form a new company, ETA SA, which is still known today for its raw movements. He reduced both production costs and the number of employees and began to speed up the conversion to quartz movements โ and with great success, which soon became clear.

@anasibndawood6696 yes that may be true to some extent, but as far as I can read you also have the existence of ikhtilฤf, where its on a given issue permits Muslims to choose the interpretation of religious teachings that best suits their own circumstances and causes the least harm. So there is room to chose and take action. There is also the Sufi , love the poems of Rumi, it's very free and spiritual way of living Islam. The ancient path of Sufism, or Tasawwuf as it is known in the Muslim world, is the inward dimension of Islam, essentially Islamic mysticism. Sufi practitioners seek to find the truth of divine love and knowledge through direct personal experience of the Beloved. It is a rapturous, deeply devoted and often arduous path, but one with enormous rewards. Sufism is the way to God via emotions and spirituality rather than through reason, and it celebrates the intimate relationship of the seeker with Allah.

@snippets981 you are welcome ๐๐, yes too much fear mongering in the world, the news is based on death and destruction. Turn off and enjoy nature where you, that is what I try. Have a beautiful day wherever you are , bless you โฅ๏ธ
Here is what I have seen of information on Palma.
More than 6,000 people have been evacuated, including 400 tourists who have been taken to the neighbouring island of Tenerife.
The flow of lava has passed through the villages of El Paraiso and Todoque and is making slow progress towards the sea, in some parts at about four or five metres (13 or 16ft) an hour.
To the north, the 12m-high lava flow - reaching 1,000 degrees C (1,830 degrees F) - has almost stopped.
The lava stream was 3,800m long (12,500ft) and 2,100m away from the coast, Spain's Department of Homeland Security (DSN) said in a statement on Friday.

@50tv70 I know that the truth , this injustice and great Nakba ,can be very painful, but if you have time and energy go research on the subject. On March 14, 1991, 200,000 Palestinians were still residing in Kuwait, out of the initial 400,000. The months of March to June 1991 were witness to a sustained Kuwaiti campaign to expel the Palestinian population using methods that combined bureaucratic means and terror,โ according to an article published by Badil, a Palestinian advocacy group.
โThe great majority of Palestinian civil servants were simply fired or not rehired; Palestinian children were expelled from public schools; educational subsidies were terminated; and heavy financial burdens were placed on Palestinians who wished to remainโฆ For those who didnโt get the message, there was always the threat of arbitrary arrest.โ
It was a horrible time for these poor people replaced again. I say activist fight for the right to return to Kuwait and make them pay reparations for the Nakba and give them back their houses and land.

@janendegwa5462 well many take advantage of Africa, many governments are currupt, big loans with big interests, EU trade deals could be better for Africa, bad tax systems and so on. But I don't understand why you can't see population as problem, just read the UN reports. If governments can't provide jobs, schools, hospitals, good infrastructure, security for a large population growing too fast it create more poverty, frustration, conflicts and wars. I have followed the news on Africa for 40 years, exact same problems as when I was child nothing has changed except for wild population growth. Look at Asia like China and Korea, they were very poor too but controlled birth rates and has become financial power houses. Like 30 % of all pollution stems from making concrete and steel for building houses. A billion more people in Africa is a big problem for all. Researches say that earth population would be in balance around 2,5 billion people. I wish the best for all but we are digging our own graves here on many levels, both East, West, North, South.

@georgebenson2133 I agree many bad things happen in Africa, but like the Middle East its always the same tired argument I hear. " We are completely innocent, we have no power or blame in this mess, we will always be victims of the world, therefore we can do whatever we like without any fault". I must disagree, every grown man has power and responsibility over own life. Take action and be honest in the assessment, what is our part of the problem and what can we do about. And its not true Africa don't make weapons. A report titled 'Trends in International Arms Transfers, 2018,' showed a 6.5 per cent decrease in arms imports in Africa over the last decade. This could be attributed to the fact that more local manufacturers are joining the lucrative industry,Africa Facts reports that at least 11 African nations currently produce some of the weapons used by the military and police. These manufacturing and distribution factories can be found in South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Sudan and other parts of the continent. So you may attack me, but I think you are wrong. That said I will always love your music George Benson especially the track " Everything must change".

