“The Jews, I find are very, very selfish,” Truman wrote on July 21. “They care not how many Estonians, Latvians, Finns, Poles, Yugoslavs or Greeks get murdered or mistreated as D[isplaced] P[ersons] as long as the Jews get special treatment. Yet when they have power, physical, financial or political neither Hitler nor Stalin has anything on them for cruelty or mistreatment to the underdog." - President Harry S. Truman (diary, 21 July 1947) Looks like good old HST had the right idea about them.

Ashkenazi “Jews” are NOT biblical Israelites. Instead of being primarily the descendants of the 12 tribes of Israel, present-day Jewish populations are primarily descendants of Turkish peoples who lived in what is now Russia, north of Georgia, east of Ukraine. Indeed, a substantial proportion of the population originates from local Europeans who converted to Judaism. In fact, more than 80% of Ashkenazi DNA has European ancestry on the maternal side. The real question is not, “Are these people Jews?”, but rather, “Are these people Americans?” And the answer is obviously NOT. Their everyday language isn’t English, but Yiddish, a vernacular based on High German fused with many elements taken from Hebrew and to some extent Aramaic. Yiddish originated in 9th century Central/Eastern Europe, and these Ashkenazi brought it over to America from there. Being an American entails MORE than simply having been physically born here. It involves embracing the American culture and way of life, not importing a foreign culture and language into a new country. Again, this isn’t about religion—people are free to practice (or not) any form of worship they choose. Just because a people may have adopted rabbinic Judaism as their religion does NOT make them the physical posterity of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Nor does it give them any right or claim to the land of Palestine. They need to return to eastern Europe and the Caucasus whence they originated.

There is no monolithic "safe" country. In every nation, there are certain areas that are safer than others. For example, in the U.S. there are very "unsafe" areas such as Detroit, MI or E. St. Louis, MO or Oakland, CA. Then there are places such as Logan, UT, Gilbert, AZ or Portland, ME, which are all very safe. The moral of the story? Don't blindly move anywhere until you've done your due diligence to consider ALL factors (safety, cost of living, climate) affecting your choice of a new location. It only takes a few "bad" areas to drag down any country's overall safety rating.

They can changes their name(s) all they want, but that doesn't change the fact that they still remain a non-Christian cult.
1) LDS doctrine teaches that Adam is God (Elohim). But he wasn't always God, but "himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man." (Joseph Smith)
2) That there is no trinity, but that there are three separate gods that have physical bodies (Elohim, Jesus and the Holy Ghost).
3) That Jesus is the spirit brother of Lucifer/Satan.
4) That Jesus wasn't conceived by the Holy Spirit, but rather that Adam-God (Elohim) fathered Jesus through physical relations with Mary.
5) That the blood of Christ doesn't finally save you from your sins, but that you must work for your own salvation, and in some cases, shed your own blood to atone for your sins.
I could go on and on, but I think you're starting to get the picture of how false Mormonism is.

First, they (state of CA) came for the super-rich, but I wasn't super-rich, so I did nothing. Then they came for the normal rich, but I wasn't a normal rich, so I did nothing. Then they came for the merely affluent, but I wasn't merely affluent, so I did nothing. Then they came for the middle class, and, lo and behold, they couldn't find any!

You will find that approximately 90% of people in the world today who call themselves Jews are actually Khazars, or as they like to be known, Ashkenazi Jews. This simply means “German” Jews. The name “Ashkenaz” can be traced back to Gen. 10:2-3, where the sons of Japheth (NOT Shem) are listed. One of Japheth’s sons is Gomer, who begat Ashkenaz. Please note that Ashkenaz is NOT in the line of Shem, and therefore is NOT a Semite. Ashkenazi Jews are actually Gentiles by descent. The fact that their ancestors may have converted to rabbinic Judaism many centuries ago, does NOT make them Israelites, nor does it entitle them to any Biblical claim to the land of Palestine. That would be akin to someone converting to Shintoism, and then claiming to be Japanese, along with the right to territory in Japan. Preposterous. These people knowingly lie to the world with their claims that the land of Israel is theirs by birthright, when in actual fact their real homeland is over 800 miles away in modern-day Georgia, in the southern Caucasus. The only residents of Palestine that are descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob would probably be the Sephardic, Mizraic and Yemenite Jews. So, next time you hear an Israeli Prime Minister bleating about the so-called persecution or harassment of the Jews, consider this: EVERY Prime Minister of Israel since 1948 has been an Ashkenazi Jew. Therefore when all these Prime Ministers, all of whom are Ashkenazi Jews, have curried favor with the West for their re-establishment of a Jewish homeland, they have knowingly and deliberately lied, as they were never from that region, and they well know it, because it is they who call themselves Ashkenazi Jews.

After having lived in California for 35+ years, we finally gave up on trying to adapt to the "progressively" worsening conditions. Which? Ever increasing taxes and bonded indebtedness by the left-wing state government; adding more benefits & services for illegals (oops, I mean undocumented immigrants). Governor Gavin (The Nuisance) Newsom is still stuck in the 1970's, knowing only how to increase taxes and the size of government. Air pollution, urban sprawl, homelessness and gang violence are all out of control. We said, "Enough!" and relocated to ***, and have never had any cause to regret our decision. *** has a much smaller, less intrusive state government, along with with modest, reasonable taxes. And the violent crime rate is miniscule compared to CA. People can still leave their cars unlocked at the local shopping mall (I don't--too many years of living in CA). I'm almost afraid to post this comment, on the chance that it might bring more disgruntled/liberal Californians over here to ****, and ruin a wonderful place to live. Any middle class people that still opt to remain in the (not so) Golden State, do so at their own peril.

With good reason did Andrew recommend that you make Vanuatu only a 4th or 5th tier passport. The archipelago, which is of volcanic origin, includes 83 islands, 65 of which are inhabited, covering a total land area of 12,274 square km (4,739 square mi), which is slightly larger than the U.S. state of Connecticut. There are several active volcanoes in Vanuatu, as well as several nearby underwater volcanoes; this means volcanic activity, along with accompanying tsunamis, is an ever-present danger. Vanuatu is also frequently subject to tropical cyclones. In addition, most of the population does not have access to a reliable supply of potable water. Deforestation and water pollution are ongoing problems as well. Added to all of these concerns, the northern islands of Vanuatu are having issues with rising sea levels, which may require relocation of some of their citizens. Still want a Vanuatu "honorary" citizenship? Think I'll pass on that one.

I can empathize with your situation. Leaving the USA was not an option for me either (age, family), but at least I was able to "go where I'm treated better." That is, I was able to relocate from a horrible dystopian, high-tax state (California) to a very decent, clean, lower-tax state with a much less intrusive government. Think (Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, etc.) For me, this was the "better" option. Cheers.

When people bought homes to simply live in, as opposed to an investment for appreciation (capital gain), this never used to happen. From January 1953 to January 1973, the median home price in the U.S. increased from ~ $18,000 to ~ $27,000, a 50% increase over a period of 20 years. That's an incremental increase of only 2.5% per year. However, from January 1973 to January 1993 the median home price shot up to ~ $100,000, a whopping 370% increase for that 20-year period. Whereas, wages for the same 20-year period remained essentially flat. People used to be able to purchase a home for ~ 3-4 times their annual incomes. IOW, someone earning $9,000 in 1973 could afford to buy a home valued at $27,000. But with wages remaining stagnant and housing prices skyrocketing, many, if not most, families find themselves priced out of the housing market.

I'm not too sure what you consider "boring," but there are plenty of places in Portugal that have a vibrant nightlife. Plus, for you, language wouldn't be a problem, since you're fluent in Portuguese, right? I would avoid moving to any English-speaking, current or former British colony, since they're all heading in the direction of confiscatory taxation and fascist government. That includes the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Canada, and especially, the USA. I've heard some positive things about the nation of Belize in Central America, where English is the official language, but I'd also have some concerns regarding both safety and health care in Belize. Cheers.

Rossini’s 1815 opera, "The Thieving Magpie," tells of a household maid who nearly goes to the gallows for stealing silver from her employers. At the last instant, it’s revealed that the silver thief was actually a magpie that had been hiding items in the church tower. The opera was so popular in its day that it’s believed to have helped cement the devious reputation of the magpie. Today, it “seems” common knowledge that the Eurasian Magpie is, by nature, drawn to snatch up and fly off with shiny things.
But scientists at Exeter University put the perception to the test. They placed food alongside shiny and painted objects and then waited for the magpies to come investigate. The result? The opposite of what everybody expected: the magpies were much more cautious around novel, flashy objects—and less likely to approach the food. Magpies are very curious, just like their relatives, the jays and crows. They may sometimes pick up shiny things, but they don’t show any preference for shiny over dull. A magpie’s more likely to grab your sandwich than your silver.

While renting may seem more affordable upfront, it does not contribute to a person’s net worth. Renting involves paying for a service, in this case, housing, without any long-term return. Over the years, rent payments add up, and that money is essentially gone forever, with no equity gained in exchange. Homeownership, on the other hand, acts as a forced savings mechanism. Each mortgage payment contributes to building equity, and rising home values can further amplify this wealth. The stark truth is that homeowners’ median net worth is about $400,000, compared to just $10,400 for renters. Is it any wonder that the elites want to reduce everyone to renter status?

@Jay...777 Consider the evolution of the term "liberal" over the past 3 centuries. At one time, Liberalism signified a political and moral philosophy based on liberty, consent of the governed and equality before the law. Liberals espoused a wide array of views, depending on their understanding of these principles, but they generally supported limited government, individual rights, democracy, secularism, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion and a market economy with a minimum of government interference. Fast forward to the 21st century, and the term "liberalism" has morphed into a philosophy favoring big, pervasive government, aggressive foreign interventionism (especially neo-liberalism, which is a bedfellow with neo-conservatism), social engineering, enormous government (deficit) spending, erosion of privacy rights and economic freedom, and an authoritarian statist regime, regardless of which major party happens to be in power. IOW, Joe Biden is merely a demented version of Donald Trump with an active Twitter account. Cheers.

Finland, Austria, Estonia, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Israel, Turkey, Brazil are all countries that have mandatory conscription for males 18 and over. Length of service varies with each country, but generally lasts 18-24 months. Plus, Israel and Switzerland both have lengthy reserve/training requirements until ages 40-50 in some cases.

Don't allow the lack of a personal (or corporate) state income tax fool you into moving to either place. True, if you're an extremely high net worth individual (think Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos), then relocating to Texas or Florida MIGHT make sense. But how many people fall into that category? Very few, I trow. For the average middle class person, saving on income taxes is usually more than offset by having to pay very high property taxes, PLUS very high utility bills. I mean, who really wants to live in Texas or Florida during the summertime without air conditioning? Case in point--I have a family member who lives in Austin, TX, and his monthly electric utility bills for a comfortable home run anywhere from $300-400 per month on average. And his property taxes on that same home run well over $1200 per month. Are you willing to pay nearly $20K per year just to live in Austin? And living in a major metropolitan area in Florida is very similar. In fact, some of the highest-priced real estate in the USA is located in south Florida.
For people who absolutely detest having to pay STATE income taxes (especially those living in California), then there are lower cost options: Nevada, if you don't mind the heat in Las Vegas; or Wyoming or South Dakota, if you don't mind some colder weather. For people living in SoCal especially, southern Nevada is a very attractive option for staying close to family. Cheers.

The UAE/Dubai continue to commit serious human rights violations, including arbitrary detention, cruel and inhuman treatment of detainees, suppression of freedom of expression, and violation of the right to privacy. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) continue to deprive stateless individuals of the right to nationality, impacting their access to a range of services. According to Human Rights Watch, the UAE detains those who criticize authorities, including hundreds of activists and academics, and Emirati laws discriminate against women, migrants and LGBT individuals. Flogging and stoning are legal forms of judicial punishment in the UAE due to Sharia courts. As a result, the UAE routinely ranks near the bottom of many international measures for human rights and press freedom. So if money is all you care about, then by all means live in Dubai/UAR. Just keep your opinions to yourself and you'll be fine.

For ONCE in his life, JB has a valid point. Russia HAS to take Ukraine in order to secure the choke point(s) she formerly held during her days as the USSR. Before the breakup of the Soviet Union, Russia held all 9 (land) choke points. After the breakup, Russia was reduced to only 1. As a land power, Russia is inherently vulnerable. It sits on the European plain with few natural barriers to stop an enemy coming from the west. East of the Carpathian Mountains, the plain pivots southward, and the door to Russia opens.
It should be no surprise then that Russia’s national strategy is to move its frontier as far west as possible. The first tier of countries on the European Peninsula’s eastern edge—the Baltics, Belarus, and Ukraine—provide depth from which Russia can protect itself, and also provide additional economic opportunities. With regard to the current battle over Ukraine, the Russians have to assume that the Euro-American interest in creating a pro-Western regime has a purpose beyond Ukraine. From the Russian point of view, not only have they lost a critical buffer zone, but Ukrainian forces hostile to Russia have moved toward the Russian border. FYI, from Kharkiv to Moscow is only 648km (403 miles). At the same time, the West cannot assume that Russia—if it reclaims Ukraine—will stop there. Therefore, we are in the classic case where two forces assume the worst about each other. But Russia occupies the weaker position, having lost the first tier of the European Peninsula. It is struggling to maintain the physical integrity of the Motherland.
Russia is a relatively poor nation. Therefore, it isn’t prosperity that binds the country together, but a shared idealized vision of and loyalty toward Mother Russia. And in this sense, there is a deep chasm between both Europe and the United States (which use prosperity as a justification for loyalty) and Russia (for whom loyalty derives from the power of the state and the inherent definition of being Russian). Russia must expand or die--it's as simple as that. And both parties know this to be true. Therefore, unless some type of peace treaty can be negotiated between all concerned parties, military conflict between the USA/NATO and Russia is inevitable. Have a nice day.

The top 10 countries with the most Orthodox Christians are, by number: Russia, Ethiopia, Ukraine, Romania, Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria, Belarus, Egypt and Georgia. Of these, only two have a fertility rate above 2.1 children per couple--Ethiopia (4.05) and Egypt (3.24). The rest fail to meet the 2.1 children per couple necessary to provide a young enough demographic to ensure population replacement. Bulgaria's fertility rate is only 1.56, although it has improved slightly over the past 20 years, up from 1.2 in the year 2000. Guess you need to import some Christians from Africa. Cheers.

FYI, Andrew, we've ALREADY had a "soft" civil war in the form of regional factionalism becoming a reality in most parts of the USA. Take California (please!). The so-called Golden State (although now the glitter has worn off) has basically devolved into a one-party socialist dictatorship, along with its left coast brethren, Oregon and Washington. California sees itself as its own nation-state, and acts accordingly. Meanwhile, in the mountain/west states such as Idaho, Montana, Wyoming (and to a lesser extent, the Dakotas), the populace by and large has rejected the so-called progressivism that Washington, DC is now trying to force upon the country, and has embraced the rugged individualism/populism that characterized America 120 years ago. The federal government has little place or impact in their daily lives, and that's just the way they want it. The USA will probably drift apart and separate into a loose confederacy in a manner not dissimilar to the old USSR back in 1991. The federal government will become weaker and weaker, unable to impose its will by force on regions other than the liberal east coast corridor that extends from DC to Boston. So it seems, anyway.

