You're all missing the point. Chump has been banned (rightly so), the question is, how long for? I'd say 5 years, should give him long enough to put on his big-boy pants and grow up a little (or be too senile to have any governmental responsibility). If he does it again (he will), the ban should be permanent. Free speech is free speech. But insurrection talk, and calls to arms, they need to be stamped down on hard.

@erismana2105 FOS applies to civil discourse. It does not apply to technology that was invented so long after FOS, as a concept, was born. And, as you should know by now, even in public discourse, there are limits. You can't yell out "FIRE" in a packed cinema, for example. So "Freedom of Speech" is a fine buzzword for you libertarians to chuck around, but it is not the simple black-and-white, one-size-fits-all solution you think it is. In fact, in this case it is pretty meaningless.

I wonder if social media should be more tree-shaped. So that assertion X would have agreeing comments to the left (say), disagreeing comments to the right, and those with nuances in the middle. So you could see, on the topic of Covid mask mandates (a topic from the past, largely) that 4000 people agreed, 2000 had nuances, and 900 disagreed. That tells you something useful right there. How many people come out with outrageous crap because they saw it on Faux News, so it must be right, so everyone who disagrees must be lying or stupid. This design for social media might tell them at a glance, nah, I guess 4000 people seem to know something I don't, maybe I'll look into it!

@bait668 I really don't think the Q crowd are interested in the truth of what he writes, dumb or not! They have become adept at adapting the story to explain any deviation from reality. Or treating comments as a kind of metaphor, to explain away the stupidity. Case in point, the undeadcorpse above...

And yes, Donald the dick did say people should be peaceful. Once. So he had a flimsiest pretense of plausible deniability. I was expecting Elon to sound idiotic, but he didn't. I don't really agree with him, but he sounded like he at least had tried to think things through. Not like most puny-minded "libertarians", who end up advocating other people should lose some of their liberties...