Dom Kiko Nearly 10,000 rape cases and more than 6,100 murders were reported in South Africa between July and September this year, according to official data released on Friday.
The number of rape cases stood at 9,556 โ an increase of 634, or 7.1%, from the third quarter of 2020 โ while murders were up by 1,056, or 20.7%, to 6,163, the countryโs latest crime statistics showed.
There were also 72,762 cases of assault in South Africa in the third quarter of 2021.

@samfetter2968 I hear many calls for giving the ukraine military these tanks, if they had them tanks 3 months ago they would already be in use to help end this mess. You write it like they need 2 years to be ready to use them properly, which I find completely wrong. I read several former soldiers say driving tank is easy , plus there are plenty of foreign specialists on the battlefield in the ukraine. I think official numbers are 20.000 international fighters from 52 countries. Also US & Nato train the ukraine soldiers every day in using latest weapons systems. The United States has provided more than $11 billion in aid to Ukraine since January 2021. This includes systems like the Javelin anti-armor system, the Stinger anti-aircraft weapon, unmanned aerial systems, grenade launchers, howitzers, helicopters, tactical vehicles, counter-artillery radars, armored personnel carriers, high-mobility artillery rocket systems and millions of rounds of ammunition.

@mostafaamr6745 I totally agree that an agreement should done trough negotiations that is fair to all parties. I wish for no conflict at all, but what I have seen, it has been like Egypt is not humble in any ways and past history can feed a negative talk climate. Regarding the situation and my lack of knowledge of river right laws I can only tell what I read last year in Nature magazine : " Water-resources researcher Kevin Wheeler of the Environmental Change Institute at the University of Oxford, UK, says that in a year with average rainfall, Egypt should experience little or no additional water scarcity if the reservoir is filled over 5โ7 years, with at least 35 billion cubic metres of water released downstream.
Harry Verhoeven, a Nile Basin researcher based in Qatar, says that ultimately there is little Egypt can do, and policymakers in Cairo will have to adjust to maybe having less Nile water during the damโs filling.
Verhoeven says that Egypt could take the dispute to the International Court of Justice in The Hague, the Netherlands, but that would require both sides to agree to such arbitration. Even if they did agree, he predicts, the court would be unlikely to find in Egypt's favour. โEthiopia has a right to develop the water resources in its territory,โ he says." I hope and pray for a good solution for all. Happy Easter ๐๐๐๐

@klayman2 well it was only 4 million world wide, but I get your point, but it seems you didn't get mine. I don't know where you live, but my country made a hard lock down and I think just 2500 has died from covid here. Many who died were old or sick already or overweight. It's a tragedy for sure, but the whole society suffered big time. I argue for a soft lock down where those at risk are protected and children plus other low risk can live their life as normal. Mental health has suffered enormously for maybe billions of people. We live in a brutal world, 400.000 die each year from malaria, why doesn't the rich people or countries help with malaria medicine ?? I read somewhere that 100.000 die each year from snakebites, that is just horrible. Imagine you are dancing happy half naked in the field and boom ๐ฅ the snake ๐ gets you and its game over. Where is God, where is justice โ , does this goes back to Adam & Eve, I don't know. It's dangerous to be alive man, so watch out.

Abdallah Hussein wow cool story, I hope he had a long and good life. But still your historical incorrect, all in historic palestine was called Palestinians. Of cause lot have changed since and I hope the best for all. Have a great summer ๐
The Ottoman Empire was dissolved at the end of World War I in 1918. On April 19, 1920, the San Remo conference convened by four World War I Allied Powers - Britain, France, Italy and Japan - adopted a resolution noting that the Mandate for Palestine will be responsible for carrying out the Balfour Declaration, for the establishment of the Jewish national home.
In 1922 Britain allocated nearly 80% of Palestine to Transjordan. Thus, Jordan covers the majority of the land of Palestine under British Mandate. Jordan also includes the majority of the Arabs who lived there. In other words, Jordan is the Arab portion of Palestine.
In 1923, the modern Republic of Turkey (that is the successor of the Ottoman Empire), signed the Lausanne Treaty agreeing to transfer territories (including Palestine) to the control of the British Empire.
Under the British rule, the residents of Palestine were called "Palestinians". Since Palestine included both modern day Israel and Jordan, both Arab and Jewish residents of this area were referred to as "Palestinians".

