@shaunw9270 I attended secondary school 1978-1983, I was the recipient of the cane and or the slipper. My crimes involved getting caught smoking behind the bicycle sheds or talking in class. Only had the cane a few times in those five years, however, it did act as a sort of deterrent for most boys at the school. I remember on one of the occasions I was caned, it appeared that the deputy headmaster who carried out the punishment was enjoying it. I recall a conversation with an old school friend a few years ago, where we talked about the cane and slipper at school, and we agreed that the ones dishing out the punishment enjoyed doing it, either because they were sadists or most likely they got a sexual thrill from it.

Did you actually watch and listen to the video? He said he wouldn't want to go back to those days. He was merely bringing up the types of punishment of yesteryear and how it was a deterrent.