“Nor do I feel responsible for the generally low state of the Negro—as one Negro friend pointed out to me; the lucky Negroes were the ones who were enslaved. Having traveled quite a bit in Africa, I know what she means. One thing is clear: Whether one speaks of technology or social institutions, “civilization” was invented by us, not by the Negroes. As races, as cultures, we are five thousand years, about, ahead of them. Except for the culture, both institutions and technology, that they got from us, they would still be in the stone age, along with its slavery, cannibalism, tyranny, and utter lack of the concept we call justice.” – Robert A. Heinlein, noted sci-fi author, humanist and libertarian

An electromagnetic field (EMF) is an area of moving electrical charges. Some EMFs, especially those involving ionizing radiation, can be harmful. For most people, exposure to EMFs occurs on a daily basis, as the fields are virtually everywhere. These fields can come from natural sources, such as thunderstorms, or they may be manufactured, as are radio waves, microwaves, and X-rays, for example. According to some "experts," EMFs from manufactured sources, such as microwaves, do not damage human health at the level of exposure that people experience on a day-to-day basis. However, there is no unanimity of opinion in this matter.
There are two types of EMF. One has the capacity to break chemical bonds (ionizing) and the other does not (non-ionizing). Fields of ionizing radiation have higher frequencies and shorter wavelengths. The energy from this type of radiation can remove electrons from atoms, including those comprising water and living tissue. This breaks chemical bonds. In the human body, high doses of ionizing radiation can prompt unstable atoms called free radicals to cause oxidative damage. Some more common sources of ionizing radiation are gamma rays, which can help treat cancer, and X-rays. Visible light exists toward the middle of the spectrum, marking the dividing line between ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.
High-band 5G uses frequencies of 24–47 GHz, near the bottom of the millimeter wave band, although higher frequencies may be used in the future. The spectrum ranging from 24.25 to 29.5 GHz has been the most licensed and deployed 5G mmWave spectrum range in the world. These high-band frequencies have the potential to adversely affect human health, according to some "experts." Health concerns aside, the introduction of 5G has created some cybersecurity risks, notes the U.S. Department of Homeland and Security. One fear is malicious software and hardware being introduced into the 5G supply chain. Plus, 5G uses more information than previous technologies, which leaves more room for error. Because of these concerns, the department has developed a set of strategic standards designed to mitigate risk. While concerns regarding hackers using 5G to steal data or too many people texting in-flight are valid, when it comes to potential effects on your health, the evidence goes both ways. The fact that 5G technology has been rolled out without sufficient studies on how it may impact human health is a major red flag.

Putin currently has about 300,000 active duty soldiers under arms (not counting the so-called "mobilisation"). Even if all those draftees were put into action, that would still only field 600,000 troops--not nearly enough to defeat and occupy a huge country such as Ukraine.
During WWII, Stalin had over 11 million men under arms, and yet, despite this huge numerical advantage, the Soviets were only barely able to defeat the Germans after 4 long years of brutal combat. Today's Russian army is but a faint shadow of its 1945 Soviet counterpart, and stands no chance against Ukraine. Unless, of course, Putin goes nuclear and wants to start WW III.

The Founding Fathers specifically designed that into the Constitution. It prevents the larger, more populous states from running roughshod over the states with fewer people. And it has worked well since 1783. BTW, Wyoming isn’t the only state with a small population: Vermont, 643,000; Alaska, 733,000; North Dakota, 779,000; South Dakota, 887,000; Delaware, 990,000 and Rhode Island, just over 1 million. The states with large populations make up for it in the House of Representatives. In that body, Wyoming only gets one Congressional rep, while California gets 53 and Florida gets 27. It all evens out. BTW three of those small states I listed are blue states, so shouldn't they receive the same senatorial representation as the red states?

"Gentrification"...a polite term for kicking poor black and brown people out of their homes through the use of "eminent domain," condemning the properties so that developers can buy them dirt cheap, and then building expensive condos so that only rich (white?) people can afford to purchase them. Cities, with court approval, regularly seize private property through the eminent domain process "for the public good." However, the courts have broadly interpreted that phrase to mean any use which results in the improvement/rehabilitation of local properties, including any public/private partnership. IOW, the government exercises its eminent domain powers ostensibly for public purposes, but then allows private developers to actually carry out plans for their own benefit. Don't believe me? There are several YouTube videos demonstrating this very thing. There are numerous dangers associated with inadequate constitutional protection for private property. First, public officials may misuse their power of taking private property for their own gain. Or, they may partner with the private sector and benefit indirectly through shared profits and/or monetary kickbacks. If the city/county wants your property, they can condemn it through eminent domain, and then allow a developer to build condos (or even a bowling alley) and still get away with saying it's for the public good. Think your own property is safe from government theft? Think again.

@MrJohnnyDistortion Quotation mark annotated, and, yes, he really did say that, according to a very young staffer, Bill Moyers, who provided a first person quote:
"We were in Tennessee. During the motorcade, he spotted some ugly racial epithets scrawled on signs. Late that night in the hotel, when the local dignitaries had finished the last bottles of bourbon and branch water and departed, he started talking about those signs. "I'll tell you what's at the bottom of it," he said. "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

Swiss Banking privacy and secrecy have been in force since as far back as banks can trace their origins, and officially codified as part of Swiss laws, with severe criminal penalties for any violations, since the Swiss Banking Law of 1934. This law was enacted as a direct result of French Socialist-fervor pressure, and German Nazi attempts at intrusion. The Swiss take their clients’ confidentiality quite seriously. Swiss bankers are under strict fiduciary obligation (much like U.S. “attorney-client privilege”) to maintain any information about a client’s account strictly confidential, with the only exceptions being strictly-provable criminal inquiries–and even these are quite rarely granted. This reflects the long-standing tradition of Swiss personal privacy, and any violation of banking secrecy constitutes an offense that by law requires public prosecution and results in official criminal proceedings. Needless to say, these are among the strictest banking confidentiality laws in the world.
Another item worthy of note is that an accusation of tax evasion alone is not sufficient to force a Swiss bank to lift its veil of secrecy. This is because failure to report income or assets is not considered a criminal offense in Switzerland, it is considered a misdemeanor, and hence does not fall under the “provable criminal activity” or criminal intent exceptions that would allow the veil to be lifted. As such, neither the Swiss government, nor any other government, can obtain information about a depositor’s account without first convincing a Swiss judge that a serious crime (felony) has been committed by the depositor that would be punishable by the Swiss Penal Code.
That being said, as a U.S. citizen trying to open a bank account in Switzerland, you may be met with some reluctance. if not outright disdain, by the Swiss banking authorities. Not that they dislike you personally because you're an American, but rather they might view you as not worth the extra trouble because of the predatory rules and practices of the U.S. Treasury Department that follow all Americans regardless of where they park their money. IRS regulations keep on getting more draconian year by year, and, unless you're among the super-rich, the Swiss bankers might consider you as simply not worth the headache vis-a-vis the extra paperwork and compliance rules that accompany you as a U.S. citizen. Sad, but true.

Latin: "qui tacet consentire videtur" , "he who is silent is taken to agree", or "silence implies/means consent." Of course, silence didn't help Sir Thomas More, Chancellor of England, when he was put on trial for high treason, for not consenting publicly to the legality of King Henry VIII's desire to put away his queen and marry his mistress, Anne Boleyn. Sir Thomas More correctly asserted that the maxim is “Qui tacet consentiret”: the maxim of the law is “Silence gives consent.” That is, if the court were to construe anything by More's silence, it must construe that he consented to the king's actions, rather than denying them. Alas, poor Sir Thomas (the jury having deliberated for a mere 15 minutes), was still found guilty of high treason, condemned and beheaded on 6 July 1535 just north of the Tower of London. The moral of the story is what you don't say can be just as incriminating as what you do say.

Arrived in California late 1968, while still on active duty with the military. Thought I had found the Promised Land, and, in many ways, it was. Plenty of things to see and do, wonderful climate, and friendly people. Shortly thereafter I got married, became a civilian again, and settled down in the Central Valley. Cost of living was dirt cheap, and our first home was under $20k ($100/month house payments!). The 1970’s were (mostly) great, even into the 80’s things were fine. But then everything seemingly went downhill by the mid 90’s. Crime, taxes, inflation, pollution got worse and worse until we said “enough.” Relocated to a different (mountain) state and never had any reason to regret our decision. Feel sorry for any middle class people that choose to remain on this sinking ship.

Mormonism (the LDS church) is a non-christian cult. Mormonism denies the doctrines that make Christianity what it is, and it substitutes their new and different doctrines that are not taught in the Bible. For example, the Bible says there’s only one God in all existence (Isaiah 43:10; 44:6; 45:5), but Mormonism says there are many gods, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 163). See also, “And they (the Gods) said: Let there be light: and there was light,” (Book of Abraham 4:3).Furthermore, Mormonism teaches that the Trinity is actually three separate gods (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage page 35) and that salvation is attained through obedience to the law and doing good works (Miracle of Forgiveness, Spencer W Kimball, page 206). In fact, in their book Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, page 188, it says there is no salvation without accepting Joseph Smith, Jr. as a prophet of God. Joseph Smith, of course, was the founder of Mormonism. Mormonism, also called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), teaches the following non-Christian, non-biblical doctrines. (Note that all the documentation is taken from Mormon writers and Mormon scriptures):
—God used to be a man on another planet, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 321; Joseph Smith, Times and Seasons, vol. 5, p. 613-614; Orson Pratt, Journal of Discourses, vol. 2, p. 345; Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p. 333).
—God resides near a star called Kolob, (Pearl of Great Price, p. 34-35; Mormon Doctrine, p. 428).
—“The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s…” (Doctrines and Covenants 130:22). (NOTE: Jesus himself said, “God is spirit, and they that worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”) John 4:24
—God is in the form of a man, (Joseph Smith, Journal of Discourses, vol. 6, p. 3).
—“God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens!!! . . . We have imagined that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea and take away the veil, so that you may see,” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 345). (NOTE: The Bible clearly states, “God is NOT a man…) Numbers 23:19
—After you become a good Mormon, you have the potential of becoming a god, (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 345-347, 354). There is a mother goddess, (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 443). God is married to his goddess wife and has spirit children, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 516).
—The Trinity is actually three separate Gods: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. “That these three are separate individuals, physically distinct from each other, is demonstrated by the accepted records of divine dealings with man,” (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 35).
—“One of the most fallacious doctrines originated by Satan and propounded by man is that man is saved alone by the grace of God; that belief in Jesus Christ alone is all that is needed for salvation,” (Miracle of Forgiveness, Spencer W. Kimball, p. 206).
—Good works are necessary for salvation (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 92).
—“We know that it is by grace that we are saved, AFTER all we can do,” (2 Nephi 25:23).
I could go on and on, but that would be superfluous. All of the above shows that Mormonism is not compatible with Biblical Christianity, but rather is a non-Christian cult.

Clownifornia: highest personal, corporate, fuel and sales taxes in the USA. Plus, an historic $97.5 billion budget SURPLUS for FY 2022-2023. And yet the state seems unable to figure out how to operate a reliable power grid. Oh, wait! They decommissioned the San Onofre and Rancho Seco nuclear power plants which (combined) produced over 3700 MWe of much needed power. And they WERE in the process of decommissioning the Diablo Canyon plant (2256 MWe) for 2024/2025. But, OOPS, the California Energy Commission and CAISO warned in 2021 that the state may have summer blackouts in future years as a result of Diablo's closure coinciding with the shutdown of four natural gas plants of 3.7GW total capacity, and the inability to rely on imported electricity during West-wide heat waves due to reduced hydroelectric capacity (from the decades-long drought) and the closure of coal plants. A 2021 report from researchers at MIT and Stanford states that keeping Diablo Canyon running until 2035 would REDUCE the state's carbon emissions from electricity generation by 11% every year, save the state a cumulative $2.6 billion (rising to $21 billion if kept open until 2045), and improve the reliability of the grid. But, hey, who needs electricity anyway, right? We can all just sit in the dark and munch on our hummus and celery stalks while pendejos like Gavin Nuisance and others just stand around and dither. Sometimes people get the politicians they deserve.

“About this time there lived Jesus, a wise man, if indeed one ought to call him a man. For he was one who performed surprising deeds and was a teacher of such people as accept the truth gladly. He won over many Jews and many of the Greeks. He was the Messiah. And when, upon the accusation of the principal men among us, Pilate had condemned him to a cross, those who had first come to love him did not cease. He appeared to them spending a third day restored to life, for the prophets of God had foretold these things and a thousand other marvels about him. And the tribe of the Christians, so called after him, has still to this day not disappeared.” – Josephus, Jewish Antiquities, 18.3.3 §63 (written 93-94 CE)

I spent 18 months in Fairbanks, Alaska while serving in the military. The winter climate there was as close to being on another planet as you could get without ever leaving Earth. Going outside in the dead of winter, when overnight temperatures got as low as -60 F (-51 C) required all of your protective gear to be worn. Even dressed to the max, walking was slow and painful, as your joints became stiff. Normal breathing was painful because of the extreme low humidity and temperature. About the only thing you didn't need compared to Mars was an oxygen helmet!
And now people are engaging in this collective fantasy that they can somehow reach and colonize Mars, a place that makes Alaska look like Miami Beach by comparison. Even if someday people could reach Mars safely (doubtful), there's simply no way to build a growing, self-sustaining colony on that planet. And this pales into insignificance when one considers the folly of trying to journey to another solar system to colonize an "Earth-like" exoplanet, if one can be found. The sheer time and distance of such an attempt is simply beyond present human capability. And achieving FTL travel, such as we see in Star Trek/Star Wars, is not even on the remote horizon. Face it, people, we are stuck here on good, old planet Earth. And that sobering fact should motivate all of us to redouble our efforts to make our forever home as livable as possible.
(Note: it may be possible, at great effort and expense, to establish some type of mining operation on the Moon, for the purpose of extracting rare/valuable minerals, but such would be done on a rotational basis for the crew, as the moon's gravity is only 16% of the Earth's, plus time on the lunar surface must be carefully limited due to exposure to solar/cosmic radiation, so living quarters must be underground.)

@Jay...777 The deliberations of the Constitutional Convention of 1787 were held in strict secrecy. Consequently, anxious citizens gathered outside Independence Hall when the proceedings ended in order to learn what had been produced behind closed doors. The answer was provided immediately. One Mrs. Powell of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin, “Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?” With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, “A republic, if you can keep it.” Well, we didn't, alas.
3
-
@Jay...777 Such a scenario as you describe could only be possible with the support and consent of both house of Congress, as well as the Executive branch of government. Being that the oligarchy controls all branches of government, it is doubtful that such a thing would be allowed to pass into law. FYI, the ancient Hebrews had what was called the “Year of Jubilee,” whereby every 50 years all debts were cancelled, all slaves and/or indentured servants were set free and allowed to return to their families, and all properties had to be ceded back to their original owners. God commanded this of the Hebrews, and their failure to do so was one of the reasons they went into captivity. Our whole system is one of legalized indebtedness, which, short of worldwide calamity, will never be allowed to be extinguished. Cheers.

Depends on your current location in the USA. For example, comparing the cost of living between a larger city such as Denver, CO to that of Salzburg, Austria, you would need around $6,147 in Denver, CO to maintain the same standard of life that you can have with $4,260 (4,000.00€) in Salzburg (assuming you rent in both cities). Denver would be cheaper in the cost of gasoline/petrol, as well as monthly utilities (electricity, heating, cooling, water, garbage), but the rental cost in Salzburg would probably be 50% less than Denver. It all depends on the life style you wish to pursue. Quality of life (personal safety, health care, pollution index, climate) would be higher in Salzburg than Denver. The only drawback in Salzburg would be the higher cost of actually purchasing a house or condo, which might be double the cost of Denver, CO. Hope this reply would be of some value in your decision. Cheers.

Individuals, be it tax residents (who spend 183 days per year in Antigua) or non-resident citizens, are exempt from any type of tax on their income no matter how much money they make. The inland revenue department and the government of Antigua and Barbuda do not impose any capital gains tax, wealth tax, inheritance, or withholding tax on individuals.
A person maintaining residency in Antigua and Barbuda is, of course, subject to some other indirect taxes. Antigua & Barbuda sales tax (ABST) on goods and services, for example, is an indirect tax that a business must pay which affects individuals. ABST has a flat rate of 15%, and as most goods and services are taxable under ABST, individuals will see that tax mirrored in the pricing of the supplies or services they are buying. Antiguan resident citizens do not have to register or pay any taxes on interest, dividends, royalties, or fees for registered technical services.

Do the math. The observed speed of light is approximately 671 million miles per hour, which means that it takes 1 photon of light approximately 8.3 minutes to travel from the sun to the earth. Reducing the fractional relationship of 8.3 minutes to 1 hour (60 minutes) we obtain a decimal result of 0.138333 (approx). Multiplying 671 million x 0.138333 give us a product of 92,821,443 miles, which just so happens to be the distance from the sun to the earth. Therefore, the sun is much farther away from the earth than the 2-3 thousand miles the "flatties" postulate. It also means that the sun is much larger than the 32 mile figure claimed by these people. BTW, the earth's orbit around the sun is not a perfect circle, but an ellipse, so the exact distance varies with the time of year. What next? Will the flatties try to alter the speed of light to suit their theories? Sorry, flatties, but the math will get you every time.

