  1. Maybe 10 years ago, Portugal would have been a good idea. But it’s fast becoming just another overrated European legacy name brand. Despite all its social issues, Mexico is still a better, lower cost option with an easier language to learn. ¡Viva México!

  2.  @rcc8506  If you stay away from the trouble spots and border towns, you'll be just as safe as (or safer than) any major U.S. city. The cartels mainly shoot each other, not tourists unless they happen to be in an area under dispute.
