  1. If the saying is true (and I think it is) that people get the leaders they deserve, then it might explain why, even to this very day, dictator Josef Stalin is more popular than ever in Russia. A remarkable 70% of Russian respondents say the late dictator of the former Soviet Union played a “positive role” for Russia. A further 51% of respondents said they viewed Stalin as a person in a “favourable light.” Is it any wonder why Putin is so popular today?
