  3. The best strategy vis a vis Russia is simple…just wait. Demographically, Russia is a shrinking, dying nation. Within 10 years, Russia won’t even have enough young men to properly equip its army. Yes, they’ll still have their nukes, but so what? Everyone, including the USA, is afraid to use them for fear of mutually assured destruction. In the 1980’s, the U.S. simply outspent the USSR to the point that the Soviet system collapsed into bankruptcy. Even if Putin does manage to “take Ukraine,” what will he have taken? Another bankrupt failed state, just like Belarus. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor.
