  1. Recently upgraded an older HP notebook from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 11 (Home). The same issue presented itself when I did the installation. When the install program asks you to enter your M/S account, simply unplug the ethernet cable from your PC (or unplug your router, if you're using WiFi). The installation will then skip this step and allow you to login with a local account. Worked for me.

  2.  @pineappleroad  Oops, my mistake. I meant to say Windows 10, not W11. My laptop won’t support W11.