@souqsayara7644 Have you ever actually lived in the USA? If not, then you're talking out of school. Having lived here my entire life, I feel that I've been treated quite well, both by my state government, as well as by the federal government. My taxes at all levels are quite low and I've always been able to afford a reasonably priced home in which to live and raise a family. Is the USA perfect? Far from it, but what place is? There is a reason why that, in 2020 alone, the United States granted 707,362 people lawful permanent resident status (not counting the large number of illegals from Mexico, etc.) And that reason includes: economic opportunity, security, freedom of conscience/religion, and the rule of law. If the USA isn't your cup of tea, then by all means find a country that meets your requirements. Cheers and long life, my friend.

@howardjuliewiley5629 As if housing prices in CA, OR or WA are affordable? New arrivals over the past 10 years show an equal mix of both liberals and conservatives, according to the Chamber of Commerce. So, yes, any time a state has reasonably affordable housing, people will be drawn to it. Same thing has happened to Austin, TX, over the past 20 years. My brother moved there in the mid-90's for an employment offer, and purchased a nice, 2-story home for around $250k. Now that same home would sell for ~ $1.25 million, a nearly five fold increase. And who is responsible for all that? Techies moving in from the Bay area of CA, mostly liberal-voting Democrats. So you see, holmes, it cuts both ways. Cheers.

@Nikosi9 "The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God.'" (Psalm 14:1) So, I guess that you have two options, friend. Either you humble yourself before the Almighty and acknowledge him for who he is. Or, you take your place with the rest of those foolish people that deny Him. The choice is yours. God isn't going to drag anyone kicking and screaming into his kingdom. It's not that people CAN'T believe in God--it's that they WON'T believe. Or to quote renowned British biologist, scholar and humanist, Sir Julian Huxley, "I suppose the reason we (atheists) leaped at (Darwin's) The Origin of Species was because the idea of God interfered with our sexual mores." Well, I can't agree with his decision, but I have to at least acknowledge his honesty and candor.
As a former agnostic myself, the reason I resisted coming to faith in God wasn't for some "intellectual" or esoteric reasons about his existence and reality. It was, as is probably the case with most so-called "atheists," that I rebelled at the idea of my having to be accountable to any higher power or authority, from whom there is no appeal or escape. Why, how dare God judge ME, of all people! The idea of me seeking for God was akin to the idea of a mouse searching for a cat. I wanted no part of a holy and righteous Creator.
But then the grace (unmerited favor) of God sought me out and revealed my abject condition and demonstrated his love toward this wretched man, in that while I was yet a sinner, Christ died for ME. But, one may ask, how does one actually believe? Romans 10:9-10 has the answer: "...that if you shall confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and shall believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved, for with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." BTW, I checked just this morning, and, yep, God is still there. Cheers.

Hope those "big changes" don't include relocating to Florida or Texas. No state income tax in either place, but, booooy do they hammer you on sales, property and other taxes. I have a family member that lives in Austin, TX and he's paying around $600/month on property taxes, around $400/month for utilities, plus his location is subject to an 8.25% sales tax. Florida isn't quite as bad with sales tax (7%), but south Florida has some of the highest priced real estate in the country, with property taxes to match. If you can tolerate some colder weather, I'd recommend (ID, MT, or WY). Smaller, less intrusive state govts, modest taxes and far less crowded. Cheers.

While Mormonism may use traditional Christian terminology in their statement(s) of faith, their actual doctrine is totally NON-Christian. Examples: Mormons believe that the Supreme Deity is not one being but THREE separate beings (Elohim, Jehovah, and Holy Ghost); that God Himself was once a man like we are, but that through faithful obedience to Mormonism (which BTW hadn't been invented yet) became exalted into godhood; that the Heavenly Father has a wife with whom he produces spirit children in heaven to be sent to earth to be born into human families; that faithful Mormon males get to marry multiple wives (in addition to their earthly wife) in heaven to further produce more spirit children; that God/Elohim currently lives as an exalted man with his throne located on a planet named “Kolob” (wherever that may be). Almost reminiscent of George Lucas' famous intro, "...a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away." I could go on and on, but I think that you get the message. Mormonism is NOT a part of Biblical Christianity; in fact, many years ago the Mormons even refused to call themselves Christians, but started doing so in order to attract new (gullible) converts. And Mormonism has NEVER been acknowledged or accepted into the sphere of traditional Christianity by any religious council. Mormonism was invented in 1826 by a treasure-hunting farm boy named Joseph Smith, Jr., who patterned his new "religion" after the cult of Free Masonry, of which he was a member. Smith also engaged in occult practices, such as divining rods, magic circles, sacrifice of animals, and witchcraft. Please check out these things for yourself--don't just take my word for it.

Wrong, wrong, oh, so VERY wrong. The first Klan was founded in Pulaski, Tennessee, on December 24, 1865, by six former Confederate cavalry officers: Frank McCord, Richard Reed, John Lester, John Kennedy, J. Calvin Jones, and James Crowe. Col. Nathan Bedford Forrest was NOT a founding member of this version of the KKK, as many suppose, but he did join and become an early member sometime in late 1866 or early 1867. Organized in numerous independent chapters across the Southern United States, the first Klan was suppressed by federal law enforcement officers around 1871.
In 1915, the second Klan was founded atop Stone Mountain, Georgia, by William Joseph Simmons. While Simmons relied on documents from the original Klan and memories of some surviving elders, the revived Klan was based significantly on the wildly popular 1915 film "The Birth of a Nation." From September 1923 there were two Ku Klux Klan organizations: the one founded by Simmons and led by Hiram Wesley Evans, with its strength primarily in the southern United States, and a breakaway group led by Grand Dragon D. C. Stephenson based in Evansville, Indiana with its membership primarily in the mid-western United States. Both groups finally faded away in the 1940's.
The third Klan was started by numerous independent local groups opposing the civil rights movement and desegregation, especially in the 1950's and 1960's. During this period, they often forged alliances with Southern police departments, as in Birmingham, Alabama; or with governors' offices, as with George Wallace of Alabama. Several members of Klan groups were convicted of murder in the deaths of civil rights workers in Mississippi in 1964, and of children in the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham in 1963.
The existence of modern Klan groups has been (fortunately) in a state of consistent decline, due to a variety of factors: from the American public's negative distaste of the group's image, platform and history, infiltration and prosecution by law enforcement, civil lawsuit forfeitures, and the radical right-wing's perception of the Klan as outdated and unfashionable. Estimates of total nationwide membership range from 3,000 to 8,000. The sooner it drops to "0" the better for all of us.

Interestingly, the use of disinformation as a tactical weapon started in 1923 in the Soviet Union, when it became a tactic used in Soviet political warfare called "active measures." The deputy chairman of the KGB-precursor State Political Directorate (GPU), Józef Unszlicht, called for the foundation of "a special disinformation office to conduct active intelligence operations". Active measures is a term used to describe political warfare conducted by the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation. The term, which, as stated above, dates back to the 1920's, includes operations such as espionage, propaganda, sabotage and assassination, based on foreign policy objectives of the Soviet and Russian governments. Hmm....sounds vaguely familiar somehow, eh? Has the U.S. government copied the same tactics from its old rival, the USSR? Nah, couldn't be.

Sorry, my dear, but you’re missed the boat on this one. The Founding Fathers specifically framed the Constitution to ensure that the newly freed colonies became a Constitutional Republic, NOT a so-called “democracy.” In fact the U.S. Constitution, Article IV, Section 4, reads: “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government…” The word “republican” does not refer to any political party (as there were none at that time), but to the form of government.
“The republican is the only form of government which is not eternally at open or secret war with the rights of mankind.”—Thomas Jefferson, Letter to William Hunter, 1790.
“Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide. It is in vain to say that democracy is less vain, less proud, less selfish, less ambitious, or less avaricious than aristocracy or monarchy.” —John Adams, in an 1814 letter to John Taylor.
Benjamin Franklin's response to Elizabeth Willing Powel's question: "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?" Mr. Franklin answered without hesitation, “A republic, if you can keep it. (September 17, 1787)

It depends on how one defines the word "safety."

In case you're unaware, the nation of Georgia (not the U.S. state of the same name) shares a rather long, tenuous and disputed border with its northern neighbor, Russia. Russia's military support and subsequent recognition of the breakaway provinces of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in 2008 continue to sour relations with Georgia. In fact, there are still Russian troops stationed in both of these areas. If Putin didn't hesitate to invade the Ukraine, a huge nation the size of Texas with nearly 44 million people, what makes you think that he wouldn't do the same with a tiny nation like Georgia, with less than 5 million people?
I'd consider an area farther removed from the Caucasus, Portugal, for example. Or even better, Mexico. Cheers.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American ... There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag ... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language ... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people." - Theodore Roosevelt, in a 1907 speech in the Astor Court Building.

The federal Firearm Owners’ Protection Act, or FOPA, allows you to legally transport your firearms in your vehicle while you drive, so long as you comply with a short list of requirements found in what is known as the “Safe Passage” provision, or 18 U.S.C. § 926A. There are three conditions you must meet when crossing state Lines with your personal firearms: (if you are active duty military, other rules may apply)
1) The first condition is that any firearms or guns you are transporting must be unloaded and locked in the trunk of the vehicle or in another container that is out of reach or not immediately accessible. Any ammunition must also be locked in the trunk or another container. This does not include the glove box or center console.
2) Second, your journey must begin and end in states where your possession of firearms is legal. So, for example, if you begin your journey in your home state of Texas and are looking to drive to Grandma’s house in Kansas, where permit-less concealed carry is legal, you will be protected as long as you meet the other two conditions. However, if you begin your journey in Texas and are driving to New Jersey for vacation, where a state-issued license is required to even own a firearm, you will not be protected under the Safe Passage provision.
3) Lastly, you must be “traveling.” This applies especially while going through a state that is not firearm-friendly. Unfortunately, the term “traveling” is not defined in federal law. Courts have interpreted it narrowly to indicate that a person must not stop in one place for “too long.” Unfortunately, how long is “too long” is not entirely clear. In an actual case decided in 2013, a man was convicted for illegal possession of his shotguns and rifles secured in zippered cases after he stopped for a brief nap in New Jersey while moving from Maine to Texas. (P.S.: NJ sucks!)

If hell isn't real, then there is no final judgement upon the greatest villains of all time: Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, Stalin, Mussolini, Attila the Hun, etc. It means that they ALL got away with their crimes, and will face no divine tribunal or retribution. The very notion of justice DEMANDS that there be such a judgement. People deny God, not because there is something illogical about the existence of a Supreme Being, but because they don't WANT there to be a God. Or, to quote noted British biologist, humanist and atheist Sir Julian Huxley: "I suppose the reason we (atheists) leaped at (Darwin's) The Origin of Species was because the idea of God interfered with our sexual mores." They find the idea of having to give an account for their lives intolerable.

Sorry, Peter, but I must take issue with your methodology. Denver, CO averages 245 sunny days per year, while El Paso, TX averages 297 sunny days per year. Yes, I realize that Denver has the "advantage" when it comes to elevation (5279 vs. 3717), but El Paso also has a dry climate with good air quality. For that matter, Albuquerque, NM also has Denver beat when it comes to average sunny days (280) per year, as well as having a high elevation (4954) and dry climate. Cheers.

Having just rented this film on Blu-Ray, I must agree with the Drinker’s analysis—mostly brilliant. The sound, cinematography and visuals are just stunning, a triumph really. The casting too deserves accolades, with these reservations. The lead character, Paul, played by Timothee Chalamet, was rather weak and unconvincing. Yes, I’m aware that in the original Frank Herbert novel Paul was only 16 years of age, hence the need for a youthful-looking actor, but he really comes across as a 98-lb weakling that has to hide behind his mum’s skirt. And as for this “Zendaya” person, well don’t even get me started. I hope that in Part 2 they manage to give her character a less wooden appearance, instead of having her stare blankly with a puzzled look most of the time. Or maybe she just can’t act. I just find it hard to comprehend the other great casting choices (Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgaard), and then failing so miserably with the Paul and Chani characters.

@Zennsunni They? Who’s they? They speak English in “they”? And where are all the lies of which you speak? Read your history before talking out of school, holmes. Russia has had the same game plan for the past 300+ years. Only the names have changed: Peter the Great, Catherine the Great, Alexander I, Nicholas I, Nicholas II, Lenin, Stalin, Khrushchev, Brezhnev, Gorbachev, Yeltsin, Putin. Put on different faces, but keep the same game plan, which is Russian expansionism. Russia is now, has been, and will continue to be an aggressive, imperialist, expansionist nation.

Ancient alchemists practiced (unsuccessfully) the occult art of transmutation, i.e., attempting to convert or transmute base metals, such as lead, into noble metals like gold or silver. The technical term for this practice is chrysopoeia (from Greek χρυσοποιία, khrusopoiia, "gold-making"). These attempts went on from Zosimus of Panopolis (c. 300 A.D.) to distinguished chemist Robert Boyle (1627–1691). Hopefully, modern scientists won’t take as long to recognize the futility of these “fusion” experiments. I hate to impugn anyone’s motives, but the question arises as to whether or not they keep making these “breakthrough” pronouncements as a stratagem to ensure the continued flow of funding.
I’m no scientist, but it’s my understanding that nuclear fusion in our sun requires a temperature of at least 100 million degrees Celsius in order to allow the ions to overcome the Coulomb barrier and fuse together. In a solar fusion reaction, two light nuclei merge to form a single heavier nucleus. The process releases energy because the total mass of the resulting single nucleus is less than the mass of the two original nuclei. The leftover mass becomes energy. This process takes place in the core of the Sun as hydrogen is being converted into helium, where enormous gravitational forces, intense pressure and heat fuse hydrogen atoms together, generating helium and energy. So unless earth’s scientists find a way of duplicating said conditions in the sun, PRACTICAL nuclear fusion here on earth remains an ephemeral dream. Or, as The Doctor in Star Trek:Voyager once observed, “Divine intervention is highly unlikely.” Cheers and look on the sunny side of life.

This is the most biased, ill-conceived video on the Ukraine situation I’ve heard recently. The NATO/USA warhawks under the Clinton, GWB, Obama and Biden administrations have been baiting the Russians for over a quarter of a century, even while Yeltsin was President (remember Bosnia/Serbia/Kosovo?) In fact, former Secretary of State James Baker had given assurances to the Soviets (during talks for German reunification) that NATO would not be expanded eastward.
The record, from 1991, quotes a German official as telling British and American policymakers, "We had made it clear during the 2+4 negotiations that we would not extend NATO beyond the Elbe (a river in Germany). We could not therefore offer membership of NATO to Poland and the others." But Poland joined NATO in 1999, and eleven other countries were eventually added, bring the current total to 26.
The 2008 Bucharest NATO Summit was a significant turning point for European security. There, it was formally announced that Ukraine and Georgia would eventually become members of the alliance. Then, while in Europe during October 2021, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin reaffirmed that Ukraine and Georgia may still join NATO. The Russians made it clear that either country's entry into the alliance would cross a red line and Russia would be prepared to use all facets of power, including military intervention, to enforce that red line.
So who really is to blame for the current situation in Ukraine? I’m no admirer of either Russia or Vladimir Putin, but it’s clear that NATO’s continued expansion and provocative policies resulted in this catastrophe we now see. The tragedy is that it all could have been avoided, along with the needless loss of hundreds of thousands of lives.