@amron_sf That is true Denmark is always on top on that list, but I would say its based on a false premise. There are plenty of depressed, stressed, alcoholic, sick, unemployed, suicidal people here. Its more like we get top score because its pretty safe, free schools, universities, hospitals, benefits, no wars, democracy and so on. On a fundamental level our base needs are being met which gives a sense of happiness in general. But danish people are not warm and open people unless you start to know them, so it can be a hard and cold place for expats.

@user-jz9kw1xt9u The etymology of the word โPhilistinesโ is unknown, though it is doubtless of Indo-European origin. Already in the 12th century BCE the Egyptian Pharaoh Rameses III knows them as the plst, and later the Assyrians called Philistia Palashtu or Pilistu. In the Septuagint Old Testament the word โPhilistinesโ is often rendered โforeignersโ (Greek allophuloi), though in the Pentateuch and Joshua it is transliterated as Phulistim or suchlike.
Origin
There is a general consensus that the Philistines originally came from the Aegean area. Various aspects of their material culture support this. For example, the earliest Philistine pottery is continuous with Mycenaean (Late Helladic) IIIC pottery. The Old Testament is more specific, claiming several times that the Philistines came from Caphtor (Jer 47:4; Amos 9:7; compare Gen 10:14 [according to some translations]; Deut 2:23), which is widely believed to denote Crete, the inhabitants of which were called Keftiu by the ancient Egyptians. Note, for example, that the kilted Keftiu depicted bearing tribute in the Egyptian tomb of the vizier Rekhmire in Thebes (ca. 1450 BCE) strongly resemble the Cretans represented in the palace of Knossos in Crete. Again, in the anti-Philistine oracles in Ezek 25:16 and Zeph 2:5, they are called Cherethites (Cretans).
So basically they are feta eating Greeks

@xfinity8602 Yes it would be nice to see it for our self, though I doubt we will get acces to full truth and honesty that way either. Read an article not long ago say this : "The Ramallah-based Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR) said Hamas forces attacked its staff in Gaza because they were doing their job of monitoring and reporting the movementโs crackdown on the street protests.
ICHR director Ammar Dweik said that Hamas forces attacked and severely beat the director of its Gaza branch, Jamil Sarhan, and its attorney, Baker Turkman, and seized their mobile phones.
He said Hamas wants to silence rights groups who are monitoring the protests.
โWe are deeply alarmed and shocked by the way our staff in Gaza were treated,โ Dweik told Palestine TV, pointing out that this is the first time in 25 years since the ICHR was established that its staff is treated in such a manner. Victim of Hamas brutality, the ICHR, according to Dweik, will rethink its working in Gaza.
He noted that while this is the way human rights defenders are treated, what is actually happening to the civilians in the street is a lot worse."
I hope they all get tired of the endless pain and suffering they create and good honest men step up and take responsibility to move things forward. I wish you the best ๐๐.
The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate has also condemned Hamasโ attack on journalists and said that reporters covering the protests were attacked in the streets and at their homes and their equipment was seized.
It said Hamas exercised brutal force against protesters and journalists, leaving many wounded.

