  3. I worked during the polar vortex here in Illinois. When it was -22° all night. I cannot imagine what it would have been like to have run out of battery in a traffic jam in that type of cold. At least with a gas powered vehicle someone can bring you some gas and you can heat your car. They can't bring you electricity. Even with a generator it's going to take time. And during that time you're going to freeze. Literally. -22° is nothing to fool around with.

  4. ​ @williammeek4078 do you know literally anything about EVs? Because it's not common sense to buy one. They're more expensive, you have to buy a charging station for your home which is an even larger expense, charging them takes half an hour versus 5 minutes, their batteries explode, you need to replace your tires every 7 to 10,000 mi and there aren't very many charging stations anywhere in the world. It's not common sense to buy one. It's common sense to avoid buying one until they're actually more reliable.

  5. I've noticed this tends to happen with anything that supposedly good for the environment and good for people. Same thing happened with solar panels. First there were subsidies from the government simply to buy them, then they would buy back any extra electricity you generated, now no subsidies and the extra isn't worth it. It's almost like this is just a way of starting a new industry. Get us all excited and happy for doing something good and then screw us over!

  6. I work with truckers I'm not a trucker. One of the things I always found hilarious was the amount of people who would get a California run and stop right before California and do a handoff. At least 50% of the truckers have dealt with refused to be in California. They won't drive one foot across the border.

And it was designed around the car. People who want to compare California to a European country are stupid. The United States is a very different country than any country in Europe. Because we don't have the age and we have a hell of a lot more space.

I wouldn't mind giving up some of my personal freedom for the privilege of having a vehicle that gets me from my house to the grocery store and back without my having to pay any attention. They're hiring them to deliver product. When you deliver less product at one time you get paid less. So what you're saying is it's more economical for them to get paid less per job? No it isn't.

  25. ​ iscadean3607 Tucker's work 14 hours a day. They deliver more than one delivery per day. If your one delivery seps the entire charge of your battery and you have to charge for 9 hours you're only able to work for 5 hours a day. Either you're not a trucker or you're from California.

If I hire your company to deliver my products and it takes you five trips with a diesel engine and eight trips with an EV I'm going to pay you less if you have an EV if I hire you at all. Because I need my product to be shipped. I need the product to be at the store to be sold. If your vehicle cannot do that I'll hire a company that uses vehicles that can.

Because it's actually working fine in most places that are not California. I live in Illinois and I have never had an issue with the power because of too much usage. And we run our air conditioning all summer long!

This idea that every state has an electrical grid problem without electric vehicles is just wrong. It's only California that has a severe electrical grid issue. And part of that problem is all of the electrical vehicles they have. So if your state starts developing a problem you are it.

  34. I can't speak for other countries but here in the US we can't even leave chargers out in public because they have copper in them. None of us are going to stick that on our car and just leave it there. Especially not in the daytime. You know when people can see that it's just sitting there and steal it. It's 2024 if shit ain't nailed down it gets stolen!

  37. I recently watched a video where a truck driver tried using an EV semi truck. He was only able to do one job in a day. It may have been two. Because of the amount of time it takes to charge those things and how little a charge they have. In a diesel truck he would have been able to get eight jobs done in a day. They want to take us back to the horse and buggy days!

Six stops on a 790 something mile trip? I live in Illinois and my grandparents live in New York it's about 750 mi between the two. When we'd go to visit Grandpa we'd stop twice for gas. Maybe three times if we left with a low tank. We polluted less.