The fact that their ancestors may have converted to rabbinic Judaism many centuries ago, does NOT make them Israelites. The only residents of Palestine that might be descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob would probably be the Sephardic, Mizraic and Yemenite Jews, all of whom are looked down upon and discriminated against by the Ashkenazim.
1
-
@nikoknightpuppetproduction369 The 90% figure is the world wide percentage, not merely the Israeli percentage. As stated above, the name Ashkenazi derives from the biblical figure of Ashkenaz, the first son of Gomer, son of Japheth, son of Noah, and a Japhetic patriarch in the Table of Nations (Genesis 10). The name of Gomer has often been linked to the Cimmerians. Modern day Ashkenazim, while practicing rabinnic Judaism, are NOT the physical descendants of the patriarchs Avram, Yitzhak and Yakov. And, as such, have no legitimate claim to the ownership of the biblical land of Palestine. Of the approximately 15 million Jews in the world, an estimated 7.7 million reside in the USA and Canada, an estimated 7.2 million reside in Israel/Palestine, with the remainder scattered throughout the New World, Europe, Africa and Australia. I'm not Jewish, but if I were, Israel is the LAST place that I would choose to live. I'd even pick Germany (!) over Palestine.
1
-
@nikoknightpuppetproduction369 "Make the claim" to what? To land that was never theirs to begin with? As for the supposed Biblical claim, Jewish Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss explains: “Zionism is only around 100 years old. It is the transformation from religion to nationalism, to materialism created by non-religious Jews who hated their religion. The reason why they use the name Israel, the Star of David, hijacking, stealing the identity of Judaism and the Jewish people is in order to gain a legitimacy for their existence that should lead people to say, ‘oh, it is God given to them’ and that they should use fear and intimidate people from speaking out against their actions because they will call those that do anti-Semitic; it couldn’t be anything further from the Truth.” Zionists used two major justifications for occupying Palestine: 1) The Biblical claim of Palestine belonging exclusively to the Jews; 2) The Persecution of the Jews in Europe. The true descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were commanded by G-d to remain in the (gentile) nations to which they had been scattered by divine decree. There will yet be a future regathering of dispersed Israel, not by military or political machinations, but by a sovereign act of HaShem. See Deut. 30:1-6, Isa. 41:8-9, Isa. 43:5-6, and especially Ezek. 28:25-26, which reads: "Thus says the Lord GOD: 'When I have gathered the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and am hallowed in them in the sight of the Gentiles, then they will dwell in their own land which I gave to My servant Jacob. And they will dwell safely there, build houses, and plant vineyards; yes, they will dwell securely, when I execute judgments on all those around them who despise them. Then they shall know that I am the LORD their God.'" I ask you now, is Israel currently dwelling securely in peace? Are they that all-righteous nation of which the scriptures speak? The answer to both of these questions is a resounding NO. In Isaiah 19:24 we read, "In that day Israel will be the third part with Egypt and Assyria (Iraq), a blessing in the midst of the earth." Tell me, has that happened yet? You be the judge. Baruch HaShem!

All hope abandon, ye that live in California. After having lived in the (not so) Golden State for nearly 40 years, we finally gave up on trying to adapt to the "progressively" worsening conditions. Which? Ever increasing taxes and bonded indebtedness by the left-wing (Democrat) state government; adding more benefits & services for illegals (oops, I mean undocumented immigrants). Governor Gavin (The Nuisance) Newsom is still stuck in the 1970's, knowing only how to increase taxes and the size of government. Although California has the highest corporate, personal, sales and gasoline taxes in the nation, infrastructure is crumbling. But at the same time, the legislature decided to fund the "high-speed rail" train to nowhere pork-barrel project, which ballooned from its original budget of $25 billion to nearly $70 billion, at last count. Air pollution, urban sprawl, homelessness and gang violence are all out of control. Plus, California is simply running out of water sufficient to support a population of nearly 40 million people. We said, "Enough!" and relocated to *******, and have never had any cause to regret our decision. Our adopted home has a much smaller, less intrusive state government, along with modest, reasonable taxes. And the violent crime rate is miniscule compared to CA. People here can still leave their cars unlocked at the local shopping mall--I don't, too many years of living in CA, I guess. Any middle class people that still persist in staying in California deserve what's coming to them.

“The Jews, I find, are very, very selfish. They care not how many Estonians, Latvians, Finns, Poles, Yugoslavs or Greeks get murdered or mistreated as D[isplaced] P[ersons] as long as the Jews get special treatment. Oh, you mean "the 1%" that controls over 1/3 of the wealth in the U.S.? "The 1%" that controls BOTH major political parties, and also controls ALL of the legacy media outlets and newspapers? "The 1%" that opposes affordable, universal healthcare for ALL Americans? "The 1%" that conspires with big business and big government to keep the Federal minimum wage artificially suppressed at $7.25/hr since July 24, 2009 (first year of Barack Obama's administration), when, adjusting for inflation, the minimum wage should be at least $15/hr? "The 1%" that decimated our manufacturing base with NAFTA and other job-killing legislation, and that allows illegals from 3rd world countries to freely enter America and further depress the local job market(s)? "The 1%" that promotes global DEpopulation through eugenics, fluoride, vaccines, GMO, war, drugs and arms proliferation? You mean THAT "1%"?

Well, the easiest “out” might be to simply head south. Specifically, (Idaho, Montana, Wyoming) take your pick. Depending on which Canadian province you currently reside in, the move might not be too difficult. All three places mentioned have low(er) taxes, small(er), less intrusive state governments, and relatively affordable cost of living. Plus, they’re close to the border, making visits to family more convenient. Common language (unless you speak French), similar culture(s), and mostly friendly, welcoming people. Yeah, you would have to put up with a dysfunctional federal (U.S.) government run by morons, but most of us don’t really interact with it, so we generally can ignore it (except for federal income taxes). C’mon down!

This entire scenario about the U.S. somehow breaking apart into differing geopolitical factions has its origins from Marxist philosophy, which has, as one of its stratagems, the goal of exploiting the internal contradictions of capitalists societies. Going all the way back to the 1950's, we can find a communist plot to exploit black people. See Manning Johnson's 1958 book, "Color, Communism and Common Sense" for a complete treatise on the subject. BLM, Antifa, Democracy Now, the Black Panthers, Democratic Socialism and other similar groups are simply modern iterations of older social movements. These plus the "woke" and "Green" nihilist philosophies all serve to accomplish the same goal: destroying the cohesive social fabric of the USA. If the Russian and Chinese can't defeat the U.S. militarily, then they seek to destroy us by other means. Only a united America can face down these enemies of freedom.

The Federal Reserve Act of 1913, which established the Federal Reserve System and authorizes it to issue Federal Reserve notes, states that “[Federal Reserve notes] shall be obligations of the United States and shall be receivable by all national and member banks and Federal reserve banks and for all taxes, customs, and other public dues. They shall be redeemed in lawful money on demand at the Treasury Department of the United States, in the city of Washington, District of Columbia, or at any Federal Reserve bank." However, the Act did not explicitly define what "lawful money" meant. Since some currencies that could be used by national banking associations as "lawful money reserves" were not considered legal tender, Congress amended the Federal Reserve Act in 1933 to include all U.S. coins and currency as legal tender for all purposes. The 1933 amendment extended the power of legal tender to all types of money, creating dissension on whether paper money and reserves of the Federal Reserve bank are lawful money. While some argue that Federal Reserve notes are lawful money, others tend to disagree.
Since the US Constitution states “no state shall make any thing but gold and silver coin a tender in payment of debts,” some believe that this is the definition of lawful money and, thus, any payment medium other than gold or silver is not considered lawful money. In effect, the primary meaning of lawful money is legal tender, but a broader interpretation is frequently applied in certain contexts. Because no legal definition of lawful money was ever provided, the term has led to a lot of confusion, primarily in legal aspects. For all intents and purposes, lawful money should mean legal tender but is not always the case. This has caused a lot of confusion for students of law and banking. As a practical matter, no such thing as "lawful money" exists in today's economy. All we have are bank deposits created out of thin air by the Fed and its member banks. Only keep as much money in the bank as you can afford to lose, because, surely, you will eventually lose it all, whether by hyperinflation, or by a collapse of the banking system. Qui aurum tenet, leges facit.

And the tribe of the Christians, so called after him, has still to this day not disappeared.” – Josephus, Jewish Antiquities, 18.3.3 §63
A Roman historian named Gaius Suetonius Tranquillas (A.D. 69 - A.D. 122), who was the chief secretary of Emperor Hadrian and who had access to the imperial records, mentions Jesus in a section he wrote concerning the reign of Emperor Claudius. He refers to Christ using the variant spelling of "Chrestus."
"Because the Jews at Rome caused continuous disturbances at the instigation of Chrestus, he (Claudius) expelled them from the city" (ibid., chapter entitled "Ancient Historians").
Cornelius Tacitus (AD 55-120) is often called the “greatest historian” of ancient Rome. He authored two large works — the Annals and the Histories. Much of what he wrote is now lost to us. Fortunately, there’s one remaining portion which is of interest to this discussion. The portion describes Nero blaming the Christians for the great fire of Rome (AD 64). It reports:
"Therefore, to stop the rumor (that he had started the conflagration), Nero substituted as culprits and punished in the utmost refinements of cruelty, a class of men, loathed for their vices, whom the crowd styled Christians. Christus, the founder of the name, had undergone the death penalty in the reign of Tiberius, by sentence of the procurator Pontius Pilatus, and the pernicious superstition was checked for a moment, only to break out once more, not merely in Judea, the home of the disease, but in the capital itself, where all things horrible or shameful in the world collect and find a vogue."
Pliny the Younger (A.D. 61 - A.D. 113), in Letters 10:96, recorded early Christian worship practices including the fact that Christians worshiped Jesus as (a) God and were very ethical, and he includes a reference to the love feast and Lord’s Supper.
The Babylonian Talmud (Sanhedrin 43a) confirms Jesus' crucifixion on the eve of Passover and the accusations against Christ of practicing sorcery and encouraging Jewish apostasy.
**NOTE: I purposely included references from NON-Christian sources only, sources that would have no vested interest in corroborating the person and life of Jesus of Nazareth. Whatever belief or non-belief people may have concerning Jesus, one option is NOT available to them, that is, to deny his very existence. Cheers.

@druidriley3163 "Any non-contemporary source" also includes you yourself. What makes your (supposed) assertions valid just because you expound them so vehemently? Many widely accepted ancient texts were authored by "non-contemporary sources." Does that, per se, make them invalid? I think not. Flavius Josephus was born in 37 A.D., and therefore had direct access to eye witnesses who actually coexisted with Jesus of Nazareth, both followers and enemies of Jesus. Josephus witnessed the destruction of Jerusalem and the burning of the Temple by the Roman general Titus Vespasian in 70 A.D., which would make him around 33 years old at the time of this event.
Suetonius never claimed that Jesus personally visited Rome--he obviously did not, as Jesus never stepped foot outside of Palestine (except for his being in Egypt as an infant). What Suetonius was referring to was the commotion and controversy between those Jews who were followers of Jesus and those Jews who opposed him. Due to the tumult caused between these two groups, the emperor Claudius commanded that all Jews leave Rome c. 49 A.D.
Tacitus being a non-contemporary is also irrelevant, as this citation only concerned the actions of Nero blaming Christians for the great fire at Rome in A.D. 64. He simply referred to the well-known fact that the founder of the Christian sect was a man named Jesus who was crucified by Pontius Pilate in Judea in c. 30-33 A.D.
As for the Jews and the Talmud, they are very careful to ensure historical accuracy when it comes to their sacred writings. They were the enemies of Jesus--therefore if they wished to discredit him, it would be far easier just to deny he ever lived, rather than to acknowledge him through their slanderous diatribes.
I could go on and on, but I think that your adamant refusal to acknowledge the mere fact that Jesus was a real person who lived in Palestine during the first 33 years of the first century betrays your agenda to deny the existence of Christ at all costs. Believe what you will about the person and life of Jesus of Nazareth--that's your prerogative. But to deny his very existence is not an option open to anyone. Cheers.

Germany has long had the most restriction-free and consumer-oriented healthcare system in Europe. Patients are allowed to seek almost any type of care they wish whenever they want it. The German system is a multi-payer healthcare system (NOTE: not a single-payer system like U.S. MediCare, or the NHS in the UK), paid for by a combination of statutory health insurance and private health insurance. As of 2009, health insurance is compulsory for the whole population in Germany, no exceptions. But German citizens are free to choose among a combination of public and/or private non-profit "sickness funds" at common rates for all members, and is paid for with joint employer-employee contributions. IOW, the employer and employee each pay 50% of the total premium(s).
This is a far cry from the monstrosity system that Bernie Sanders is advocated, which would have bankrupted the USA in short order. The Netherlands and Switzerland have systems very similar to the American Affordable Care Act (ACA), in that health insurance is mandated (and strictly enforced) to all citizens, but insurance is not provided by the government. Citizens are free to purchase insurance through whatever company they choose. Just like the ACA, insurance premiums are partially funded through subsidies provided by the government (through taxes) so that policies are truly affordable for everyone.
Then you have a system like Denmark's, which is your typical tax-funded state-run universal health care system. Denmark provides “free” health care to all residents, funded through taxes. But at what price? The Danish health care system is not cheap. According to OECD’s Health Data 2009, Denmark’s health cost per person, public and private, was $3,512. However, Denmark has some of the highest taxes in the world, and as such, the average Dane pays a total amount of 45 percent in income taxes. By contrast, for tax year 2021, the top marginal U.S. rate is 37% (on incomes over $612,000), and very few actually fall into that category. The married filing jointly couples in the U.S. pay a marginal rate of 22% on incomes between $81,050 - $172,750. Essentially, half of what the Danes pay. How many Americans would be willing to double their tax burden in order to mimic the Danish healthcare system? You tell me. Personally, I'd favor the German-style system, as it delivers the most for the least amount of money.

What is being discussed is the "intermediate state," that is, the human condition between physical death and physical resurrection. Please note that in the Hebrew scriptures, man is referred to as BEING a "living soul," - nephesh - (see Gen. 2:7), not as HAVING a living soul. In Hebrew, the word "ruach" can be translated as both "breath" or "spirit." Consider the following: "In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto DUST shalt thou return." (Gen. 3:19) "His (man's) breath (ruach) goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts PERISH." (Psa. 146:4) "For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten." (Eccl. 9:5) "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit (ruach) shall return unto God who gave it." (Eccl. 12:7) "These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus SLEEPETH; but I go, that I may awake him out of SLEEP." (John 11:11) "Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead." (John 11:14) So we see that our Lord Jesus described the condition of his deceased friend Lazarus as being "asleep." In the book of Daniel the prophet, it is written, "And many of them that SLEEP in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt." (Dan. 12:2) Our Lord Jesus further explained, "Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which ALL that are in the GRAVES shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of condemnation." (John 5:28-29) So, in summary, it appears that the condition of the dead is one as being "asleep in the graves."

Just because you were "born and raised" under falsehood, doesn't mean that the truth isn't out there. To wit, "Jesus saith unto him (Philip), I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6) And again, our Lord Jesus declares his unity with God the Father: "Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I say unto you I speak not from myself, but the Father abiding in me doeth his works." (John 14:10) I have personally known and spoken with many JW's, and have found them, for the most part, to be honest and sincere people who have unfortunately been exposed to false teaching most of their lives. As the Lord Jesus has said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:32) Cheers.

O, ye of little faith. Actually, the second law of thermodynamics states that the entropy (the measure of how dispersed and random the energy and mass of a system are distributed) of isolated systems left to spontaneous evolution cannot decrease, as they always arrive at a state of thermodynamic equilibrium where the entropy is highest at the given internal energy. The law also states that the changes in the entropy in the universe can never be negative, and that the state of entropy of the entire universe, as an isolated system, will always increase over time. This principle explains why you can't unscramble an egg and why processes that involve the transfer or conversion of heat energy are irreversible and always move towards more disorder. The second law can be expressed in terms of entropy, and if a reversible process occurs, there is no net change in entropy. And, yes, this concept, if followed to its logical conclusion, can be a bit depressing. However, there is hope in this truth: "For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered or come to mind." (Isaiah 65:17); as well as: "Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away..." (Revelation 21:1) We can be thankful that our loving Creator has left us with wonderful promise of His faithfulness, lest we become discouraged. Cheers!

There remains much misunderstanding regarding this topic. In the O.T., the word that is translated as "hell" is "sheol" (Heb., שְׁאוֹל shᵉʼôwl), which denotes the underworld, the grave, the pit, or simply the place of the dead. This word is used without any connotation as to the condition of the departed, whether they were righteous or evil. The N.T equivalent to sheol is the Greek word "hades" (ᾅδης háidēs). There is yet another N.T. word that is translated as "hell," but which has a far more solemn meaning. That is the Greek word "gehenna" (γέεννα géenna), which is derived from Hebrew origin and literally means "the valley of the son of Hinnom." This was originally the valley of Hinnom, south of Jerusalem, where the filth and dead animals of the city were cast out and burned, and which never was extinguished. This figuratively is used to describe the place of the future punishment called "Gehenna" or "Gehenna of fire," and is synonymous with the "Lake of Fire" described in Revelation 19:20, and 20:10-15. This is the place of everlasting judgement of which the Lord Jesus warned us in Luke 12:5, Matt. 23:33 and other N.T. verses.

