Just because you were "born and raised" under falsehood, doesn't mean that the truth isn't out there. To wit, "Jesus saith unto him (Philip), I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6) And again, our Lord Jesus declares his unity with God the Father: "Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I say unto you I speak not from myself, but the Father abiding in me doeth his works." (John 14:10) I have personally known and spoken with many JW's, and have found them, for the most part, to be honest and sincere people who have unfortunately been exposed to false teaching most of their lives. As the Lord Jesus has said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:32) Cheers.

Religion (Greek, θρησκεία, thrēskeía), in the sense of mankind's efforts to make oneself acceptable to any external deity (God) through self-effort or imposed rituals is WORTHLESS. Jesus Christ did NOT come into this world to establish a new "religion." There was a perfectly valid "religion" (a God-given religion, if you will) in existence at that time--Judaism. Unfortunately, by the time that Jesus appeared on the scene, Judaism had devolved into a law-bound system focused upon externalities and strict observances of minutiae, and had omitted the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faith.
This is why the self-righteous Pharisees were the objects of Christ's unsparing denunciation. The Pharisees presented an attractive external façade, but "inside were full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness." (Matt. 23:27b) Christianity is not a religion, but rather, as the Apostle Paul taught, "...Christ in you, the hope of glory." (Col. 1:27) And, "...that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith." (Eph. 3:17) Amen.