@filip8985 thank you for your sharing ๐. Yes I know it's a huge change we need to make on many levels to make it work. Regarding population size I see many problems stem from that in the first place. Some researchers say the Syrian civil war was triggered by drought and a big population. In 1950 there were 3 million Syrians, now (2021) 25 millions are scattered all over the place. 1 million Syrian refugees in Lebanon, a country that has almost collapsed, 3.5 million in Turkey creating a number of problems. Image Syrian population was only growing like Denmark the last 70 years, from 4.5 million to 5.5 millions, where 500.000 are immigrants. Take Madagascar despite a wealth of abundant and diverse natural resources, Madagascar is one of the world's poorest countries. They went from 4.5 million people in 1955 to around 30 million today. There are great hunger there at the moment, much pain and suffering. I would say that Island can't sustain 30 million people in a balanced way. Jordan , one the most dry places in the world , has very little water, went from 600.000 to 10 million people, they struggle every day. The future looks very bleak. Nigeria will never get out of deep deep poverty because population growth run amok. It's very sad. They are 206 million people going to be 260 million people the next 8 years. Can't you see what implications it has on the country and it neighbors, conflicts and pain. Many of them live of $ 3 a day, no government can help them out of poverty. It's super positive that Japan will go from 125 million people to 80 million the next 80 years, same with China 1,4 billion to around 1 billion. But we will still hit 11 billion people the next 80 years. 100 of more millions that want a polluting car , a mobile phone, a house etc. Wild capitalism and the idea of constant growth in a limited world of resources is extremely destructive, we are heading for some sort of collapse. Look into what makes a healthy sustainable eco system any place, it's balance between the parts and numbers. Our problem is that we are the top of the food chain on this planet, no one holding us accountable and we don't respect nature and its systems. We need to be adaptive and creative with whatever challenge we meet, we know what is coming. The UN Climate repports the last 30 years are very accurate.

@AQWOMAR9 okay I will stop speaking the truth, but just one last bit though:
Suheib Yousef โ son of Hamas co-founder Sheikh Hassan Yousef, and brother of Mosab Yousef, who became know as the โGreen Princeโ for his efforts to help the Shin Bet thwart terror attacks โ secretly left his post in Turkey and flew to an unnamed country in Asia.
Meeting at first in a mosque, Yousef, 38, described how he worked for Hamasโs โpolitical branchโ in Turkey, which was in reality an intelligence gathering operation. He was working for Hamas until a month ago, the TV channel said.
Yousef said this was just one of the areas where he became disillusioned with the Gaza-based Hamas, saying its activities were only aimed at spreading its power to the West Bank.
Yousef said he had also become increasingly angry at the corruption of senior Hamas people living in luxury in Turkey while Gaza suffered.
โHamas leaders [in Turkey] live in fancy hotels and luxury towers, their kids learn at private schools and they are very well paid by Hamas. They get between four and five thousand dollars a month, they have guards, swimming pools, country clubs,โ he said.
โWhen I lived in Turkey I was shocked by the behavior of the Hamas members. They ate in the best restaurants, I would see them eating at places where it one course cost $200,โ he said. โThey loved to invite each other out for these meals.โ
โThey pay $200 for one course for one person and a family in Gaza lives on $100 per month?โ he said.

Mango Musolinni sadly I must agree with all that you say about the muslim fanatics, but on a higher level there is plenty of geopolitical tensions around that makes chaos and death. Americas involvement in all kinds of wars and conflicts the last 70 years is not really justified. France has many soldiers in Africa on missions, Russia has soldiers different places fighting, China / India border conflict, big sanctions on Iran, cuba and Venezuela create more poverty and pain. To me its just 5000 years of humanity on repeat. I had hoped for more evolution at this point, but overpopulation, greed, men hungry for power and so on makes it hard. Im quite spiritual, so I say seek the kingdom within, find peace there and follow your heart, take action from there. Just very sad for those innocent souls in Africa.

@LewisNuke92 Russia's Wagner Group has been present in Sudan since 2017. And amid the unfolding power struggle in the country, some have expressed fears that the mercenary group is fuelling the conflict and possibly acting on behalf of the Kremlin.
"It's so striking that anywhere there is instability or an attack on democracy in Africa, that Wagner group is involved and more often than not they are on the side of the militia," said Emmanuel Kotin, a security expert and executive director of the Africa Centre for Security and Counterterrorism think tank.
"Look at Burkina Faso, for instance, all of the countryโs mines are taken over by proxies of the Wagner group. The same thing that is happening in Sudan and in Mali," he added.
According to a number of international investigations, the Wagner Group's goal in Sudan is to provide Moscow access to resources, which, Russia then uses to finance the war in Ukraine. One of its main objectives is acquiring gold, as Sudan is the third largest producer of the mineral in Africa.