I'll save Peter the trouble. As of 2020, the top 10 countries with the most Orthodox Christians are, by number: Russia, Ethiopia, Ukraine, Romania, Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria, Belarus, Egypt and Georgia. Of these, only two have a fertility rate above 2.1 children per couple--Ethiopia (4.05) and Egypt (3.24). The rest fail to meet the 2.1 children per couple necessary to provide a young enough demographic to ensure population replacement. Guess that they need to import some Christians from Africa. Cheers.

@peterkratoska4524 You cannot “electrify and decarbonize” simultaneously. The electricity has to come from somewhere, and right now it’s 38% natural gas, 22% coal, 19% nuclear, 20% renewables (hydro, wind, biomass, geothermal, solar), and < 1% petroleum. The government doesn’t want any more fracking (for nat gas) or nuclear, so tell me where all this additional generating capacity is coming from. Coal? Not hardly, too polluting. And the rest of renewables just won’t reliably make up the difference. Right now California is struggling to maintain its electrical grid with EVs making up only 4% of total vehicles registered. What happens when that number increases to 50%? Your ideas are unrealistic and implausible at best.

Paul Pelosi's attacker was found to be an illegal immigrant, has a rap sheet as a gay prostitute, as well as being a nudist and a Green Party member. DePape has been living illegally in the U.S. since age 14 (never naturalized). He also has been known to have lived in a yellow school bus parked in front of the Berkeley home of his ex, San Francisco pro-nudist activist Oxane "Gypsy" Taub (a female), with whom he shares three children. Taub is a Russian American activist in the San Francisco public nudity movement. In 2021, she was convicted of "stalking, dissuading a witness, and attempted child abduction". She is currently in prison for stalking and attempting to abduct a 14-year-old boy. I'd say that's a rather strange profile for a "MAGA" Trump supporter, anyway. FYI, David DePape was also accused of sexual abuse by his stepdaughter, Inti Gonzalez, in a Facebook post.

"The juice (of which is Sen. Bennet) could be put down very plausibly as the most unpleasant race ever heard of. As commonly encountered, they lack any of the qualities that mark the civilized man: courage, dignity, incorruptibility, ease, confidence. They have vanity without pride, voluptuousness without taste, and learning without wisdom. Their fortitude, such as it is, is wasted upon puerile objects, and their charity is mainly a form of display." - H.L. Mencken, 20th century American writer and social commentator.

As for the supposed Biblical claim (for zionism), Jewish Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss explains: “Zionism is only around 100 years old.
In Isaiah 19:24 we read, "In that day Israel will be the third part with Egypt and Assyria (Iraq), a blessing in the midst of the earth." Has that happened yet? The answer is obvious.

Just some trivia info: "Falling Down" grossed $96 million (nearly $210 million in today's dollars) against a $25 million budget. It took the top spot at the United States box office in its first two weeks of release (February 26–28 and March 5–7, 1993). "Falling Down" pushed the previous top movie, Groundhog Day (another classic, BTW), into the second place box-office spot for both those weeks. "Falling Down" grossed $40.9 million in the United States and Canada and $55.1 million internationally. That would be nearly $90 million and $120 million in today's dollars, respectively. Film critic Mick LaSalle of the San Francisco Chronicle opined, "A few times every year, Hollywood makes a mistake, violates formula, and actually makes a great picture. Falling Down is one of the great mistakes of 1993, a film too good and too original to win any Oscars, but one bound to be remembered in years to come as a true and ironic statement about life in our time." Well said.

Part of the reason is that so many celebrities have chosen to live in Wyoming, particularly in Jackson Hole, including Harrison Ford, Sandra Bullock, Kanye West, and Matthew McConaughey. The state's natural beauty and peaceful lifestyle attract these famous individuals seeking a break from the spotlight. Also, Wyoming’s tax structure is very lenient for the wealthy, compared to other states (like California). List of other wealthy people:
1. John Mars (Mars Candy): $30.8 billion
2. Forrest Mars Jr. (same): $23.4 billion
3. Lukas Walton (Walmart): $18 billion
4. Christy Walton (same): $7.8 billion
5. Hansjorg Wyss (a Swiss citizen): $6.5 billion (medical equipment)
and, lest we forget, Darth Vader himself, Dick Cheney (Haliburton): $100 million

The so-called “war on drugs” dates way back to June 1971, when President Richard Nixon declared a “war on drugs.” He dramatically increased the size and presence of federal drug control agencies, and pushed through measures such as mandatory sentencing and no-knock warrants. But what was this “war” REALLY about?
A top Nixon aide, John Ehrlichman, later admitted: “You want to know what this was really all about? The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I’m saying. We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or to be black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.” That's our wonderful government for you.

@howardjuliewiley5629 Ada County voter registration records show an almost even split between (R) and (D), with a large percentage of voters registered as independent/other. Southwest Idaho is where much of the population resides: Boise, 210,000; Meridian, 115,000; Nampa, 99,000. Smaller towns in northern Idaho, such as CDA or Post Falls, would indeed have a higher percentage of (R) voters, but so what? They really don’t factor in that much to statewide elections. I’ve visited both of those locations and, frankly, don’t see the attraction of living there. The climate is lousy, for one thing. Post Falls is rather dumpy, while CDA is nicer, but overpriced and overcrowded. The main focus currently is getting some property tax relief from the legislature and governor. Retired people (like me) are getting squeezed by the continually rising assessments. So much for “affordable” housing. Cheers.

@philmabarak5421 Property values, historically, increase/decrease as a function of the desirability (or lack thereof) of the particular location. Remember the old adage, "Location, location, location."? Here in Idaho at least, property values for SFH have soared in recent years due to the dramatic influx of out-of-staters, mostly from CA, OR and WA, although for some unknown reason, I've been noticing a lot of Texas license plates lately here in southwest Idaho. (**SFH = Single Family Homes)
More to the point, over the past 10 years there has been a 250% increase in population for Ada County, accompanied by a 260% increase in housing prices for SFH, almost a perfect direct positive correlation. As for the reason why people have been moving into this area, one can only speculate that they perceive it to be more livable and more affordable than their previous location(s). People appear to be fleeing from high COL, high taxes, high crime, and non-responsive state government(s). And this cuts across demographic issues and political ideologies. Ten years ago, someone from the Bay area or southern California could have sold their home for $750k and purchased a comparable one here in Ada county for around $150k, leaving them with $600k to invest, or put into the bank as savings, or to buy real estate for rental income (which many did). Hence, the dramatic increase in rental prices for this area. As near as I can determine, newcomers over the past 10 years from the states mentioned above are pretty much an equal mix of (D) and (R), and this is reflected in the current voter registration figures for Ada county, which show 50% (R), 46% (D), and the remaining 4% (myself included) as independent/other. Hope this clarifies some of the concerns you expressed. And remember, what goes up also comes down, especially real estate prices. Cheers.

The (same) 2016 directive centered around intelligence gathering, with no mention of lethal force. The 2024 update introduces a dramatic shift, particularly regarding domestic operations. Section 3.3.a.(2)(c) now explicitly permits lethal force in cases of imminent threats or national security emergencies, provided the action complies with legal oversight, specifically DoDD 5210.56, which governs the use of deadly force by DoD personnel.
Key updates include:
--Use of lethal force: The directive allows military intelligence components to assist law enforcement in operations that involve lethal force.
--Conditions for force: The directive specifies lethal force can be used under conditions involving "imminent threats." (as defined by them)
--Legal oversight: Any use of lethal force must comply with DoDD 5210.56, ensuring proper legal frameworks are followed.
No small coincidence that this directive was updated 27 Sept 2024, shortly AFTER Kamala Harris accepted the Democratic Party nomination on August 22, 2024. The fix is in folks, and the powers that be will NEVER allow Trump to become POTUS again, even if it means inciting another civil war.

@tank-slushy4727 The ONLY problem? Dude, did you actually understand my original post? If not, allow me to refresh your memory:
"The UAE/Dubai continue to commit serious human rights violations, including arbitrary detention, cruel and inhuman treatment of detainees, suppression of freedom of expression, and violation of the right to privacy. As a result, the UAE routinely ranks near the bottom of many international measures for human rights and press freedom."
The ONLY problem? You gotta be kidding.

“And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man BECAME a living soul.” (Gen. 2:7, ASV) Please note that three things are described in this passage: 1) God “formed” (or fashioned) man out of preexisting materials; 2) God breathed into him the “breath” (or spirit)—Heb., nᵉshâmâh—of life; 3) man became a living soul (or being)—Heb., nephesh. It does NOT state that man has a soul, especially an “immortal soul.” Whenever man dies—whether by old age, infirmity or accident—his physical body is unable to retain the breath of life, and so his existence ends. Or, as it says in Psalm 146:4, “His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.” Ecclesiastes 12:7 describes death thusly, “Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit (or breath, Heb., rûwach) will return to God who gave it.” The Holy Bible gives NO support for any type of post mortem immaterial existence, such as a disembodied spirit or “ghost.” If it did, then those “mediums” or necromancers that allegedly summon the spirits of the dead might actually have some basis on which to operate. But God absolutely forbids all such activities, because it isn’t the ghost of dear old departed Uncle Albert, but some lying spirit seeking to deceive gullible people. Maranatha.

Rivian stock peaked at $146 on the Nasdaq 11/13/21. Currently stands at $26 per share--heading for $0. Object lesson in buying an idea that will never be practical. You're far better of buying a Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5L V6 Hybrid 4WD, which can carry can carry up to 1,762 pounds, and has a rated towing capacity of 5,100 pounds. Plus, Ford isn't going to go out of business any time soon. The 2022 Rivian R1T model STARTS at $79,500, while you can get a base model F-150 for $46,350. If you need to go even cheaper, the 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid truck has a starting price of $19,995 (with a $1,495 destination fee), and the hybrid powertrain comes standard. The Maverick has an EPA rating of 42 mpg city, 33 mpg highway. So why, really, would any sane person buy a Rivian? (And, no, I'm not a Ford dealer or stockholder).

@Nikosi9 The word "atheist" is derived from the Greek term "a" (meaning without), and "theos" (meaning God). So, by definition, an "atheist" is one who is "without God," a perfect description of people such as yourself. BTW, you'll be without God, not only in this life, but also, unless you repent and believe, for all eternity. So you had better enjoy things in the here and now, because it's the best you'll ever have. "Mr.-Full-Of-Dumb Quotes" signing off, as it's apparent that nothing I have to say would be of interest to such an intellectual giant as yourself.

Sorry, Charlie, but money talks. And if you, like most of us, haven't a whole ton of money, then Andrew and others like him aren't interested in us "little people." Some free advice: move to a low-tax, low cost-of living state (MT, ID, WY). We did and we're quite happy with the results. Or, if you don't like colder winters, learn some Spanish and move to Mexico.

Marx, Trotsky, Kaganovich, Yagoda, Zinoviev, Uritsky, Kamenev, Sverdlov, Sokolnikov, and Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov (Lenin) had two things in common: All were early Bolsheviks and all were of Jewish ancestry. Since day one, Jews have been at the forefront of international socialism, communism and subversion. Prime example: Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. Henry Ford got it right: “The international Jew is the world’s foremost problem.” True words, both then and now.

Mars has a significantly weaker gravitational pull compared to Earth. The average gravitational acceleration on Mars is approximately 3.72076 m/s², which is about 38% of Earth's gravity, meaning a person who weighs 100 kg on Earth would weigh only about 38 kg on Mars. This means that, if Mars were actually colonized, those people born there would probably never be able to leave or visit Earth. Also Mars, unlike Earth, lacks a significant magnetic field, since heat preservation caused by the molten silicate layer may have rendered the Martian core unable to generate the convective motions necessary for magnetic field creation. The absence of a protective magnetic field had profound implications for Mars. Without this shield, the planet became susceptible to solar winds, as well as high energy cosmic rays. As a result, Mars eventually lost its surface water and, with it, any capability for sustaining life as we understand it. Any future colonists would be forced to spend their lives either underground or in elaborate surface structures designed to protect them from radiation.
Last of all, there is the problem of the massive storms on Mars, which in some cases could grow to global proportions. Martian dust storms are common, especially during southern hemisphere spring and summer, when the planet is closest to the Sun. As the atmosphere warms, winds generated by larger contrasts in surface temperature at different locations mobilize dust particles the size of individual talcum powder grains. Carbon dioxide frozen on the winter polar cap evaporates, thickening the atmosphere and increasing the surface pressure. This enhances the process by helping suspend the dust particles in the air. In some cases, the dust clouds reach up to 40 miles (60 kilometers) or more in elevation. This fine dust is extremely damaging, both to humans and sensitive electronic equipment. If Mars ever did have any intelligent life (doubtful), the inhabitants were probably forced to evacuate long ago as their planet's environment became increasingly hostile, Cheers.

"And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die, for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." (Genesis 3:4-5) The original promise (lie, really) of immortality was from Satan himself. Since then, mankind has been vainly trying to cheat death, rather than simply believing in our mortality. God ALONE has immortality (1 Tim. 6:16), but has graciously offered the free gift of eternal life to all those who would simply believe on His Son, Christ Jesus our Lord, "who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel." Amen.

Religion (Greek, θρησκεία, thrēskeía), in the sense of mankind's efforts to make oneself acceptable to any external deity (God) through self-effort or imposed rituals is WORTHLESS. Jesus Christ did NOT come into this world to establish a new "religion." There was a perfectly valid "religion" (a God-given religion, if you will) in existence at that time--Judaism. Unfortunately, by the time that Jesus appeared on the scene, Judaism had devolved into a law-bound system focused upon externalities and strict observances of minutiae, and had omitted the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faith.
This is why the self-righteous Pharisees were the objects of Christ's unsparing denunciation. The Pharisees presented an attractive external façade, but "inside were full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness." (Matt. 23:27b) Christianity is not a religion, but rather, as the Apostle Paul taught, "...Christ in you, the hope of glory." (Col. 1:27) And, "...that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith." (Eph. 3:17) Amen.

Peter, you have your terms transposed. Trump is delusional; Biden is demented. See both terms correctly defined below:
(And, no, neither man should occupy the Oval Office, IMO.)
Delusional (adjective): having false or unrealistic beliefs or opinions; maintaining fixed false beliefs even when confronted with facts. (That's Trump)
Demented (adjective): describing someone whose condition is characterized by progressive, persistent, severe impairment of intellectual capacity, including memory loss, confusion, and emotional instability, resulting from the loss of or damage to neurons in the brain. (That's Biden, definitely!)

Face the facts: wherever and whenever you have government(s) run by fallible, selfish human beings, you also have the potential, if not the likelihood, for tyranny. I prefer to take the attitude expressed by famous sci-fi writer, Robert A. Heinlein, in his 1966 novel, "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress":
"I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do. I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do."

First of all, the idea of Canada, en masse, becoming part of the U.S. is unrealistic. However, I could envision a scenario in which several Western provinces, fed up with the antics in Ottawa, might vote in a plebiscite to secede, and then sometime down the road join the U.S. as STATES (plural), with the current premiers becoming governors. They already have their own readily identifiable abbreviations (MB, SK, AB, BC), so becoming part of the Federal Union wouldn’t be such a stretch. But that’s for Canadians to decide, not the U.S. Cheers.

So-called "capitalism" and so-called "communism" are but two opposite sides of the same rotten coin, which is why each philosophy uses the other to define itself. In its present form, capitalism (as opposed to entrepreneurial free enterprise) promotes the consolidation of economic assets and power into the hands of a small, powerful, private oligarchy. Whereas communism promotes the consolidation of the aforementioned assets and power into the hands of an elitist State oligarchy, such as existed in the former USSR from 1917-1991. Do a search on the term "nomenklatura" for further proof. Same dance, different players, same end results. Do not suppose that the so-called "capitalist" giants of the 20th century were at all opposed to Soviet communism. Quite the contrary. Henry Ford, for example, had a very cordial (and profitable) relationship with Soviet dictator Josef Stalin. Monopolists, whether capitalist or communist, think alike and coexist with one another quite amiably.
Thomas Jefferson's view on the economy of the new United States was that the federal economy should be kept "rigorously frugal and simple." He envisioned the states being able to run their own economies with minimal interference from Washington policy makers, and he opposed the establishment of a central bank. A far cry from today's warfare/welfare system that is the modern USA. Gen. Robert E. Lee echoed Jefferson's sentiments many years later: “The consolidation of the States into one vast empire, sure to be aggressive abroad and despotic at home, will be the certain precursor of ruin which has overwhelmed all that preceded it.”

By the beginning of the 4th century A.D., the churches had either departed from, or had travestied, certain doctrines of the Christian faith. In order to increase the prestige of the apostate ecclesiastical system, pagans were received into the churches apart from regeneration by faith, and were permitted largely to retain their pagan signs, symbols and "holy days." So-called "christmas," based upon the celebration of the birth (25th December) of the Chaldean fertility god, Tammuz, is a prime example of the early apostasy of the Roman church. Christmas was, according to many authorities, NOT celebrated in the first centuries of the Christian Church, as the Christian usage in general was to celebrate the death of remarkable persons rather than their birth. A feast was established in the memory of the birth of the Savior in the Fourth Century. In the Fifth Century, the Western Church [Roman Catholic] ordered it to be celebrated forever on the day (Dec. 25th) of the old Roman Feast of Dies Natalis Solis Invicti (the “Birth of the Invincible Sun”). In 1644, the English Puritans forbade any merriment or religious services by act of Parliament on the grounds that Christmas was a heathen festival. They were so opposed to its observance that they even ordered a fast on December 25.

Rick, can’t believe you overlooked “Yellow River,” which was a 1970 international #1 hit song by the British group Christie. The song was written by the leader of the group, Jeff Christie, and was first offered to The Tremeloes, who recorded it with the intention of releasing it as a single early in 1970. However, considering it too pop-oriented for their future direction, they decided to go with another of their own compositions, and returned the song to Christie.
Producer Mike Smith therefore took the Tremeloes’ vocals off the recording and added Jeff Christie's. Released on 23 April 1970, it became an international hit, reaching number one on the UK Singles Chart for one week in June 1970. In the US, it only reached number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100. But it reached #1 in the UK, Ireland, Finland and Norway; also #2 in Germany. Years later, the Tremeloes admitted that was their biggest career mistake ever, as the song hit #1 in 26 countries that year, selling in excess of 20 million records, and netting 10 gold discs and many other accolades. “Got no time for explanations, got no time to lose, tomorrow night you'll find me sleepin' underneath the moon at Yellow River…”

She really didn't bother to say anything new. "American people disrespected...", hey, that's been going on since Richard Nixon's first term (and earlier, really). "I'm still a Democrat...", well isn't that just peachy. She didn't have the courage to admit that today's Democratic Party has finally morphed into Eugene Debs' final socialist fantasy, and that it's time to leave. But no, she appears merely to be paving the way for another future run for President (as a Democrat). BTW, how did that work out for her the first time in early 2020? Oh, right. While Tulsi may be a personally likeable and well-spoken individual, she adds nothing to the public discourse on how to make government work for the people, instead of the other way around.

Governor Gavin (The Nuisance) Newsom--Nancy Pelosi's great nephew through marriage--is back living in the 1970's, knowing only how to increase taxes and the size of government. They finally gave up and suspended the entire hair brained project. Air pollution, urban sprawl, homelessness, crime and gang violence are all out of control. We said, "Enough!" 10 years ago, and relocated to *********, and have never had any cause to regret our decision. Our adopted home has a much smaller, less intrusive state government, along with modest, reasonable taxes. And the violent crime rate is minuscule compared to CA. People here can still leave their cars unlocked at the local shopping mall--I don't, too many years of living in CA, I guess. Any middle class people that still persist in staying in California deserve what's coming to them.

As for the supposed Biblical claim (by Zionists), Jewish Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss explains: “Zionism is only around 100 years old.
In Isaiah 19:24 we read, "In that day Israel will be the third part with Egypt and Assyria (Iraq), a blessing in the midst of the earth." Has that happened yet? The answer is obvious.

@xrpfreak7881 BTC is no different than earlier asset bubbles, going all the way back to the “tulip mania” craze during the 1600’s, or the Florida real estate frenzy of the 1920’s. As far as BTC being the “best performing asset” of the past 10 years, so what? People can’t invest in the past, unless you somehow have access to a time machine. Regardless, 10 years is just a minuscule slice of market history.
BTC is merely a novel pyramid scheme, whereby greedy promoters try to artificially inflate otherwise worthless ideas, make a “profit” on paper, and then sell them to a greater fool before they collapse—as we’re witnessing now. A modern “Ponzi” scheme, if you will. An historically tried and true store of value—gold—cannot be created from thin air, like BTC or FRN’s. Gold has a 5,000 year track record of value, and will be around long after BTC has vanished back into cyberspace. My advice is only put into BTC what you can afford to lose, because you surely will lose it all. Wishing you health, long life and prosperity.

It is noteworthy that, with one exception, ALL of the cities shown at the 2:41 mark have Democratic mayors and Democratic majority city councils. The only exception being Honolulu, whose mayor is an independent and the city council positions are non-partisan. This is further proof, as Jimmy constantly emphasizes, that the Democrats will do NOTHING to help their constituents obtain affordable national healthcare. Why am I not calling out the Republicans? Because, unlike the Democrats, Republicans make no pretense of caring about giving Americans healthcare. They are pro-business, pro-Wall Street and pro-banking, and they make no bones about it. They're in your face with no apologies for their agenda. Therefore, the Democrats are even WORSE, as they assume a progressive stance, but stab their constituents in the back every time push comes to shove. "Woe to you, Democrats, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness."

“The (juice) could be put down very plausibly as the most unpleasant race ever heard of. As commonly encountered, they lack many of the qualities that mark the civilized man: courage, dignity, incorruptibility, ease, confidence. They have vanity without pride, voluptuousness without taste, and learning without wisdom.Their fortitude, such as it is, is wasted upon puerile objects, and their charity is mainly a form of display.” - H. L. Mencken, “Treatise on the Gods,” (1930)

Paul Pelosi's attacker, David DePape, was found to be an illegal immigrant, has a rap sheet as a gay prostitute, as well as being a nudist and a Green Party member. Perhaps, DePape and Mr. Pelosi were having a rather personal "get together" that got out of hand. Who knows.?

Oh, but Biden's economic team says that inflation is nothing to worry about. However, in determining the rise in the cost of living, the government conveniently omits the following items in its calculations: food, energy and transportation. So, I guess that if you don't eat, you don't heat/cool your home, and you don't drive, well, life is good, right?

@willbass2869 I guess that when some people run out of intelligent things to say, they resort to insults and obloquy. There is a veil over your mind, just as Paul said, “But if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, among whom the god of this age (Satan) has blinded the minds of those who do not believe so they would not see the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God.” (2Cor.4:3-4)
**Addendum: FYI, I don't take myself seriously, but I do take God and His word of truth VERY seriously--and so should you, friend. And I'm not embarrassed or ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes, to the Jew (chronologically) first, and also to the Gentile (later). As for my being "simple-minded," as you put it, I would rather be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil. FYI, Paul actually DID meet the risen Christ on the road to Damascus, to which city Paul was sent by the High Priest (at Jerusalem) in order to arrest and imprison those Jews who called upon the Name of Jesus. If you care to investigate further, the entire account is related in Acts 9:1-19. And, to correct your misstatement, it was Luke the physician, not Paul, who wrote most of the N.T. Luke wrote the Gospel of Luke (obviously), and also the book of Acts later on. So Luke's writings account for more than 50% of the N.T. scriptures in total volume. Like most scoffers and skeptics, you are grossly ignorant of the very things you criticize and deride. And I'm not "crazy," most excellent Will Bass, but speak the words of truth and reason. Cheers.

Having come of age during the 1950's & 60's, I can testify that today's America is so sharply divided along cultural, moral and political lines as to be virtually unrecognizable compared to that country which existed during the Eisenhower and Kennedy administrations. Back then, people, whether Democrats or Republicans, held to a set or shared values based upon the love of country, faith in God, hard work and devotion to family life. No longer. And it must be fairly stated that the cause of this fragmentation was begun by the rise of neo-liberalism and neo-conservatism in the political arena during the mid to late 1960's. People became polarized and have been at each other's throats ever since. I see no peaceful solution to this division, as each group sees itself as the sole repository of moral and cultural truth, while viewing the other as heretical traitors. The storm that began as "a little cloud like a man's hand" has now grown to hurricane proportions. My advice is, "you better run, you better take cover."

The best strategy vis a vis Russia is simple…just wait. Demographically, Russia is a shrinking, dying nation. Within 10 years, Russia won’t even have enough young men to properly equip its army. Yes, they’ll still have their nukes, but so what? Everyone, including the USA, is afraid to use them for fear of mutually assured destruction. In the 1980’s, the U.S. simply outspent the USSR to the point that the Soviet system collapsed into bankruptcy. Even if Putin does manage to “take Ukraine,” what will he have taken? Another bankrupt failed state, just like Belarus. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor.

One sign of cultish organizations is that virtually all of them claim to have an exclusive monopoly on truth—spiritual, theological, or moral truth. And this is true, not just with Mormonism, but also with JW’s, Christian Science, Seventh Day Adventism, Scientology, Church of Christ, Theosophy, etc. I myself spent the first 20+ years of my life in Roman Catholicism, which, while perhaps not a “cult” in the popular sense of the term, is still highly exclusive in its claim to be the one, true church that Christ established. Eventually, after several years of living as an agnostic and skeptic, I came to the realization that the “truth” is not in an organization or a religion, but in a person, Jesus Christ, God’s one and only Son. Believing in Christ truly set me free and made real the assurance that I was a child of God, apart from any meritorious works, by His free grace through faith in Christ Jesus. “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32) Grace and peace to you.

Polygamy was official LDS doctrine until 1890, when, as a condition of statehood, the LDS Church banned the practice. Utah was subsequently admitted to the Union in 1896, but polygamy, in the form of “plural spiritual marriages” remains accepted Mormon teaching to this very day. In other words, faithful Mormon males, upon exaltation to “godhood” will each rule over their own planets, procreating with multiple wives to produce spirit children for all eternity. I’m not making this up—just ask any Mormon elder or bishop whether this is so. Sounds like a good deal for the men, but for the women, not so much.

“For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews, WHO KILLED BOTH THE LORD JESUS, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men.” (1 Thess. 2:14-15) Who killed our Lord Jesus? THE JEWS, and Rav Shaul (the Apostle Paul), himself a Jew, confirms this.
The only reason that the “Roman occupiers” even got involved was because under Roman law the Jews had no authority to impose the death penalty on anyone, no matter what the accusation. That power the Romans reserved for their own purview. The Roman governor, Pontius Pilate, was inclined to release Jesus, for he knew that the Jewish religious leaders had “delivered him up out of envy.” (Mark 15:10) So stop blaming only the Romans; both Jews and Romans have culpability for the crucifixion and death of Jesus…“whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.” (Acts 2:24)

The term "conservatives" (in the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and Germany for that matter) has a VERY different reality than does the same word in the USA. In the former nations, it merely indicates political groups only slightly less left-of-center than Labour or Socialists. There's really very little "conservative" about them. In the USA, the meaning of conservatism is different from the way the word is used elsewhere. Following the American Revolution, Americans rejected the core ideals of European conservatism, which were based on landed nobility, hereditary monarchy, established churches, and powerful armies. American conservatism is a broad system of political beliefs in the United States, which is characterized by respect for American traditions, support for Judaeo-Christian values, economic liberalism, anti-communism, and a defense of Western culture. Liberty within the bounds of conformity to conservatism is a core value, with a particular emphasis on strengthening the free market, limiting the size and scope of government, and opposing high taxes as well as government or labor union encroachment on the entrepreneur.
The Tea Party movement, founded in 2009, proved a large outlet for populist American conservative ideas. Their stated goals included rigorous adherence to the US constitution, lower taxes, and opposition to a growing role for the federal government in health care. Electorally, it was considered a key force in Republicans reclaiming control of the US House of Representatives in 2010 mid-term elections. Long-term shifts in conservative thinking following the election of Donald Trump have been described as a "new fusionism" of traditional conservative ideology and populist themes. These have resulted in shifts towards greater support for national conservatism, protectionism, cultural conservatism, a more realistic, non-interventionist foreign policy, a repudiation of Neo-conservatism, reduced efforts to roll back entitlement programs, and a disdain for traditional checks and balances.

Nice that you care for your pet. However, squirrels are capable of hosting and transmitting (to humans) several serious, and potentially fatal, diseases: Salmonellosis, Lyme Disease, Tularemia, Leptospirosis, and (rarely) Rabies. People should understand that, while cute pets, squirrels are still wild rodents, and should be treated as such.

It must be kindly, yet firmly stated that G-d, in this present dispensation, is NOT offering anyone, Jew or goyim, a Messiah. Although the idea of a gentile messiah is especially ludicrous, since all the would-be gentile messiahs of time past had one thing in common: they were ALL uniformly evil men. What G-d is offering, and has been for the last two millennia, is a SAVIOR: “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a SAVIOR, who is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:11) “To Him all the prophets bear witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.” (Acts 10:43) Baruch HaShem!

The term "Palestine" (in Latin, Palæstina) comes via ancient Greek from a Semitic toponym for the general area dating back to the late second millennium BCE, a reflex of which is also to be found in the Biblical ethnonym “Philistines.” The term "Palestine" has been used to refer to the area at the southeast corner of the Mediterranean Sea beside Syria. In the 5th century BCE, in his work “The Histories,” Herodotus used the term to describe a district of Syria, called “Palaistinêin,” which Phoenicians interacted with other maritime peoples. Post World War I, the Balfour Declaration mandated that the British control Palestine, whey they did for almost three decades, overseeing a succession of protests, riots and revolts between the Jewish and Palestinian Arab communities.
There were Palestinian Jews and Palestinian Arabs, the Arabs comprising the vast majority of the area’s population. Ancient maps specifically showing “Palestine” have existed for centuries, going all the way back to the Ottoman Empire. The argument that the holy books of the three monotheistic religions do not mention the word “Palestine,” so therefore it never existed, is specious at best. It is an argument from silence (argumentum ex silentio), which is a fallacy of weak induction. So to say that Palestine has never existed in history is a false argument, both intellectually dishonest and historically inaccurate. Shalom.

In 1943 Simone Weil, a French philosopher and mystic, concluded that political parties had become organizations dedicated to one purpose: “killing in all souls the sense of truth and justice.” In the United States, the two major political parties have now divided the nation with the kind of violent partisan rhetoric that erupted just before the Civil War. Across Western Europe, political parties have turned parliaments into digital circuses, provoking waves of contempt among ordinary people.
When President George Washington took the oath of office in April of 1789, no political parties existed. Throughout the two terms of his presidency, Washington remained nonpartisan. President Washington expressed genuine concern in that “the alternate domination” of one political party over another, thereby allowing one party to enjoy temporary power over the government that would use it to obtain revenge on the other. He seriously felt that this tendency toward atrocities directed at the party out of power “…is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism.” Washington understood that if “a wise people” did not do their duty to discourage and restrain the over-zealous development of political parties, it would be the end of America. And so, it appears, that's what we are facing.

In my very NON-expert view, Russia will be on the warpath for the foreseeable future. It's not just that Putin simply doesn't want to stop his aggressive activity against his neighbours, but it's more that he CAN'T stop. For him, neutralizing any perceived threats (real or imagined) near the Russian borderland is a matter of national pride and ethnic (Russian) survival. For the past 20 years, he has been trying to recreate the boundaries of the old USSR and/or Russian Empire (really the same). Consequently, there can be no cessation of hostilities as long as this expansionist program guides Russian foreign policy, regardless of who is President of Russia. If you're thinking about relocating from the UK, I would advise looking elsewhere than central/eastern Europe. Canada, Australia, New Zealand or other Commonwealth nations might not be bad choices, as well as certain Caribbean nations. Don't overlook certain areas in Mexico as well--it's not all cartel-land. You'd be more than welcome here in the States, but I'm not sure that you would be doing yourself a favour. People here are too divided along political, cultural and regional lines. One big country--several nations--and little love lost. Cheers.

@citizenshipgateways Actually, the REAL issue is your turning a blind eye to a country and government that continues to commit serious human rights violations, including arbitrary detention, cruel and inhuman treatment of detainees, suppression of freedom of expression, and violation of the right to privacy. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) continued to deprive stateless individuals of the right to nationality, impacting their access to a range of services. If "property rights" are so important and you want to live in such a place--you're welcome to it. I'll gladly accept my so-called "diminished property rights" in a fairly free and open society. You have no idea of what a "tyrannical" government is until you go to a place such as N. Korea, Iran or Sudan. To try and compare Western democracies to such places is preposterous, so wake up and see the real world.

Unfortunately, right out of the box you misstate what the scriptures teach about Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus is called “the Christ (Messiah), the son of G-d, NEVER G-d the Son. The latter title is an unfortunate carryover from romanism and a departure from sound doctrine that occurred during the 4th century CE, when the so-called “trinity” doctrine was foisted upon Christianity. Jesus himself never claimed to be G-d or equal to G-d. (John 14:28b)
For those people too lazy to study the scriptures, I could point to John 20:31, John 14:28, John 17:3, Matt. 3:17, Luke 9:35, Acts 9:20, Gal. 4:6, etc. In both the O.T. And N.T., Jesus is referred to as the “Memra” or the “Logos,” or "The Word," in the sense of the creative or directive word or speech of G-d manifesting His power in the world of matter or mind.
The Apostle John was not a Greek nor was he a Sophist philosopher. He was a Hebrew, a follower of the true G-d, the miraculous G-d, and an apostle of the messiah, Yeshua. He understood the term “logos” to mean so much more than an impersonal term for logic and order in the universe. But translating into different languages can remove meaning from the original as the translator seeks to come up with terms as close to the original context of the work but that is also familiar with his readers as well. In Hebraic tradition, from the time of Abraham and onward, the term “Word” was understood as the mysterious manifestations of G-d that would come into the world in order to bring the Kingdom/reign of G-d. See 1 Cor. 1 :24 for an example”…Christ, the power of G-d, and the wisdom of G-d.”
Our Messiah, Yeshua, the “wisdom of G-d,” the one that was with Him before creation, came to us in the form of a man, lived with us in the flesh, and once crucified and risen again, inhabits every believer. “There is one G-d, and one mediator between G-d and men, the man Christ Jesus.” (1Tim. 2:5) Maranatha.

"What if it's true...?" Right. And what if the moon is made out of green cheese? Or if there's really a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? Or if reindeer can really fly? Blah, blah, blah. I'm sure that this poor man has fixated on such garbage in an effort to compensate for a traumatic childhood.

As for the supposed Biblical claim (made by Zionists), Jewish Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss explains: “Zionism is only around 100 years old.
In Isaiah 19:24 we read, "In that day Israel will be the third part with Egypt and Assyria (Iraq), a blessing in the midst of the earth." Has that happened yet? The answer is obvious.

Mormonism is NOT a part of Biblical Christianity; in fact, for many years the Mormons even refused to call themselves Christians, but started doing so in order to attract new (gullible) converts. Please check out these things for yourself--don't just take my word for it.

Well, I suppose if people insist on living in extremely high-cost areas and don't have the income to match, then I guess they don't have "options." Case in point: apartments in San Jose and San Francisco, CA rent for $2,719 and $3,700 per month on average. Drive less than two hours over to the Central Valley and monthly rental prices for 2BR apartments range from $1,282 to $1,740. Yeah, I know that the Central Valley isn't nearly as attractive or livable as the Bay area, but people have to live within their means. It beats being homeless or living in your car and at least you're still in California, right? 💸

Don’t count out Japan. Despite an aging demographic, the Japanese, unlike the Germans, are well positioned to weather the coming storm. They will compensate for the lack of younger workers by increased automation in the manufacturing sector. The Germans, beset by socio-political and energy challenges, will see their economy flounder. Japan is also a part of the “inner circle” of U.S. allies, both economically and militarily, and continues to benefit from this relationship. Incidentally, the Japanese have the best navy in Asia, and in any (non-nuclear) conflict, would absolutely clean the clocks of both China and Russia.

Gov. Gavin Newsom buys $9.1M Marin County, California mansion, PLUS he keeps $3.7M Sacramento home. All this on an annual governor's salary of a little over $200,000? Sources confirmed that the Newsom family bought the home through a "newly created" LLC. The address is being withheld due to "security concerns." Actually, Newsom seemed eager to hide from the public that the $9.1 million home he recently purchased in Marin County was the same home that was previously owned by the Pritzker family.
In fact, the LLC Newsom used to complete the sale is MHBD Farms LLC, which is named after Newsom’s kids Montana, Hunter, Brooklynn, and Dutch. Newsom’s new mansion was previously owned by Zuloo Properties, an LLC controlled by Daniel Pritzker of the Pritzker family. Hmm. nothing to see here, right?

@Amused Derision Where does one begin? 🙄 Let's back up and define our terms. The word(s) "anarchism/anarchist" are derived from the Greek terms "an"(without) and "archōn" (leader or ruler). Hence, without rulers or leadership. Anarchism is a political philosophy and movement that is sceptical of authority and rejects all involuntary, coercive forms of hierarchy. Anarchism calls for the abolition of the state, which it holds to be unnecessary, undesirable, and harmful. As a historically left-wing movement, placed on the farthest left of the political spectrum, it is usually described alongside communalism and libertarian Marxism as the libertarian wing (libertarian socialism) of the socialist movement, and has a strong historical association with anti-capitalism and socialism.
The only problem with this line of reasoning is that, like Marxism, it looks forward to the gradual withering away of the State. But this is patently unachievable, since anarchism produces only chaos, which the people find intolerable, and wishing to end chaos, they inevitably move toward organized government of various flavors. People, by nature, are inclined to be social creatures, which in turn gravitates toward some form of structured society, i.e., civil government. As an aside, this is why we never saw the emergence of the "new Soviet man" in the USSR. They tried mightily for nearly 75 years years to produce such a creature, but failed. Why, you may ask? Because the flaw in their ideology premised that you could build a perfect Marxist society composed of imperfect people. They were unable to change basic human nature enough to accomplish their goals. That would be akin to trying to build a skyscraper on a foundation of clay.
Also, I must point out that you are factually and historically inaccurate when you described the colonies being "in a state of anarchism." Far from it. The Pilgrims and their successors were Englishmen loyal to the Crown (until 1776), and believed first of all in the Laws of God, as well as the laws of the Crown. There is a huge difference between anarchism and freedom in the form of libertarianism. I know, since I've been a libertarian for most of my adult life and never even considered your alternative as remotely feasible or desirable. Believe what you will, but you will find anarchism taking effect when pigs learn to fly and camels learn to sing. Cheers.

“A good person?” There is no such thing. To wit, “And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.” (Mark 20:18) Also, “They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” (Psalm 14:3) Or Paul’s assertion, “They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” Still think anyone’s “good”? Think again.

“I believe there’s intelligent life on other planets.” Ooookay. That’s certainly your prerogative. However, I would ask for proof or evidence for this statement. I mean, have you actually had an encounter with aliens? Or are you presupposing that with all of the alleged “earth-like” exoplanets out there, the odds would dictate that at least one of them would support intelligent life? That’s faulty (inductive) logic at best. Please don’t misunderstand. I’m not denying the possibility of E.T. life—I’m only saying that, given the current state of knowledge and technology, such cannot be proven. It seems to require more “faith” to believe in aliens, than it does to believe in a Supreme Being. The existence of an orderly, observable universe, subject to definable laws and phenomenon, would gravitate toward the existence of an intelligent Creator, aka God. Yet, those of us that do believe in an intelligent Creator are subject to ridicule and scorn by your scientific community for having a "blind faith." Yet, your own "blind faith" in the existence of aliens goes virtually unchallenged. Why is that? Perhaps one answer can be found in the words of Sir Julian Huxley (noted British evolutionary biologist, eugenicist and humanist): "I suppose the reason we (atheists) leaped at (Darwin's) The Origin of Species was because the idea of God interfered with our sexual mores." Well, one has to credit him at least for his honesty. Cheers.

@view1st If I could answer where God came from, then I myself would be Him. People entertain various concepts and notions regarding the idea of "God." Some believe that God is the sum total of human experience, that is, apart from the existence of the human mind, God would not exist. Others, like George Lucas, posit that God is merely some active force in the universe that can be utilized for either good and evil: "May the force be with you!" Love Star Wars, BTW. Then there are various cultures that believe in a pantheon of "gods," something like the ancient Greeks and Romans, or today's Hindus. Finally, there are those of us that hold to the traditional Judaeo/Christian (and I suppose, Muslim) tradition that there is but one God, the eternal One, who is both transcendent and imminent, loving and righteous, and who is the source of all things visible and invisible, and who created and maintains the universe by His infinite power. Or as the ancient Hebrew psalmist declared, "Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God." (Psalm 90:2) Cheers, and may God (not the force) be with you and yours.

Christmas makes money--money makes Christmas. Simple as that. The vilest sinner in town will run you over with his car as he hurries off to do his Christmas "shopping," or to attend a drunken Christmas "party." Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. The world would have nothing to do with so-called "Christmas" if they truly believed it marked the birth of our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. Rev. 10:11 reads, "And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send GIFTS one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth." Even during the tribulation period, the unbelievers will observe a "christmastime" of hell. More to the point, our Lord Jesus, if he had wished for his birth date to be observed, would have given us instructions as to exactly how and when to do so. He did not. However, he DID instruct us to observe the Lord's Supper "in remembrance of me." The only two ordinances that Christ left us (the Church) with are water baptism and the memorial (Lord's) supper. That's it! Moreover, biblical scholars are divided as to exactly what time of year our Lord was born. Some say early spring; other argue for early fall. One point they agree upon was that the birth of Jesus did NOT take place in late December. Personally, I lean toward the mid to late September timing. The shepherds' flocks would have still been in the field at that time of year, but by December they would have been sheltered indoors in the sheep fold due to the inclement winter weather prevalent in Palestine. Remember that Bethlehem is over 2500 feet (775 meters) in elevation. Regardless of which time of year he came into this world, we have a Savior, "who is Christ, the Lord." Let us rejoice in that truth. Amen.

The maternal line of Ashkenazi Jews has been based in Europe for the last 3,500 years. Long before Biblical Israelites were exiled from the land of ancient Israel. This indicates, Ashkenazi Jews are not the descendants of Biblical Israelites.
See Genesis 10:1-3, where it lists the three sons of Noah (Shem, Ham and Japheth). One of Japheth’s sons, Gomer, begat Ashkenaz, showing that Ashkenazi Jews are NOT of Semitic origin. Otherwise, they would be listed under the lineage of Shem, not Japheth. Just because a people may have adopted rabbinic Judaism as their religion does NOT make them the physical posterity of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Nor does it give them any right or claim to the land of Palestine. They need to return to eastern Europe and the Caucasus whence they originated.

@fizmath935 Not a valid comparison. “The biggest companies” (corporations) get to write off most, if not all, of these items as business expenses. Besides, office space is a commercial, not a residential matter. Private citizens do not normally live in offices, they live in homes. As for insurance, property tax, etc., renters are paying these items indirectly to landlords as part of the hidden cost of their monthly rent. Sure, I could sell my home and start renting, but in my locale that would mean my housing expense would double or even triple over my current mortgage payment. And if I get too old (or too lazy) to do my own property maintenance, I can still hire others to do it very cheaply and still have plenty of money left at the end of the month. Your argument doesn’t hold true in real life.

He'd better find one that has no extradition treaty with the U.S. Otherwise, it's off to jail for him. FYI, the United States currently has no extradition agreement with China or Russia, but other countries, such as Ecuador, Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Iceland, Switzerland, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe have also been known to refuse extradition to the US. Best bet is Montenegro, with its stunning coastline and natural beauty, making it an attractive destination for those seeking refuge.

Going back to the 1950’s, I remember seeing those “Medallion” all-electric homes in our neighborhood. They were touted as the wave of the future, and were certain to replace heating oil, coal (ugh), and natural gas for heating homes. Well, in most parts of the country, people don’t use heating oil, even fewer (maybe none) use coal, but natural gas reigns as king. Why, because the cost per kwh of electricity has soared.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, prices for electricity are 513.38% higher in 2024 versus 1913 (a $513.38 difference in value). The current national average price is $0.18 for "Electricity per KWH". Of course, some states (notably California) are nearly double this average. Even in places where it used to be “cheap,” few people can afford to heat their homes using electricity. Same goes for electric hot water heaters. Electricity is for A/C, power and lighting. Gas is for heating homes and hot water. Case closed.

The riskiest U.S. city in which to live (climate change notwithstanding) is Dallas, Texas. The geography and placement of Dallas makes it an epicenter of disasters as it is in the middle of areas that aren't only susceptible to tornadoes, but also a myriad of other natural disasters: flash flooding, drought, hail storms, winter storms and freezing (such as happened in early 2021). In addition, the entire power grid of the state is unreliable and in dire need of upgrade/repair. Plus, due to its rapidly expanding population and urban sprawl, the DFW area is the 4th greatest "heat island" in the country, causing the heat to only rise during the day and stay hot at night due to building materials releasing the heat of the day throughout the night. About the only natural risk to which the Dallas area isn't subjected is earthquakes. So if anyone is looking to relocate and avoid climate-related issues, the upper Midwest (MI, WI, MN and maybe IA) would seem to be the best options. Cheers and stay safe. ⛈🌩🌪💥

Capitalism and Communism are two sides of the same coin, taking opposite approaches to the same end goal--enslavement of the masses for the benefit of the elites/oligarchs. Hence, in a sense, Communism is an extreme form of Capitalism, where a very small group of people (a plutocracy known as the “Central Committee”) effectively owns everything. In the case of the USSR, it was the "nomenklatura," a category of people within the Soviet Union and other Eastern Bloc countries who held various key administrative positions in the bureaucracy, running all spheres of those countries' activity: government, industry, agriculture, education, etc., whose positions were granted only with approval by the communist party of each country or region. Virtually all members of the nomenklatura were members of a Communist party. Individuals with a nomenklatura background have continued to dominate economic and political life in Russia since the end of the Cold War. According to one 2022 estimate, 60% of elites in the Vladimir Putin regime had nomenklatura backgrounds. For the most extreme example, think North Korea. It is Communist de jure. De facto, it is the most Capitalist state in the world, where one private individual owns all the property.
Conversely, Capitalism as an economic system characterized by freedom of the market with increasing concentration of private and corporate ownership, while the vast majority of the populace is dependent on the rich for their own sustenance. In THEORY, Capitalism should be the opposite of Socialism. After all, it is based on the forces of a free market for its success. The reality, however, is that the private sector ends up owning everything and the little guy must be contented to catch the crumbs that drop from the abundance of the table of the rich. If we look at the history of the labor versus management, it becomes obvious that the contention is never a fair encounter. Today, especially, the bargaining table is heavily weighted in favor of the employer thanks to Ronald Reagan, the great communicator. In retrospect, I wonder with whom he communicated; certainly not with working men and women. A perfect example is what happened at Hostess Bakery back in 2012. That outfit fired 18,000 workers nationwide at a time in which our country needed to create jobs, not eliminate them. We’re going back to slavery; in a different form, perhaps, but slavery nonetheless. I wonder how many millions its CEO and other company officials received in severance pay and perks? Time for "we the people" to rise up and throw off the yoke of the elites!

Argentina was once the envy of the western hemisphere. By 1913, it was among the world's ten wealthiest nations, with a per capita income on a par with that of France and Germany, and far ahead of Italy's or Spain's. One important measure of development, GDP per capita, rose from 35% of the United States average to about 80%. At the end of 1913, Argentina had a gold stock of £59 million (nearly $6 billion USD in today's world), or 3.7% of the world's monetary gold, while representing 1.2% of the world's economic output. But with the advent of Peronism, as they say, then it all went wrong. Peron instituted a policy of state corporatism, where powerful interests had access to capital and nationalized assets, leaving the poor and middle class with an economy closed to imports and plagued by rampant inflation. Peron promised the masses something for nothing (sound familiar?), and they got nothing. I wish the new Argentine president all the luck in the world trying to overcome 80+ years of a mismanaged economy. He'll need it.

It’s interesting to note that EVERY mayor of Gary, IN since 1943 has been affiliated with the Democratic Party (D). However, the city’s terminal decline began in earnest when Richard G. Hatcher, the first African-American mayor of Gary, took office (1968-1987) during the late 1960’s. When Hatcher assumed office, Gary had a roughly 15% poverty rate. When he left office in 1987, the city had a 25% poverty rate and unemployment in excess of 20%. Seems like everywhere they assume control of major cities, Democrats have “the magic touch,” whereby they take a thriving urban center and transform it into a cesspool of crime, poverty and hopelessness. And yet, somehow, it’s the “white man’s fault” for all of these woes. The Gary, IN mayor, city council and police force have all been black majority for nearly 50 years. Yet no one has the temerity to suggest that they accept some of the blame?

And, given the current geopolitical situation, I'm sure that Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia would join also, if it were possible. See a pattern here? All of these countries have had experience with Soviet/Russian occupation before, during and after WWII, and don't wish to repeat it again. Russia is now, has been, and will continue to be an aggressive, imperialist, expansionist nation. It's in its nature going all the way back to Catherine the Great.

Peter is making things a bit too complicated. America produced quality electronics merchandise from the 1950's well into the 1970's, at which point east Asia took over the market. Zenith, the last domestic TV manufacturer, sold off its share to LG, a Korean company, in 1995. LG owned 100 percent of Zenith by 1999, eventually putting the 1,200 workers at Zenith’s Melrose Park, IL facility out of a job. There are still some American-owned companies that put their names on TV sets, but 100% of the manufacturing is done in east Asia. We can reverse this process, but it will take a few years. In the meanwhile, don't get rid of your older Samsung/LG/Sony flat screen TV's. I've had one for over 9 years, and it still works as good as the day I first bought it.

Governor Gavin (The Nuisance) Newsom--Nancy Pelosi's great nephew through marriage--is back living in the 1970's, knowing only how to increase taxes and the size of government. They finally gave up and suspended the entire hair-brained project. Air pollution, urban sprawl, homelessness, crime and gang violence are all out of control. We said, "Enough!" and relocated to *******, and have never had any cause to regret our decision. Our adopted home has a much smaller, less intrusive state government, along with modest, reasonable taxes. And the violent crime rate is minuscule compared to CA. People here can still leave their cars unlocked at the local shopping mall--I don't, too many years of living in CA, I guess. Any middle class people that still persist in staying in California deserve what's coming to them. To all of you Californians (especially you SoCal and Bay Area folks)) who continue to p$ss and moan about the deplorable conditions in your area(s), think on this: it was YOU that voted (and continue to vote) for the very politicians responsible for the decline in livability. And to those pogues among you that are thinking of relocating to Montana, Idaho or Wyoming—you’re not welcome in these states. You defecated in your own bed—now live in it.

Habeas corpus, from Medieval Latin, lit. 'let you have the body'; in law: "[we, a Court, command] that you have the body [of the detainee brought before us]") is a recourse in law through which a person can report an unlawful detention or imprisonment to a court and request that the court order the custodian of the person, usually a prison official, to bring the prisoner to court, to determine whether the detention is lawful.
The United States inherited habeas corpus from the English common law. In England, the writ was issued in the name of the monarch. When the original thirteen American colonies declared independence, and became a republic based on popular sovereignty, any person, in the name of the people, acquired authority to initiate such writs. The U.S. Constitution specifically includes the habeas procedure in the Suspension Clause (Clause 2), located in Article One, Section 9. This states that "The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it". Of course, nowadays, the government itself gets to define the terms contained in the clause, especially what determines "public safety."
Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses Grant suspended habeas corpus during the Civil War and Reconstruction for some places or types of cases. In the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis also suspended habeas corpus and imposed martial law. During World War II, President Franklin D. Roosevelt suspended habeas corpus. Following the September 11 attacks, President George W. Bush attempted to place Guantanamo Bay detainees outside of the jurisdiction of habeas corpus, but the Supreme Court of the United States overturned this action in Boumediene v. Bush.

As for the Jews' supposed Biblical claim, Jewish Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss explains: “Zionism is only around 100 years old. In Isaiah 19:24 we read, "In that day Israel will be the third part with Egypt and Assyria (Iraq), a blessing in the midst of the earth." Has that happened yet? The answer is obvious.

Sorry, Graham, but your figures don't give a complete picture of the true condition of the housing market. The U.S. housing shortage has doubled in less than a decade. When you boil it all down, it’s an issue of supply and demand. Even before the pandemic, in 2019, the U.S. was short 3.8 million homes — both places to rent and places to own. That’s according to a new report out from the research group Up for Growth. The shortage is much bigger now than it was in 2012. Double, in fact. And it’s a big part of why home prices and rents are up so much. We’ve known for a long time that there’s not enough housing in certain parts of the country: places like Salt Lake City, Boise, Austin, Detroit and Atlanta. More than half of all metro areas in the country now have a housing shortage, Up for Growth found. Renters especially are getting hammered. In my locale, monthly rents for a 2br, 2ba apartment have risen from an average of $750 in 2019 to $1250 today. And that's without any accompanying increase in salaries or wages. Some places are experiencing an influx of out-of-towners with money to burn, and there's no end in sight. Sure, there may be a "crash" coming for some markets in the future, but for now the sky's the limit. Cheers.

Moving from LA to Austin would be a SLIGHT improvement, in that the state of Texas has more common sense than California. BUT Austin is administered by an 11-member city council (10 council members elected by geographic district, plus a mayor elected at large). The current mayor, Kirk Watson, while officially non-partisan, has been a long time member of the Democratic Party. In 2011, Watson was chosen by his Democratic colleagues to chair the Texas Senate Democratic Caucus and served until 2015. Likewise, the Austin City Council, again supposedly non-partisan, is composed of 10 members, ALL of whom are affiliated with the the Democratic Party. The unofficial slogan for the city is "Keep Austin Weird." And the local politicians are doing their very best to ensure just that. So if you want to move to a city in Texas that isn't run by wokies and weirdos, cross Austin off your list.

"Secrecy is the keystone to all tyranny. Not force, but secrecy and censorship. When any government, or church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, "This you may not read, this you must not know," the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives. Mighty little force is needed to control a man who has been hoodwinked in this fashion; contrariwise, no amount of force can control a free man, whose mind is free. No, not the rack, nor the atomic bomb, not anything. You can't conquer a free man; the most you can do is kill him." - Robert A. Heinlein, from "Revolt in 2100" (1953)

The social(ist) experiment known as "The Great Society," which began in the mid-1960's, is OVER. So-called integration, whether in schools or housing, has been and is an abject failure. Blacks have neither been integrated nor uplifted by this policy, and whites have only been degraded and/or victimized. It's time to get real and stop playing nicey-nicey with one another. If left to their own devices, the races ALWAYS choose to self-segregate. Blacks prefer to associate with blacks, and whites with whites. Time to roll the clock back to 1960, and re-establish separate schools, housing and, if possible, separate geographical living areas for blacks and whites. This is the only way to avoid an all-out racial conflagration. Although, given current events, this may no longer be possible.

Sorry to be a wet blanket on Joe's program, but although today Atlantis is often conceived of as a peaceful utopia, the Atlantis that Plato described in his fable was very different. In his book "Encyclopedia of Dubious Archaeology," professor of archaeology Ken Feder notes that in Plato's story, "Atlantis is not a place to be honored or emulated at all. Atlantis is not the perfect society ... Quite the contrary, Atlantis is the embodiment of a materially wealthy, technologically advanced, and militarily powerful nation that has become corrupted by its wealth, sophistication, and might." Hmm...sounds like another modern-day superpower which shall go nameless.
It's clear that Plato made up Atlantis as a plot device for his stories, because there are no other records of it anywhere else in the world. There are many extant Greek texts; surely someone else would have also mentioned, at least in passing, such a remarkable place. There is simply no evidence from any source that the legends about Atlantis existed before Plato wrote about it. Happy New Year.

@dnickaroo3574 Palmerston was a British nationalist; he said that the country had no permanent allies, only permanent interests. As such, he may have encouraged liberalism in those countries which were perceived as natural enemies of the British crown, but he never supported liberalism in Great Britain. His thought was that liberalism, if made to flourish in countries such as Russia, France and Austria (all enemies of GB), would tend to weaken those nations, and thus serve to strengthen British foreign objectives.
The Reform Bills of 1831 and 1832 were more considerable than Palmerston liked, and he tried to modify them. Failing, he blamed “the stupid old Tory party” for making them necessary by refusing minor concessions, emphasized the “final” nature of the 1832 Act, and proclaimed his confidence that the landed interest would continue to prevail in politics as he thought it should. From 1849 to 1865 he came to personify the opposition of the landsmen and many of the middle classes to the enfranchisement of trade unionists and to resist fiscal and legislative assaults on landed property, opining (with regard to Ireland) that “tenant right was landlord’s wrong.” Lord Palmerston, who became prime minister for the first time in 1855, stood out as the dominant political personality of mid-Victorian Britain precisely because he was opposed to dramatic change and because he knew through long experience how to maneuver politics within the half-reformed constitution. Doesn't sound like much of a "liberal" to me.

Admittedly, the 259 mile range for the 2023 Chevrolet Bolt is quite generous for an EV. However, even the base model 1LT will cost ~ $27,000, and the more popular model 2LT will go for ~ $30,000--not exactly cheap by any measure. On the other hand, the new 2023 Toyota Corolla Hybrid LE will sell for ~ $24,000, and has virtually unlimited range with its 1.8L engine/hybrid configuration. And, really, wouldn't most people prefer to own a Toyota rather than a Chevy?

@gary4507 Alas, no matter where you go or live, government(s), to a greater or lesser degree, will always try to to control people. It’s what they do, just like a dog scratching fleas. Indeed, even if a Republican manages to win the presidency in 2024, there probably won't be any real change. The crux of the matter is this: Your government does not fear or respect you. Its officials know they will not lose their cushy positions, no matter how many rights they violate. Plus, government has co-opted private businesses to do its bidding as well: Amazon, Google, Twitter, etc., are ALL in bed with the surveillance state that is modern day America.
“Since mankind's dawn, a handful of oppressors have accepted the responsibility over our lives that we should have accepted for ourselves. By doing so, they took our power. By doing nothing, we gave it away. We've seen where their way leads, through camps and wars, towards the slaughterhouse.” ― Alan Moore, V for Vendetta, who also wrote, “People shouldn't be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people.” The question is, what can/should be done to make government afraid? Cheers.

@AnasChemmala "Scores aren't always correct..." Really? Every website and study that I've researched confirms the same results as in my original post one year ago.

Governor Gavin (The Nuisance) Newsom--Nancy Pelosi's great nephew through marriage--is still living in the 1970's, knowing only how to increase taxes and the size of government. Although California has the highest corporate, personal, sales and gasoline taxes in the nation, infrastructure is crumbling. The roads are in deplorable condition, especially in the Bay area. On a recent visit to family, there were so many large cracks, dips and potholes, that I was actually concerned about damage to my car's suspension.
But at the same time, the legislature decided to fund the "high-speed rail" train (to nowhere) pork-barrel project, which ballooned from its original budget of $25 billion to nearly $70 billion, at last count. They finally gave up and suspended the whole hairbrained project. Air pollution, urban sprawl and gang violence are all out of control. We said, "Enough!" and relocated to *******, and have never had any cause to regret our decision. Our adopted home has a much smaller, less intrusive state government, along with modest, reasonable taxes, and, for the most part, excellent infrastructure. And the violent crime rate is miniscule compared to CA. People here can still leave their cars unlocked at the local shopping mall--I don't, too many years of living in CA, I guess. Any middle class people that still persist in staying in California deserve what's coming to them. No pity on them whatsoever.

What you’re really saying is that you want to find heaven on earth. No such place exists. As for the “globalist agenda,” if it really exists, then there’s no escaping it, even in Mexico. For us, the middle class, there are only “better” places to move to. Outside of CA, for sure. After living in the (not so) golden state for over 35 years, we did relocate to a better place in the USA. Think maybe (Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, etc.) If you don’t mind some colder weather, they can be great places: lower taxes, far less crime and smaller, less intrusive government(s). Cheers and good luck.

@mati261000 You are woefully misinformed regarding so-called "eternal consequences" and the topic of "hell" in general. First of all, there is no such thing as "your soul getting zapped." The soul has no continuing or separate existence from the entire person. We do not possess a soul, we ARE living souls. See Genesis 2:7, where it reads, "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man BECAME a living soul." Man is composed of the natural elements found in the earth, and, when God provides breath/spirit (Heb., nᵉshâmâh), he BECOMES a living soul (Heb., nephesh). We differ from the animal kingdom in that mankind possess a rational intellect (after the image and likeness of God), with which we can relate to ourselves and to our Creator. Don't know about you, but I've never have noticed my dog pausing before his meal to return thanks to God before eating. 🐕 We do NOT continue existence after death as some kind of disembodied spirit or ghost. If we did, then the spiritists and necromancers might have a valid point. The condition of the departed dead is one of being "asleep in the dust of the earth" (Daniel 12:2). See also John 11:11, where our Lord Jesus states, "Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep." And also John 11:14, "Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead." Also Psalm 146:4, "His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish." And the "wrongdoings," as you call them, can only be propitiated (atoned for) by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, shedding his blood for the remission (forgiveness) of ALL of our sins. "...and without the shedding of blood, there is no remission. (Heb. 9:22). The future for all unbelieving humans is eternal judgement in the lake of fire (Rev. 20:15), which is the final GeHenna (Matt. 23:33). BTW, what's in YOUR future?

"Happy", def. Merriam-Webster: feeling pleasure and enjoyment because of your life, situation, circumstances, etc. "Happiness" has as its root "happenstance," which is a circumstance that is due especially to chance. IOW, "happiness" is dependent on the external ups and downs of life. Win Super Lotto? Whee, you're happy! Lose your job? All bummed out. Joy, on the other hand, is an internal construct signifying gladness, exultation and/or rejoicing. One can (and should) have "joy" even in the midst of negative external circumstances. Example? "And ye (the disciples) now therefore have sorrow: but I (Jesus) will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your JOY no man taketh from you." (John 16:22) Even in the midst of the imminent loss of their Master, Jesus' disciples were told to expect JOY. Or, as the Hebrew Psalmist put it, "...weeping may endure for a night, but JOY cometh in the morning." (Psalm 30:5b). Maranatha.

On a recent visit to the San Jose, CA area, I noticed charging stations at a local shopping mall. Out of 10 stations, only one was actually in use, while the rest were either idle or out of service due to “technical” problems. EV’s will only be practical as a replacement for gasoline engines when they are used in crowded urban environments where range and/or charging time is not an issue. Think of EV’s as your next SECOND car, but not as your primary mode of transportation. They will never replace gasoline engines in the vast, wide open spaces common in the West, where stops between places are measured in HOURS, not minutes. Sorry, Wendover, to rain on your parade, but ‘dems the facts.

One practical matter is the question of whether Idaho would even want such an expansion, given the sparsely populated nature of eastern Oregon, and the responsibility of maintaining the associated infrastructure of such a vast area. Speaking as a long-time ID resident, I'm thinking no. Any eastern Oregonians would be more than welcome here in Idaho. The most logical solution is simply to leave Oregon as it is, and take Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho and combine them into one new state, which would include basically everything east of Yakima in Washington, and the 12 northern counties of Idaho. There are several reasons for this: similar climates, similar demographics, similar voter registration, and identical time zone (PST). Eastern Washington people despise the Puget Sound socialist oligarchy, and northern Idahoans feel neglected by their southern counterparts. Win, win.

You prefer BTC over gold, eh? Well, to each his own, I guess. Facts about BTC: pyramid scheme, origin unknown, created out of thin air, exists only in cyberspace, can be shut down and/or regulated at the whim of government (like in China), not accessible in the event of a power outage (think EMP), and can be hacked and/or stolen by online criminals. Facts about gold: tangible store of value for over 5,000 years of recorded history, has to be mined at great expense and effort, cannot be created or destroyed by government fiat, can be stored near at hand in case of paper money failure. Like the saying goes, if you can’t touch it and hold it in your hand, you really don’t own it.

Paul Pelosi's attacker, David DePape, was found to be an illegal immigrant, has a rap sheet as a gay prostitute, as well as being a nudist and a Green Party member. Perhaps, DePape and Mr. Pelosi were having a rather personal "get together" that got out of hand. Who knows.?
